Arnold_Palmer got a reaction from kelownabomberfan in PS Game 1 day thread (finally Bomber football is upon us!)For sure Elgersma is 24 years old. Stetson Bennet was throwing footballs in college until he was 26. Way too early to pass judgment, he certainly seems to have a good arm, and I like the way he keeps his eyes down field as he moves around in the pocket to create time, obviously my major problem with him was holding onto the ball too long but not an un common problem with young players. Lots to work on for sure but I’m not worried yet.

I'm not as down on the qb play as some. For elgersma he's got such limited pro experience, if he's got a decent head on his shoulders he can learn and improve. Rourke was pretty **** his first season in BC too.
Perkins has some limitations but you can probably come up with a gameplan he was execute.
If the Bombers can't establish a run game won't really matter who is at qb.

Arnold_Palmer got a reaction from Bigblue204 in PS Game 1 day thread (finally Bomber football is upon us!)Love to see the complaining already. Up 17-7 after one quarter on the road against the grey cup champs who have a lot of their starters in and have already played a pre season game. In terms of Elgersma.. meh let’s give him a chance. He threw a good ball that should have been caught his first throw and even though he got caught from behind I like the fact he had his eyes down the field even as he was scrambling. So far really impressed by the defense. In particular the D-Line and secondary. Get some pressure and all of a sudden this good secondary is even better.

Arnold_Palmer got a reaction from Tracker in 2026 Bombers SeasonMaybe or it can be a case of Wilson being with the team for a few years feeling like he’s earned his keep and should be the back up, but wasn’t re assured ( nor should he be) and decided to quit. I’m not overly concerned. Thorpe by all accounts has interests else where. I’m going to believe it’s a case they believe in the guys currently on the roster at the quarterback position are going to be in a position to make the team better. I would feel the same way. Wilson is a good short yardage guy but if he’s never going to be a starter, and he’s not a specialist like Stevens really why would we continue to put time and reps.

Arnold_Palmer got a reaction from wpgallday1960 in 2026 Bombers SeasonYeah I agree. I mean JSK is a decent player and had a good year with Ottawa last year but I really wanted to get away from the 30 plus year old vet strategy, especially in a position I would argue we have a lot of pieces in place for some guys to take the next step and it’s unfortunate that injuries are part of the game but I want to see more from the kids.

Arnold_Palmer got a reaction from Bigblue204 in 2026 Bombers SeasonThe coverage for training camp has gotten to embarrassingly terrible levels. Just a few fluff pieces, and some individual mentions of nice plays. It would be nice to actually see some actual write ups of what is going on.

Arnold_Palmer got a reaction from Tracker in 2026 Bombers SeasonMy initial thoughts after seeing that they cut McGhee was positive. Not that he’s a bad player necessarily, but I don’t see him being that guy that’s going to be a difference maker at the position. We brought in a lot of talent in the secondary and I’d rather give the reps to the young talent on this roster. In years past we would have pencilled him in as a starter because he was a vet. it would be painfully obvious he was a weak spot and he would be cut by week 3-4 im glad, wouldn’t mind them moving on from a few more vets if im being honest with you.
Are you new here? There’s been countless examples of O’Shea sticking with a vet instead of giving a rookie a chance to compete for a position. I want the best players period, you use Allen as an example but he’s a prime example of a guy who has a great camp and it took countless injuries for him to get on the field when he should have been there much earlier. Do you really think Myron Mitchell was the best receiver we could have put on the field last year to start the season?

Arnold_Palmer got a reaction from johnzo in Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread100 percent. Nichols saved Walters and O’sheas jobs, and without him we don’t build a team and culture good enough to win a grey cup. No way we land guys like Jefferson or Bighill without Nichols. Just to reminder people how dyer it was. We were 1-4, not a single winning season since 2011, only one winning season since 2007.. we win 10 straight games, and really the rest is history.
