  1. Better get this one going... 2023 RATIFIED RULE CHANGES The requirement for the ball to be touched prior to ruling a rouge on a kickoff has been removed. This change aligns the rouge rule on kickoffs with all other types of kick plays. A safety has been added to the options for holding in the team’s own goal area. When a team commits a holding foul in their own goal area while in possession of the ball in their goal area, a safety has been added to the options available to the other team. The defensive formation has been restricted on kick plays. The number of players within two yards of the line of scrimmage on either side of the long snapper has been restricted to a maximum of six players at the snap. This restriction does not apply if the offence lines up in an unbalanced line or if an offensive player moves or motions from their initial position. This restriction only applies to field goal and kicked convert attempts. This change is in the spirit of player safety to avoid grossly overloading the defensive line on one side of the long snapper. Avoidable contact with an official It shall be illegal for a player, or an authorized member of a team bench area, to make avoidable contact with an official. This includes providing a safe workspace by keeping the sidelines clear during play. Officials cannot properly officiate a game if their attention is being diverted to the sidelines in hopes of avoiding collision or injury. When an official is contacted by a player, or an authorized member of a team bench area, officials will be permitted to check with the command centre to assist with a judgment as to whether contact was “avoidable” and if so, a 10-yard objectionable conduct penalty will be applied. This change will allow the officiating staff to call these actions confidently with command centre help. It will also bring much needed attention to the requirement of providing a safe workspace for officials. This change complements and builds upon existing rules regarding contacting officials that may result in ejections. Move the drive start position up five yards in additional scenarios: Section 5A – If a kicked ball strikes the goal post assembly in flight and when Team B intercepts a ball or recovers a fumble in their own goal area, the next point of scrimmage will be the 30-yard line. Section 5B – Penalty applications with fouls in the goal area will be applied from the 30- or 15-yard line dependent upon the foul. Section 6C – When a penalty or ruling awards possession of the ball to the opponent, the point of possession will move up 5 yards. These changes align the drive start adjustment made in 2022 with other scenarios. Teams cannot have players wear 0 and 00 Players shall be identified by the following numbering: Eligible receivers will wear numbers 0 or 00-49 and 70-99. Ineligible receivers will wear numbers 50-69. Having two players on the same team wearing 0 and 00 creates significant issues with the statistical and scouting systems the teams deploy. This change allows only one player from each team to wear the number 0 or 00.

In specific cases, it's not about denouncing people who aren't progressive enough. It's about what we can tolerate (each will have their list) and what we can't tolerate (each will have their list). That's education in itself.

  6. yeah...was gonna say...what was he watching??!?!...and if you look at the whole ball of wax from week 1 thru to the cup...with all the secondary turnover...injuries...guys playing hurt....guys apparently "having lost it" we still gave up fewest passing TD's....least amount of yards per game...and lowest completion percentage...or qb rating...one of them I think...maybe both....so all this moaning and groaning about the secondary is almost laughable We going into camp with a healthy Rose and BA...who I see training often and is killing it...Lawrence who I see as a potential West All-star...Darby from the get go...we all know Nichols is the best db in the league, and it's not even close....Houston back healthy and in the mix right out of the gate, and some solid second yr guys who will be in tough with some real good TC prospects...our backend is least of worries. With Barrington now in the fold....and that Beckett...and the incumbents I am a bit more at ease now too with the linebackers which was my big concern...and the Dline has some nice rotational parts now to sift thru to ease the load on the Jeffs, and get us back to that lethal dline rotation....that was the biggest thing that hurt us last yr...we didnt have roster depth, or makeup to do that pretty much all yr...especially when we traded away Wilcotts and turfed Mack....said right from get go the Loss of Kongbo and Hansen at start of the yr was gonna hurt us big time and mare than loss of Adams..Harris..Lawler...even Stove....and it did

  9. yeah....I see no shot of him making the club as a back up receiver in any way shape or form...The Highschool kid we signed that had Alabama after him would/should be kept before him on the PR as his upside potential right now is untapped...and likely quite high

  10. Could be a million things, even an opportunity to try him out and see if he can contribute as a special teams guy. The one thing I really doubt is that it’s a legitimate chance to make the club as a receiver.

I don't know how much you're paying attention, but Smith isn't really a conservative, she's a free wheeling libertarian with ties to many far right wacko groups that would be happy to tear down all vestiges of the equalitarian society we've built in Canada. If you can't bother to do your homework, maybe don't bother to vote either. Here are a few links to organizations she has direct ties to, it'll give you a pretty good sense of the their true political agenda, and clearly outlines their full intention of establishing Alberta sovereignty. Are you good with that? https://www.freealbertastrategy.com/ https://www.takingbackalberta.ca/ Notice the tattoo on her forearm? It appears to be a recent addition, it is the Ama-gi symbol, which represents freedom and liberty, but it is also well known as a symbol that brands a libertarian as a member of the tribe. It's also the logo of this right wing think tank. https://www.libertyfund.org/ She has also proudly displayed a "Don't Tread on Me" sign in multiple videos, perhaps there's a rebel flag on the opposite wall??? A few days ago she made the following announcement, by no means is she finished with these ideas, she's just hiding them in her back pocket until after the vote. "United Conservative Leader Danielle Smith says she won’t be campaigning on some of her party’s more contentious ideas – sovereignty legislation, a provincial police force and an Alberta pension plan – ahead of the May 29 election." https://edmonton.citynews.ca/2023/05/05/smith-sovereignty-act/

  12. With a us passport. Even by cfl standards that’s an odd duck. I feel like they saw some thing in him in person. Isn’t going to be any drama on this team. sr will get a couple more questions from the media that he will just shrug grin and be vague about. I have no doubt that the room will take care of rookies intro to fifo no matter their status. Any one who doesn’t fi will fo. Doesn’t matter if it’s a guy like lawler, Castillo, a blue chip ncaa/nfl guy, a high first round pick or a camp invite. Doubting the character of the room and the mafia at this point is ridiculous.

At worst he is still a good jump ball receiver, and an excellent blocker.. if we weren’t absolutely loaded at receiver I wouldn’t mind him being here as the 4th or 5th option.

  29. Pygrome looks interesting. Gets caught up using a wind up on deep balls, but doesn’t seem like he lacks arm strength. Looks much better when he’s using touch and taking some thing off the ball. Pretty savoy at eluding pressure and throwing on the run. Not a crazy dual threat qb. More mobile and kg esq. He lists between 5’9 and 5’10 and looks pretty stocky at 200-205. Not a lot of experience or film on Jackson. Testing numbers aren’t crazy athletic but certainly athletic enough. Likely not refined at combine tests as well. A teams and high character guy. This smacks of a guy mac or another scout saw in practice / pro day and he was just beasting. Kind of a flyer and i like the big strong de with versatility for that kind of camp addition. cole looks really good. A monster kr guy who transitioned into a wr role. 35 yards kick off and 26 yards per punt return in his best years with 4 tds. then had a huge senior year as a wr. Also put up solid running numbers in college. Alleged 4.3 speed was disappointed in a high 4.4 pro day. But had a 10 yard split of 1.46 which is insane. 37.5” vert and monster 127” broad jump. He also covered kicks in college and the nfl some and is supposed to be a good tackler. Which is great to have. Put up 46 tackles on teams in college. Don’t often see under sized d2 guys go to the nfl and make a pr little on get in some games. This guy has some lofty potential.

  31. I'd be shocked if MOSJ turns out to be anything more than another body in camp. He was an undrafted receiver in a fairly shallow draft so my expectations are low. That being said, if he does manage to snag a spot on the roster, I have no doubt it'd be because he earned it, and not because of nepotism.

  32. I trust the judgement of our management. They've more than earned the benefit of the doubt. For all we know, it could be a gentleman's agreement between the Osh's to let him get some game play on film in the preseason and hope another team takes a chance on him after cut-down day.

  35. Yeah. It was high useage on a bad offense but he is still a solid 5th. Might not be willing to take the kind of money it’d require to keep playing though. Also a great locker room guy and leader. If he signed cheap enough I’d actually take him right now. He’d qualify as a naturalized ni for us and give us depth along side boo behind woli and demski.

This is not a good place for me to comment on the specific examples that you cited. Feel free to PM me if you'd like. Some progressives are working on change. Denouncing people who we view to be not progressive enough - is not productive nor progressive - it is not an educational approach. That's where I differ with many of you on here - at least based on the way you post - which is admittedly about all that I know about you. My foundational tenet is the Sermon on the Mount and also the two chapters that follow it. This is also the foundation of my faith community.

Instead of actively trolling people in these political threads and further eroding the civility that remains and actually contribute to furthering the toxicity- wouldn't it be easier to just not visit the politics threads if it bothers you so much? Seriously, I mean you have a ignore option for posters who you see very little civility and who are not very respectful- you could just ignore those posters instead of trolling them. Just because you don't like it, I don't see why you need to advocate killing the threads that many people post in. You could honestly, just ignore the threads- unless you are trying to punish all those bullies and everyone else that post in those threads.

to me the tone of the discussion here is not different from that of the football, and hockey discussions. football forum, posters are referred to as some version of stupid, regularly, and vehemently. sneering, angry insulting comments are seen quite regularly. and often the discussions are not informative, or based on much in the way of facts. If we want to be consistent, may as well shut them down too, if insults and stupid, fact free posts are the issue. I dont have any problem with any of the posts, or posters, I just ignore the ones that seem to be simply arguing, to "win",or to annoy. and, while there is some silly back and forth stuff, there are also many worthwhile informed comments, that are quite good

Texas mall shooter wore neo-Nazi symbol and shared 'white-supremacist content online': report The man who murdered eight people using an AR-15 at an outlet mall in Allen, Texas, Saturday likely identified with neo-Nazi beliefs, The Washington Post reports. Allen resident Mauricio Garcio, according to The Post wore a "patch on his chest" at the time of the shooting that read "RWDS," meaning "Right Wing Death Squad," a "phrase popular among right wing extremists, neo-Nazis and white supremacists." Additionally, NBC reports Garcia "interacted with neo-Nazi and white supremacist content online." Last year, an Anti-Defamation League's Center (ADLC) on Extremism report revealed "all extremist-related murders in 2022 were committed by right-wing extremists," adding, "More than four out of five extremist-related murders last year were committed by white supremacist right-wing extremists." The report also noted "nearly all extremist-related mass killings were committed by right-wing extremists, and warns the number of those mass murders 'is of growing concern.'" An official familiar with the matter told NBC not only did Garcia engage with neo-Nazi content online, but he also posted such content himself. Regarding the issue of gun violence specifically pertaining to Texas, The Post reports: In 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recorded 4,613 firearms-related deaths in Texas. The state's annual death toll from guns has increased steadily since 2014. Led by Abbott, Texas has moved in recent years to loosen restrictions on firearms. In 2021, the state began allowing permitless carry so residents can carry handguns in public without a license. The state 'does not specifically put restrictions on who can carry a long gun such as a rifle or shotgun,' according to a Texas government website. ADLC's report added the "main threat in the near future will likely be white supremacist shooters," noting, "The increase in the number of mass killing attempts, meanwhile, is one of the most alarming trends in recent years."
