  1. Lurkers help keep the lights on and if, as a community, we drive those people away it's less likely the lights stay on. In a professional setting are you someone who thinks those in a meeting who are shy, introverted or hesitant to speak are worthless or are you someone who looks for ways to give them a voice? Do you recognize that different views, perspectives and experiences are valuable and hearing them might benefit the team as a whole or are you someone who rejects that person because they lack the confidence to put themselves out there? Food for thought. Frankly, I'd rather this be a place where *anyone* feels safe to contribute .. where those with knowledge foster a spirit of understanding of the game and are humble enough to recognize their opinions are not gospel .. I want more voices, not less.

  2. Disagree, this site runs on ad revenue, member or not, the more clicks the better. Beesides $, I myself was a lurker on OB.com for a long time before becoming a, what, 13 or 14 years and running contributor to that site then this one. Some lurkers are just members that haven't signed up yet.

  3. Didn't know when to stop? Hmmm, interesting comment considering some of you don't know when to stop either. Do I think Walters can just come in & fire one of MOS coaches without agreement from the HC? No. I don't agree with Booch on that but that's his opinion to which he's entitled. All this piling on of Booch really sucks because this place is greatly reduced if he truly leaves. Generally, his comments are spot on. He knows his stuff & I enjoy his takes but that doesn't mean he's right all the time. But I've always trusted what he says & I'll continue to do so if he comes back. Some of you though, as soon as you don't agree with another poster then the the condescending comments come out. Like clockwork. To be fair, if I point fingers at y'all then I have to point fingers at myself because I do it, too. I can be mean spirited at times. Sometimes our behaviour towards others here is absolutely atrocious. But I'm a tough old bird with thick skin. Doesn't bother me if I get sticks thrown at me but it got to Booch. I'm sad he has decided to leave.

  6. Oh relax, Speed You know Booch isn’t leaving. He likes the trolling, telling people how much he more he knows, and the ass-kissing from certain posters too much to walk away. He’ll be back.

  7. Man, the egos around this place... We just lost one of the best posters here who is knowledgeable about the game because some people just don't know when to stop. Congrats to everyone involved.

  9. There is a big and usually obvious difference between disagreeing with an opinion and resorting to ad hominem personal attacks. Wake up, people. Many forms have folded due to this sort of rubbish.

  10. Lurkers are worthless. Let them leave they don't contribute anything anyway. Here is the problem... there are some people who will vehemently deny that oshea has roster management problems and some that will take that denial entirely too seriously. Make no mistake, Mike oshea for being the best coach going had always had roster blind spots. Our roster usage was complete garbage last season. So I can understand why people get mad when it's denied. It's like denying the sky is blue. But it's also not as awful as some people think. Bombers did play most of the year on hard mode last year with their roster usage.

  13. I assume you mean stuff like the comments about a former Riders' head coach? It did take quite a bit of work to clean that kind of stuff up - but it is better now.

  14. I'll bet that with Scott Milanovich as HC, and even with BLM reportedly restructured and Taylor Powell still under contract, that Ti-Cats will still be in on the Dru Brown sweepstakes, driving up the final price for whoever gets him. Bombers do have the leverage of being able to guarantee 50% of the 2nd year of any contract offer for Brown. Will that be enough to keep him? If we lose Brown it'll be reminiscent of the Danny McManus situation after the '92 GC loss where Bombers let a promising rookie go in favour of an old veteran (loved Dunigan BTW) who was on the downswing. And we know what happened after that - McManus basically tore up the CFL throwing strikes for just about every team in the league - except Winnipeg.

  15. Most posters start as lurkers until they feel comfortable enough contributing something. But if you try and share a conflicting opinion and get smashed or threatened or ridiculed, it turns people away.

    Covid-19

imagine considering yourself a medical professional and refusing to get vaccinated.... you should have your qualifications removed. An incredible number of people sick with respiratory virus infections this fall/winter, and people are like "what pandemic??" No vaccine, no mask..... you get what you deserve.

There's always been a vaccine mandate for healthcare professionals. Yes, I acknowledge there is a dearth of qualified, compassionate healthcare workers in Canada. As one of those million people who doesn't have a family doctor, it's concerning to me. It's equally concerning that I might have someone I care about under the care of a "professional" who is so selfish and self-absorbed that they can't bothered do the bare minimum to keep them safe. As far as I'm concerned, if you aren't willing to do the smallest of things to keep those under your care free from harm then you have no business being in the business you are in.

  18. Look, no one was trying to drive Booch away. Wasn't anyone's intention at all. You are right that we can all have egos at times for sure and definitely behavior can be atrocious. That being said what was so atrocious that was said to Booch? All everyone was pointing out is that the roster management and MOS criticisms are now getting over the top. If that hurts Booch's sensibilities that was not the intention. It's the offseason. Let's see what happens this offseason before deciding what MOS will or won't do before INSISTING that he will do nothing. He moved on from his STC because results were below expectations, that's a good start....but when people acknowledged that Booch tried to sell us on a spin that would keep the MOS criticisms going instead of just acknowledging a good move by MOS and management. Why? I think what most of us who are saying we are tired of this narrative are trying to point out is that we literally have not had a discussion over the past 8-9 months where it hasn't been spun back to this same criticism over and over again even when it is completely inapplicable. I am not against upgrades at any position that make us younger and better. I just don't believe in setting someone adrift that is still very good until you have secured that upgrade.

  23. I never called it nauseating and have no doubt that you have some connections in regard to inside info. However, you will never convince me that you have any insider knowledge of how and who makes executive decisions in regards to the Bombers front office. They are a closed shell and notoriously good at keeping things behind closed doors. Booch, everyone here values your input a lot. It's just that your criticisms have been heard, acknowledged, and yet you keep repeating them over and over again. No ones arguing with you. Your point was made and you keep going on about it. You went on to try and paint MOS with a bad brush when he made one of the changes he needed to make. That's not fair criticism anymore, that's bias.

  25. Just keeps hanging around. Clearly he isn’t a fraction of what he used to be and they don’t and can’t trust him to start. Never liked him as a player love him in the booth. Kind of an odd situation. I feel kinda sad for him. All the heart and desire, used to be a star qb and he just keeps trying to recapture the past glory. yeah pretty much. If it’s prukop type money and his role it’s fine I guess. Suitor would be soo torn about drooling over him.

  32. Your whole post is fantastic . . . in theory. As a moderator, I understand the challenge of that role (professionally and personally), i.e., providing safe trusting environments where all (introverts, extroverts, ambiverts) feel comfortable sharing their diverse thoughts, views, ideas, perspectives whether fully formed or not with the common objective of contributing for the better. Especially with the current environment we live in, it's a wicked problem to solve and get better at in an adequate way. Unfortunately in practice a small minority of humans who consistently spout drivel, play the victim card because they're called on it and yell that they're not being heard ruin it for the diverse population who actually and legitimately aren't being heard and aren't being provided a comfortable safe environment to practice what you articulate above. This is what we have to debate more and figure out together. But not here in this thread.

  33. I have a hard time caring enough about an American team to actually HATE them that much (I reserve my hate for Canadian teams like Calgary or Vancouver...mostly because of their "fan"-bases) but Minnesota is starting to climb the charts..........

  34. Poached from an article on TSN quoting Hartman: “On my Ehlers suspension, Ehlers runs Kirill behind the net, so I make a hard, clean hit on Ehlers after I have the puck". Roll tape please. F'ing guy. Listen our players are not saints either (Dillion etc) but geez man, it's really hard listening to you rationalize your play. You went after Ehlers in retribution for his hit on one of your teammates but no balls to go after Dillion in retribution but instead go after a guy like CF. FFS. I'm really beginning to dislike this Minnesota team.

  35. I know at least 1 quality poster that stopped posting here after a years of casual homophobia reached fever peak this season... God forbid you like OShea or Holm, or think Kola isn't the worst thing ever, or thought Kramdi made a good play... you must be a knob gobbling shaft slobbering cock sucker! Lie to me and tell em I'm exaggerating, go ahead. But we're mean. At least 1 poster left possibly for good because of Booch, and who knows how many more lurkers have decided this isnt a welcome space to talk football because Booch is so revered here he can say whatever to whoever and still be MBBs darling... so don't worry, the saying is true "assholes live forever", Booch will be back, he doesn't care how any of us feel about him or how he speaks to others, he has made that abundantly clear numerous times. You couldn't get rid of him if you tried.

  37. The agent can offer that info but the second any CFL team comments back to that agent it's tampering. The very definition of it. You are not allowed to discuss players under contract with another team with their reps. PERIOD. You can back channel that info certainly though. Not really, but they could sure come in cheaper than our first and 2nd combined.

  41. I know he was brought in to shore up a bad situation BUT ... Exume's arrival didn't make that much dif. in our quality of 'overall' special teams effort....Individually he was one of the better players BUT it did not improve our situation as a whole.....Result is that we're looking for a special teams coach ...Hopefully it's Miller as this guy knows that part of the game inside and out

  45. We need jeffcoat healthy for the play offs, the mid stretch and ld. At this point I don’t expect him to be healthy half to two thirds of the year. But he’s such a monster when he is healthy. With that ir money off the cap jj is actually a bargain for the stretch and play offs. We need to focus on developing the rotational guys and stick to a roster that allows them to stay on. Mysterious injury aside, Habba should’ve been on the active roster all year. Should never have seen the pr. Love Cole coming back. That kids got a bright future. I love the aggression he plays with, and his athleticism really shows on the field. Some guys who are freaks like that just look slow to react on the field, not Cole. We all talk a lot about the depth and Canadians, and rotation that made our D great. But the most under rated factor imo was the versatility. Biggie could take a deep zone from mlb depth, Willy could drop back/swat passes/and play inside on cheetah sets, guys like Hansen and kongbo could stuff the run inside out in cheetah or 4-3 and get some decent pressure, stove was a nose but also a monster inside pressure machine, ba was the best cover s in ages, but also a monster in the run game. All our dbs could tackle solo or blitz and get pressure too. We had multiple guys who could play multiple positions in the secondary and kyrie could play multiple lber spots and fill basically any role you needed. we could run any thing from any set or front and execute simple to exotic looks on short notice. Cole has that exact kind of potential utility. That’s what we really need more in our young guys. The ability and willingness to go out side the norm and the comfort zone and do things that prevent the O from getting comfortable.

  46. Our teams in terms of cover and return has been carried by grant and a couple beast cover guys. Before that, medlock Carried teams. We couldn’t develop our national k/p, couldn’t cover, couldn’t return kicks with out grant, couldn’t develop return guys, and we spent a ton of draft capitol on ni teams guys who didn’t develop either. The kick cover alignment and game plan was horrid all year. Couldn’t get our punter to execute either. I think he will bounce back with another team and he deserves a look. But for two years he didn’t accomplish jack $&%£ as a teams co. I always felt that mos was heavily involved in the game plan. This last year he kept talking about having a plan and sticking to it. Despite it not working. I wonder if the relationship soured or boudreau wanted to make his own stamp and try to jump up from teams co like mos did previously. It’s strange. But this is going to likely be the strangest feeling mafia play off off season to date. I do think it’s positive that mos is willing to move on from a guy who’s been here for soo long. Gives me hope for the rest of the squad. Good (coaching) roster management.
