  1. Tyrell Ford is now officially back on the Bombers' roster.

  2. That's too funny - maybe they don't want to meet you? 😄

  3. Yup, the BOD and front office was run like Mom and Pop's Sodium Shop. Ended up with hardly any draft picks, to boot......we traded away our first rounders virtually ever year.......then griped about the lack of Canadian talent and depth.

  4. No worries, they have Dolegla and he's tall.

  7. Bighill isn't doing a mob job. He puts in the work. I know people who use his services and he's the real deal there.

  8. It always has been a soft cap. There's consequences for spending over the limit. In hard capped leagues they literally start waiving players off the roster to make the team compliant if they are over (like the NHL).

  9. So, it's a soft cap now? This is bizarre. Somewhere in Regina, they're filling houses with bunk beds. We're back in business baby!

  11. I've booked quite a few field trips groups at CMHR. They do have dates where they are fully booked. As does the MB. Museum - I was there on Friday with 40 grade 11s - the place was busy.

  12. Taman was the most bush league GM in modern CFL history. Not all his fault mind you as the club was broke, and being run by the inept BOD. If not for Milt, I sincerely believe the team would have folded by 2005, and if not for Wade Miller would still be a bottom feeder now, if even in existence. In retrospect it’s amazing they made it through.

  13. Nah, it’s fine the way it is. I’d even be ok with the playoffs in December like way back when. I mean, I’m in the minority I guess but I love cold weather football. Nothing more Canadian than a 3pm start ending under the lights with snowflakes falling. Not to mention avoiding the weekly lightning delays that come with late spring/early summer games.

  14. I've traveled a fair bit in the last decade. Canada, us and a few places off the continent. A lot of places I've been to, really make me appreciate winnipeg. We have our issues, no doubt about it. But we have a lot in our favor too.

  15. So it's settled, Austin Matthews in for Damian Jackson this year as the import FB we don't want or need. He should be available after the first round of playoffs....again....so just in time for training camp....

  18. I've modified a line from Jerry Maguire where he says, you complete me. I've changed it to, you exhaust me. Said with warmth and caring of course. Yes thank you google search, an amateurs tool for 'in-depth' research.

  19. And/or its the crew he runs with as a reason why.

  20. Well it was mentioned that the reason we got Streveler so cheap was that he could earn a lot of money off the field in Winnipeg. I wonder if we threw him a bunch of 'promo" money?

  25. around the 6:30 mark I had to stop and go get the hanky. Wow....you hear about how much the fans and the organization are loved by the players, and vice versa obviously, but when you hear it spoken in such a heartfelt manner, it really hits home. How often do you hear players in leagues like the NBA or NHL talk like this? Not very often. They're in a city, get their paycheque, maybe win a Cup or two, and they are off to the next place in free agency, see ya later. Amazing.

  26. In the years before Covid, there were several organizations that sponsored the attendance of schools at the Manitoba Museum. It was not free, the museum was still getting paid. This is a fact - I take my grade 11 group to the museum every year. No, they don't. Achieving 94 000 paid attendance when you're target is 100 000, is actually pretty good.

  28. You know all those times two bombers go out into random places and sign autographs? Bet you they are getting a cheque. Not that they’d need to get one, but I’m sure we use it as one way to bolster total compensation. Play off money too. I know for a fact that happened a bunch as recently as the early to mid 90s. Few guys with dealership jobs who didn’t sell cars but showed up for company events and public stuff.

  34. I guess if you want to call a 200k signing bonus team friendly. Good total number but if VA goes down during the season the cap relief isn't great.

  37. Yeah they were running it on the cheap back then. The facility was super rough too. I don’t think we retained a high-end FA for nearly a decade. After 02 it was the big 4 (Milt/Blink/Brown/KJ or KG) with little to nothing else talent-wise. When they hired Doug Berry, Taman was able to bring in a few good vets on the tail end (Simpson, Bolden, Armstrong, ect) to make a short run. Point is, you’re right. There was never anything foundational for a sustained run on top before Wade took over.

  38. What a weeny. Why not have the CFL merge with the UFL & play games in April? Have the championship in July? With fans like you that are afraid of a little cold that'll be the ultimate future of our league. Four down spring football will be all that's left. You can sit thru the spring snowstorms or the miserable drawn out cold springs.

  47. So this 12k promo money is from a seperate fund that teams pay players for appearances etc. Teams need to spend atleast 110k but there is No maximum for this fund. Yet another CFL policy that fans are left in the dark on. What would prevent the Bombers from paying Brandy 100k for player appearances and allocate part of his salary to someone else?
