    Lions v Bombers Part 2

Lineup aside. So excited for tonight it's been a while since we have had a big-time regular season match-up with the Bombers coming in as underdogs by outside pundits. Two teams that particularly don't care for each other. Buckle up because there is going to be some big-boy football being played tonight.

  4. I just hope we come out ready to play .. a series of two and outs right out of the gate is going to take our crowd out of it quick (especially after the last few home games). If we do get up on the Lions early, let's bury them. Punch them in the mouth and then keep swinging. To hell with this nonsense of not running up the score and playing conservatively with the lead - we don't have the horses for it. I want to see guys winning one on one battles. I want to see our offensively line play with a little nastiness and pride. I want our playmakers (on offense and defense) making plays. I want to see clean play and execution right from the opening snap. I want to see the mentally weak Evans collapse under pressure.

  5. Just walked past the stadium and visited the store. Getting very excited for tonight! This has to be the first time since 2019 that I am going to a game and I am not convinced the Bombers will win it. So, they better make those Lions cry!

  6. The drop off from jeffcoat to Bennett might be the biggest single value loss at any position around the league.

  7. We come out firing this game, we'll be a much different team with film review, new bodies and a big home crowd. Part 2 will belong to us, 29-11 Bombers.

  9. Keeping Zach Collaros clean is key tonight. Lions sacked him 7 times in the prior game. You can BETT they'll be coming after him again. A couple of times Betts was past Yoshi and on ZC before Hardrick got out of his stance. But the whole O line looked old, slow, and basically shell-shocked. Hence the adjustment to add extra blocking help at the FB position. Look for Lions O to pick on Winston Rose - hopefully he's the all-star we want him to be. Missing Janarion Grant and Mike Miller on Special Teams. Kyrie Wilson back is huge. It'll be a tight win ... Bombers by 4 points! Go Blue!!!

  10. I've gone from expecting to win every game to feeling like we have a great shot at winning most games. I have the same worries about the OL and the lack of DL depth.

  11. As @Boochsaid Jackson coming in just takes a playmaker out. A poster on another site had Jackson in for 11 out of 56 offensive plays against Edmonton. I'll say it again a waste of a spot for a guy to play 20% of your offensive snaps as an extra blocker and on teams.

  12. I think what broke us in the first match up was the last 3 mins of the first half.... score was 10-3 and Bombers drive the field only to stall out on the 5(ish) yard line and come away with only a FG and a min left on the clock.... BC gets the ball back and easily drives the field for a TD... half time score is 17-6 instead of 10-10...

We were rolling on them early in the last game too, until discipline became an issue and things snowballed from there. I think a lot of people who've never played really don't understand the mental aspect of momentum sometimes. We got snowed under, and it was of our own making. They had a 80 yd TD drive on penalties. That shook our defence.

  14. All I hope for is a much better performance by the Blue this game. 20-16 Bombers.

  15. Put the posts on a tryke and when a team crosses the 35 their kicker can run to the back of the endzone and drive the tryke out to the goal-line. We'll pilot this in Halifax's new CFL stadium.

  16. This is the most uneasy I’ve ever felt this year and I’m still pretty confident in a win.

  17. Game in and game out, this season I have very little confidence... we just aren't the same team we once were. But there's always hope. If Zach gets enough time to work, he'll dice them up... but I have very little confidence in the Bombers ability to protect him right now. Hoping tonight, following a bye week, will be the start of something new....

  19. I'll say this .. I'm not disagreeing that this is a much better lineup than when we first played BC. However, this year's team has given me no reason to believe that each week won't be a struggle. We haven't played a full 60 minutes yet. Outside the Calgary game, where we ran the ball down their throat in the 4th, we haven't had much of a physical presence. We are routinely struggling to protect our quarterback (schematically or otherwise). This team .. this year .. they have to make me a believer because frankly, they've **** the bed too much already.

  20. it's absurd to talk about 1st place being locked up before Labour Day. The old CFL adage that still rings true is "The season doesn't start until Labour Day"...

  21. A BC win would have them 4 points up and give them the season series. Meaning we would need to gain 6 points on them in the second half. They play us one more time but dont play Toronto again. The rest of their schedule is against junk. Not going to happen.

    Canadian Politics

I listened to this episode of Front Burner today and found it interesting - What's driving polarization in Canadian politics? | CBC Radio I never really saw how the importance of getting a viral clip to engage donors is a driving force of polarization, but it made sense to me. Unfortunately this is leading to a lot of enraging supporters to share clips and solicit donations rather than working together. I haven't yet read the report this was based on, but linked for those who are interested (it seems intriguing) - TheRiseOfPolarizationInCanada-PPF-AUG2023-EN-1.pdf (ppforum.ca) @Mark F tagging because of polarization mentioned in US thread.

    Lions v Bombers Part 2

I meannnnn they did exactly what I thought they’d do. Though I didn’t think they’d use an extra fullback instead of a DL. After 4 years following this team, they’re very predictable. I’m not mad, we’ll be fine. It’s a great lineup. I still think Parker should be in rose spot if it was my team, but it’s not and I figure they always prioritize the vet. And the other DBs are strong there so they won’t move. He put up a few days in practice and sounds like they liked the guys they had better. Gotta trust they saw enough. They see these guys every day at practice - at the end of the day that means more than the bit we see in games from them.

  24. No matter what they do there are the same number of Canadians and Americans on the roster. The starting thing is not a huge deal. Wasting an American spot on a guy who is basically an extra OL when he's out there who can play some on special teams is pretty nuts. What happens if Jeffcoat goes down? That's been a pretty frequent scenario. They've also got two guys who haven't played in ages coming in to start on D and that could go either way. Get thin real fast, you need every roster spot to be used efficiently.

BC's on a short week, we're coming off a bye. BC's on their 2nd string QB, we're the healthiest we've been all season. We've got home field advantage. If we don't win this one, then we have to admit that BC's the better team and that the road to the Grey Cup goes through Vancouver in the west.

I kind of view bc similar to the swaggerville bomber team. Riding a super hot defense in the summer hoping the quarterback in holds up and doesn't fall off. Which with vaj/Evans is a legit concern. Bc looks good now, is it sustainable? Remains to be seen.

  35. Thats the key thing....what s to say one of or both Rose and Wilson get tweaked?...zero coverage...Kramdi is an 8th starter....but really we don't capitalize on that anywhere. We could pull Thomas and or Lawson for Fox or the new DE...with no effect on our ratio for that play...we could also then use say Jeffcoat as the Nationalized guy 23 times for one of Cole or Darby in Kramdi's spot...but we fail to do that as well. Jackson sure...nice story...good guy...But we could use. as we have already Gray as a fullback...he's more than athletic enough and slide Eli or Dobson in at guard, and get better use of that DA spot....yet we choose not to...why?...when it makes over all team stronger.....Same with for all the use Bennett has been....we could slap Murphy or Kelly in his roster spot if we dressed The Jeffs..Lawson..Thomas..Walker..Haba and one of Fox or that new End...and be better off ....not sure why we wont...or dont

as it sits...I would assume Kramdi is the 8th canadian starter, and we only likely declare 1 on defense...well that would be the smart thing...but smart with our roster seems to have gone by bye....speaking of which @DTonOB have you asked, or can you ask Osh why he is the only coach not utilizing the Nationalized player when it would obviously benefit us in more ways than one...and as the coach...is it not his job to put the best team out there and refuses to do so?....Inquiring minds want to know Biggie...Wilson and I think Mauro can al do it...and we have gone games with Jackson not dressed, so obviously someone was the backup..that excuse is a pile of sh!t

From our last game against B.C., we’re also adding Houston, Lawson, and Lawler. None of whom were on the roster in the first game.

  41. Was just thinking DL is where the extra DA should reside... we should be ok in the defensive back field in case of injury... Darby can play multiple positions or BA can move around and Hallet can fill in at safety... this D needs a heavy DL rotation to be effective.

  42. I'm not one to complain about the roster decisions as much as others... I trust out coaching staff since they have about 20,000x time more football knowledge then I'll ever have in my life time... but to use a DA spot on a backup fullback instead of an extra DL or DB (especially one who can return punts) is an incredibly baffling decision...

  43. I just dont understand dressing Jackson when Burtenshaw is back and youve got a healthy Parker who could come in for some secondary reps and/or replace someone if they get nicked-up . Not to mention Parker looks way more comfortable than McCrae fielding kicks. It make zero f**king sense.

  45. I get MOS's trust in the Oline and not making changes (I would but I get his rationale). I don't see why we keep using Jackson as a DA when it could be used on the Dline or Secondary. I don't understand only dressing 6 Dlinemen when most teams go 7-9 and your team has had great success doing that. I don't get the love for Kramdi. If Darby has lost his job, then why not use Parker instead?
    2 points
  46. Why the **** do we have Jackson on as a DA if Burtenshaw is back? A back up fullback who uses a spot that could be a DB (Parker) or a DT (Fox).
