I think there's two things wrong here: 1) It's ridiculous to believe the number we have for him is arbitrary. 2) It's ridiculous to believe they'd let an all star NI OL walk for "a couple thousand dollars". Nothing about Kyle Walters FA history says any of what you're thinking is even remotely possible.

I think I'd go cheap and promote somebody from within, rather than spend $180k on anybody at safety.

Pretty sure Nichols bonus is due in January... so you'd have to cut him before FA and hope you sign one of Reilly or BLM... sounds like a bad plan. We're like a season away from actually developing our own in-house QB - I wouldn't throw that away for a 3 year albatross contract with any of the big guys right now.

Ehlers is a zone entry machine on a value contract. Trading him would be dumb AF.

No, I'm not suggesting we pay him whatever he wants. I'm suggesting that we pay him whatever he's worth on the open market plus a bit to make sure we keep him. Losing him for a couple of thousand dollars to stay within the number we arbitrarily choose for him doesn't help us at all. It helps another team get better and stronger in their NI starters. The idea that we can't afford him is dumb. We can afford him if we choose to.

Kind of makes sense, if he wants a close look at the talent. Eakins will be promoted next year.

Pursue WIL Chris Ackie/Bo Lokombo and DT Junior Turner .... both can fill up our needs and give us ratio flexibility

Nichols did a news conf Jan 17 and then went to Brandon Jan 25 - the first time he surfaced since a very pedestrian offensive performance in the W final where he converted just five of 22 second down conversion chances (22%). It is perfectly fine for fans to look at Nichols with a critical eye - he has become a lightning rod after costing us multiple losses last season while refusing to admit it. Take another look at the athlete in at that Brandon Wheat Kings video and ask yourself if this looks like a QB who can take the Bombers to the cup and win it.

Wouldn't that cause a huge rift in the locker room between BLM/MR and all the other guys that have grown with Nichols? Also, good luck convincing Nichols to be a backup to one of his two biggest playoff rivals over the past few years...

New Japan Pro Wrestling put the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on Jay White, having him beat Tanahashi. Interesting.... looks to be White vs Okada at WM weekend. Sounds like the original plan if Omega stayed was him beating Tanahashi and then losing to Okada at WM weekend (I'd have had Kenny lose to Tanahashi and regain at MSG but I guess they were thinking they'd have their top two guys in the main event). Jay White is good but he wont be the US draw Kenny was. Speaking of Kenny, he did a long interview with Dave Meltzer where he confirmed that report of WWE offering him $3.5 million. Well, to be fair he didnt confirm the number but said "everyone knows, you reported it. Its out there." He said WWE was awesome to deal with and had nothing but great things to say. He said his AEW deal is 4 years and he's already been scouting. Sounds like he's doing a lot of scouting for the women's division. He said he nearly re-signed with New Japan with the idea of being based there and doing AEW when he could but wasnt happy with the direction of New Japan (lines up with what he told me last year). Said his AEW contract lets him do just about anything he wants including New Japan but he doesnt know if New japan wants him. He said he's open to working with WWE but didnt want to step on toes since thats not his call. Mentioned that he packed only summer clothes for the Vegas rally but thankfully brought a suit (it was 5 degrees in Vegas lol). No doubt it’ll be a downgrade. But you got to have a limit on what you’re willing to pay guys. Especially when we’ve invested so much draft capital in the OL. We have to be able to replace guys when other teams sign them away in FA. I tell you though, between Goosen, Corney, and potentially Chungh, this is a lot of high draft picks (who should be hitting their prime years) that are no longer helping our team.
