  1. I mean, it was the 50s... You guys had just come back from the war....

  2. New bodies were what fans on this site were pining for, instead of rolling back the same old vets. We’ll see how that goes this summer.

  3. Look at the teams making all the signings. The worst teams in the league. We signed the two best players on the market at less than market value. Relax, it is February 11th.

  4. Is it really a great trade if it never happened? Walby was on the d-line with Montreal but they released him as a paperwork type of move and we swooped in & signed him.

  5. I thought Betts retired before the west final... otherwise surely he would have played in that game

  6. We 100% will. Younger if from the Toronto tree which is a lot more Cover 3, 2 high looks. Less match coverage, doubt we'll see any Cover 0, which is basically what Hall ran the enter 4th Q in the last Grey Cup. Halfbacks and SAM will be a lot more of a playmaker role than a cover role I'd bet. Safety will be more defined role, less roving.

  7. That's exactly what will happen. Mike just choosing chaos lately. I'm here for it.

  8. I love hall and every thing he has done for this organization, and I think he was great at making adjustments.... but if his patented prevent defense goes away and never comes back I won't cry at all.

  9. Another thing to consider, although he's not new to the team, the new defensive coordinator will have a different idea I would imagine about the type of talent he is looking for to suit his scheme. It'll be kind of interesting to see how camp breaks down in that regard as its been pretty predictable as far as the roster the last few seasons IMO ...

  10. I know it's not an apples to apples comparison, but Betts getting a sniff down south and not Schoen, is particularly hilarious.

  13. Front 7 was always going to come down to the scouting department doing their jobs and finding some fresh bodies who can play.

  14. Sounds like DS’s injury prevented him from working out based on his media availability.
    2 points
  15. I don’t care if he tries it if not. He clearly didn’t get anywhere near the offer he thought he would and is willing to be a camp body for no pay. There was zero talk about him getting any work outs or having any interest from the NFL up until the negotiation window. He’s probably getting offered 200k - which I still wouldn’t do- and knows that will still be available in May from someone.

Reilly needs to be suspended. NHL needs to get this right, but I could see them completely booting it.

By most accounts that I've seen, he was a democrat. He was loud and proud about his patriotism, but he was less conservative than most people thought.

  22. Not everyone liked the trade at first. Hall won a Grey Cup and Neufeld was injured a fair bit at the start of his time with the Bombers. I remember Paul Wiecek saying the Riders the won the trade then he blocks me on twitter when I questioned his accessment. (I might have also questioned his sanity).

  23. This Betts thing sounds like him using Farhan to try and drive up interest and increase offers. Clearly not many people checking in with what he is asking for.

After the play, dirty cross check to the face. He should be gone the rest of the season. If this is during the play, totally different, but this is long after the play, the player is not expecting anything and was in a defenseless position. Dirty as it gets.

  26. I am a bit suspicious of the Younger move to be honest. I think Hall will have a lot of influence still. I hated how he coordinated the Grey Cup but his D game plan and play calling in the West final was an absolute master class.

  28. It’s front 6, but we have kyrie biggie with cole as a back up and Clement’s behind that. Some good teams rotational Canadians. Need a couple more rookie imps for camp but lber is in fine shape. At de we have wj and Habba as starters with Hansen backing up. Hoping for kongbo and again rookies. At DT we have fox and Lawson which I’d be fine with as our starters. We have some camp prospects already, plus korny back. More rookie bodies another Canadian from the draft would be nice. Personally I’d love to grab a guy like oakman as well, he’s still a fa with a dropping price I’m sure. the front is pretty much where you’d think it would be. Jj retiring was a surprise but thought he’d walk in fa any way.

I've read a number of interviews where he talked about generally voting Democrat. He was not the rabid Republican that people thought he was.

  32. Devils advocate: he’s not eligible for the NFL window the same way Holm, etc would be so the negotiation window would likely be the first you’d ever hear of any interest

Toby was unapologetically a Democrat.... Just extremely supportive of the military. His father lost an eye in WW2 and they were very much a pro military family.

  40. Overpaying for Nic Moore that offseason was a big deal for the turnaround too. He wasn’t the greatest or anything but it showed the club had changed mentality and was willing to open the wallet. It was the first time in like a decade a sought-after FA didn’t turn them down.

  41. He won't get to camp...and if he does it's for a body only and early cut...and no chance of a PR either...
    1 point
  42. He’s too small, too slow in my opinion. He can beat guys with a yard off the ball out of the set off the line in the CFL. He is not doing that down south. I’ll eat crow if he makes even a PR. But I have zero worry about doing so.

  43. Hilarious that a guy as overrated as Betts would get any look down south.... And at 29?! Unreal.

  46. Former GM at Atlanta from 2008 to 2020. His father was a former CFL Assistant & U Sports HC in Ontario. He started his scouting & admin career in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before moving on to the NFL. The reality is that the CFL is looked down upon by NFL media & fans. If O'Shea did get hired as HC by some piss poor NFL team, the first time they'd go on an extended losing streak or have some kind of controversy with the roster, etc... the deathwatch would start. He'd get no chance to turn a team around before he'd be fired. Look how short of a time it took for Marc Trestman to be fired as Head Coach of the Bears. One season. And before he came to the CFL he was a long time NFL assistant & qb coach in the NFL. Even though he had a long career in the NCAA as well as the NFL before he came north to the Als, he was always referred to as the coach from the CFL. O'Shea has none of that pedigree & I think he'd be in for a rough ride on a very bumpy short career road in the NFL. He's forged quite a path in the CFL already & he's still in his early 50's. He may someday make a choice to pursue an NFL HC gig but the answer is why??
