  1. It's not like we are letting him walk...he is obviously thinking on open market his value will be more...so we will all find out...it may be that the most he will find is 10-15 k more than what we offered and we match and all is good...but to throw a buttload of money at him before any other offers become apparent is foolish...and to mismanage your SMS in that way will reverberate through the roster elsewhere... his position isn't a super hard one to fill....and Bighill in no way will be slipping off after this year..I bet he has several other good ones after this deal left in him barring any catastrophic injury

  7. I agree with all of this except for the Roosevelt. Injury and age along with his likely fairly large $$$ make me hesitant he would be worth it. Burnham absolutely, if not Walker.

  10. Ball is 31 coming off a bad year. Dean is a MLB. Lawrence is 31 and coming off the worst season of his career. Awe is fine but JSK is better. Ackie is the classic overrated Canadian who puts up good tackle numbers but isn't a game breaker. Lokombo is fine I guess, probably better than Ackie but still JSK is better.

You mean to say they have a hard time drawing if their biggest Japanese names aren't booked and they just lost their biggest North American draws? Go figure!

  12. Now that I think about it, that is likely a damn near certainty considering how "fortunate" the argos are at grabbing big name players via FA or trade.

  13. with 2 first round picks upcoming, I really hope Walters can flip one in a trade for a proven player. with how Ekakite, Corney, Goosen, etc ultimately panned out (although Goosen gave us great play for a few seasons) I just feel like the draft is too much of a crap shoot lately.

  14. Apparently you take everything at face value and don't look into what the tweet meant. Did you happen to read the explanation behind why he said another Indian stole his bottle? You people are really sad to attack Jordan Peterson. What you're saying is slander. He's not a white supremacist, like AT ALL. And I'm sure KBF has watched and read many things on him as have I. Maybe it's YOU who needs to look them up in a biased way instead of just reading stupid tweets about him and judging him that way. He's an incredibly intelligent and open minded guy if you actually listen to him. But I doubt you'll do that because you'd rather just label him as you already have and want to see him as some "evildoer". I'm sure you probably think the Jewish Ben Shapiro is a white supremacist nazi too. Sometimes some of you people make me sad at the lack of open mindedness you have. You spout off about Feminism and accepting of LBGT community, etc... yet you close your minds down at anything that goes against those far left beliefs. And those of you who are bringing Climate Change into this thread. All you're trying to do is discredit KBF and whoever else by bringing up something that has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Usually people do that when they are losing an argument. Uggh...I didn't want to post in this thread, but your comments are turning into such BS that I couldn't stay out.

  15. My take from what I heard is I bet Chungh and Bombers will agree to something at the 11th hour....I will say now we moved on from Loffler and fill his spot at a lesser amount, also think that JSK will be back once he see's the market and most likely won't get this year what he thinks he should..especially as teams will be holding off on big money until the QB's are signed He also alluded to what I assumed is that they know what dollar value they have to play with and will target what they want...and guys will know to take a nice deal as the money may not be there when all the dominoes fall...so I'm not to concerned that we are going to be in a bad spot..Sucks about Corney but oh well. We ink Chungh...and bigtime receiver and a possibly a proven half back..I will be happy..anything else will be gravy in my opinion.. I also think too...with the 2 first rounders we have an ace in the hole..possibly a trade bait at the draft..or we can grab the 2 best guys with no worries of signing implications for SMS

  17. And the research shows that the gap is only 5-6% and it's only speculation that it could be gender discrimination and/or unwillingness to negotiate salary. Let me ask you a question, if you are an employer and have two equally qualified candidates, one male the other female and the female is willing to take 5% less in salary than the male, who you gonna hire? In the pure business sense, you hire the one that costs you less, maybe the SJW's just have a problem with business as usual? Because I don't see any argument for anything else.

  18. Carter is an undeniable athletic star who has been coddled and excused. Hi sense of entitlement will probably not allow him to humble himself enough to be a team player. He will probably always be a half-baked star-in-waiting hiding in the weeds.

  29. The man is doing things to give the CFL more exposure and opening up possibities for future development of players, and more importantly, revenue streams. Better than sitting and waiting for the football world to pass us by while we wait for things to happen. We need more forward thinking like this. Absolutely no harm in talking and exploring this avenue.

    The Gender Pay Gap

No, you just choose to be ignorant. Or, is it something else? I saw this the other day and thought of you and the other deniers. It's convenient to ignore and deny things because it might actually hurt you. It's the same thing in the climate change thread. https://www.macleans.ca/society/love-makes-the-world-go-flat/ If you want to believe in goofy faux-science theories—from the flat earth to cupping—it’s pretty easy nowadays to find a like-minded friend That's exactly what this is. Ignorance and hate. Jordan Peterson, the white supremacist, was used to defend your position. Pretty much sums up the whole argument right there.

  36. These are all issues. That they want to be discussed in the new CBA. They need to be started first.
    1 point
  37. My only gripe is the commissioner doesn't seem concerned with getting a new CBA signed.... this announcement is like painting your car when it needs a new transmission... sure, it looks nicer, but it still doesn't work.
    1 point
  38. Nothing, CFL teams do it already. Josh Bartell leaps to mind. Getting these players more exposure will probably lead to even more signings from around the world. I really don't see the drawbacks to any of this. It's not like CFL players are getting siphoned away to Europe... sounds more likely the opposite will happen, if anything happens at all.

  39. Remind me what is currently preventing any CFL team from signing a kicker from anywhere in the world....?

  41. I'm beyond incredulous on this topic. Of course that is an example of gender pay gap. But when I cite an example from the teaching profession, of administrators more often being male, you just dismiss it. Here, you have cited the exact same thing: not a difference in pay, but a difference in opportunity, which leads to a pay gap.

  42. Given the progress of the Bombers have made.... in turning this into a place, where the right kind of guys want to play........picking up a Carter, would simply be a step backwards. Let some one else deal with that drama.

Yup. Even last year when Popp went out and got him, Trestman refused to play him. When a coach would rather lose his job than to put a player in that might help, you know he's cancerous.

  47. Stadium deals has nothing to do with the commish. And I don't know, maybe it's just me. But typically when I think of "progressive" my mind goes to things that are rather new or haven't been tried before. Not doing very similar things the league and other commissioners have tried multiple times with varying degrees of success.

  48. Top Canadian prospects will still be competing....these international adds just means more players at the combine, and I bet of all the affiliations...you maybe might see 1...maybe 2 make it to a TC on a couple teams....but if it increases exposure..revenue possibilities etc....whats it hurt...rather have the Commish be progressive and think outside the box then have another Orridge or someone who has no clue
