  1. Actually just poking fun at the ole backpedaling phrase. For the record, I wanted Hall fired after last years playoff. However, given his abduction by aliens about 6 weeks ago - with now no soft zone, and multiple DL sets and blitzes.............may have to reconsider.

    Season Finale At Edmonton

A win in a meaningless game won't mean anything. This game changer moniker also only really matters to some fans. The coaches will do what they think is best to win in the playoffs. It would be foolish to play Nichols this whole game and risk injury in a meaningless game for the playoffs.

    Season Finale At Edmonton

My ideal approach... Prepare like any other week. Have the starters go through the reps and start the game. Then take them out, one by one during the first half. Let Nichols start and manage the first quarter. Let Harris get the rushing crown. Let Bighill tackle a few. Then, swap out as many as you can.

  15. Sigh... you know, it's one thing to routinely make a whole bunch of douchey comments over the course of months, but then to try and simply pretend that you have no idea what people could possibly be referring to is doucheyness at a whole different level. You know exactly what you are back peddling from, so just own who you are and move forward.

Pretty certain as shown by play as of late that Nichols is back in his usual head space, so meaningless reps with risk to injury will serve no purpose for him leading up to the play-off game...he won't be rusty or stale from a week off...

  21. I hope Augustine bets the bulk of the carries...we have seen and pretty much know what lafrance can do..Augustine is the big unknown other than a few nice pre-season game runs, and some nice burst in plays during TC

This long twitter thread looks at "eliminationism" -- the portrayal of one's political enemies as subhumans. spolier: attacks on immigrants, black people, Jewish people, LGBTQ folks, ethnic minorities are intrinsic to American politics. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1057678153252929536.html

  33. Riders gave up 25 TD's via the pass..Winnipeg gave up 14...how does that make your DB's better? you have 21 picks to our 19 with a game in hand...and about 4 or 5 have been gift flukes from lineman (Hughes 1..Jefferson..2..Antigah 2) and yes any time a lineman gets a pick it's a lucky fluke or a bone head play...unless they drop off 15 yards into the secondary

  34. Ahhh just remembering how lucky we were when Mack managed to lock down goltz, brink and Elliott in 2012 offseason or whatever it was... and we got goltz for only$150k - what a steal

  35. So what is the best approach to take for this game? Do you play all, most or none of your key starters? Should Chris Streveler get the whole game or should Nichols get the first half? The struggle is always never to needlessly risk injury to a starter in the season finale because playoffs have to take precedent, but at the same time you want them to get mentally ready for the big time and not go in on cruise control. One might feel this will be a game that Edmonton's players might be fired up and ready to play thereby giving us a competitive one as playoff preparation and here's why. Certainly the playoff picture is practically all set as we'll be in third place in the West regardless, and certainly Edmonton doesn't have that to play for. But Mass's future could be in doubt there, and the question could be whether or not the players want to come out and play to keep him there. If they do, we can definitely expect they will come out swinging hard. But even if not, they still could because they know if Maas is fired, the next guy might take notice and decide to cut anyone he doesn't think is putting up a tough effort. Lotta things at play in this game, lotta things.

  36. Well that lines up with many of the rumors that circulated around Winnipeg when he was here. I guess its really none of our business and he has that F U money now. They will likely settle so he doesnt have to answer any embarrassing questions publicly.

  40. 100 million is a lot of money for any province, including the smallish Nova Scotia provincial budget. The city council decision is a step forward, with huge challenges ahead. If successful with a franchise and new stadium, 8 cities could boast fine facilities. I’d like to wish them luck.

  41. 15 million that went essentially to the new gym on campus and stuff like that. Agree on JT vote buying but even if you got 25 million from the feds, getting the NS gvt to put up say $100 million or so is a lot.

  44. Masoli shouldn't get rewarded for stats he put up against sub-.500 teams, and playing the Argos 3 times. Threw almost half his TD passes vs the Argos. His stats against playoff teams are not good. It would be embarrassing for the league if he's MOP.

  45. My predictions: East: Player: Jeremiah Masoli Defensive: Henoc Muamba Canadian: Brad Sinopoli Offensive Lineman: Alex Mateas Special Teams: Lewis Ward Rookie: William Stanback West: Player: Mike Reilly Defensive: Adam Bighill Canadian: Andrew Harris Offensive Lineman: Derek Dennis Special Teams: Brett Lauther Rookie: Jordan Williams-Lambert Winners: Player: Mike Reilly - still the best player in the league, statistically or otherwise Defensive: Adam Bighill - pure beast mode, defensive nightmare and playmaker Canadian: Brad Sinopoli - surpassed Ben Cahoon's record for receptions in a season Offensive Lineman: Derek Dennis - anchors the line that leads the league in passing TDs and sacks allowed Special Teams: Lewis Ward - home town boy setting records while making some clutch kicks Rookie: William Stanback - 6.7 yards per carry, over 700 offensive yards in 7 starts... could be good for 2000 combined yards in a competent offense
