This likely worthy of a new thread but what changes should we make for next year? To me: Easy Choice-They Need to go Hogan, Kolo, Thomas, Mitchell, Logan Can Stay but needs a pay cut Zach ($600,000 is too much, $400-$450,000 would be ok) I feel like we need to move on Jefferson, Kyrie Wilson May Retire Bryant, Neufeld Don't bring back due to health Streveler, Schoen6 points -

Collaros seems to have settled into that comfort zone where he doesn't really care anymore. Was evidenced by the suspension he served. There's a whole lot of complacency around this team that needs to get gone. Preseason next year better be an absolute dog fight for spots.5 points -

I think what most people want to see is the attempt to get better at areas we know are a problem. Bring in bodies for Thomas until you find the right guy, try centres until you find a guy better than Kolankowski etc etc etc. Instead we stand pat.5 points -

Do you really feel like he's a worse player than Jake Thomas? Because we didn't need Thomas as a Canadian on the roster... this is the whole same argument! You just take it on faith that the coaches are making the best roster decisions they can which can be very easily shown to not always be the case.5 points -

So you don’t think we would’ve beat montreal with those changes, or been in it vs hamilton? Idk how you can look at this game and say lawson, thomas, kola off for griffin, imp, imp/eli doesn’t cover the spread when we took the lead as is. Hard to believe that take, especially with the lack of pressure and kolas wild snaps alone.5 points -
Count me out for trading Elgersma. He's the only guy that is really exciting me as a future QB for us. We need to go all in on rebuilding our o line and then pass the torch to Elgersma.4 points

Doug Brown summed it up nicely on X about 6 hours ago: "I think the frustration with this season does not lie in the reality that the championship era has come to a close. It's that it feels like the team never gave itself the best chance by what they didn't do to fill the cupboard. This season was a proverbial knife to a gunfight." Yep, that's on Walters & maybe even Miller. A huge organizational blunder.4 points -

You are quite right. However, after going to 5 straight Grey Cups and following that up with a disappointing season (where we made the playoffs and had double digit wins), a sane Wade Miller will not overreact and clean house. The chances that a less competent regime would follow this one are more likely than not. Changes? Sure! Cleaning house? That's asinine!4 points -

Do you think we win/contend if we made the following changes? We started 9 canadians, if we take thomas off the ar and lawson backs up adams/woods. Then you take lawson jr off for griffin. Kola (who had an absolutely brutal game not just blocking but snapping) off the ar vanterpool on at G eli at C. Nat imp wj, and dress either jenkins/jaworski for a pick em of imp lbers/dbs lets say ayers. With that line up the als aren’t getting gaps they can drive a truck through, or 5+ second pockets. We get solid consistent pressure instead, and when we got pressure on davis by play design we did much better on D. Imo, that line up doesn’t fall multiple majors behind in the first half. We win, and stand a very good chance vs hamilton. yes 5 snaps maybe. I had him making 2 big stops at the line on runs, but they ended up as gang tackles and credit went elsewhere. I know jones cleaned up one tackle i think kyrie the other. They got the stats (this happens a lot especially on the road)4 points -

This is O'Shea's M.O. But it should not be surprising, given his own career. He refused to retire at the end of his useful football life and had to be released by the Argos. If it had been up to him, he would've kept playing believing he could still bring it.3 points -
But these problems are one and the same.... guys with tenure never get challenged or replaced. We build the roster assuming they can still play the bulk of the snaps... it's the same problem! You're in until you're too hurt to play and even then maybe you still get to play.3 points

I get using a DI on a killer teams guy. You can usually build a package on D with them in limited reps too. But, it’s very situational. When you use 1 di spot on a Kicker, and another on the kr, you just can’t use yet another on a cover guy. Especially not one who doesn’t play D at all. You also need to have a high level back up ni wr or db and probably 2 ni/global DL who can bring a lot of value in moderate snaps. Most teams are going two di’s on the dl already, and or a naturalized player. It’s even harder when your kr isn’t a back up wr or a viable db. If vaval could take that step it’d be huge. but I expect him to get an nfl look.3 points -

Lawler would have made a huge difference. Collaros had basically one receiver he trusted for most of the season in Demski. Wilson he has good rapport with. Sterns it was developing. We had no big targets, catch radius guys, and we have a QB that is fixated on taking vertical shots. Lawler is probably the best guy in this era for the style Collaros thrives in. If you're going all in you keep Lawler and probably go hard at someone like Geno Lewis. You have Lawler, Schoen, Lewis. For the most part the rest of the free agents wouldn't have changed anything for us. It was a lot of pretty average DB's and OL. Like if we sign a David Beard are we a better team? Probably not. We got probably the 3rd best DL available in Vaughters. Ceresna was always going to Edmonton and they paid out the nose to try to bring most of Toronto's DL west. The fail here is 3 seasons of needing to improve the bottom third of the roster and find/develop the next round of impact guys. What do we have to show for those training camps? Ontaria Wilson? We're recycling DB's now, we've got no impact DL, a couple OL who look ok in Randolph and Vanterpool. Wallace might take a step next year just in time to get paid.3 points -

My 2 cents.. Wbb summed it up pretty good, Walters did some really good things, but many of them didn't see the roster. We seemed to have luck letting guys on the O line go to other teams for years always having the next guy....but then we seemed to stop drafting for position and drafted best athletes, but didn't always utilize them. This has been a slow process but came to a head this season. D-line for years we didn't prioritize spending, it has worked, with Willy as our only "prize" we have done this for years, but this year Willy's play fell off, Daughters was good, dependable but not great....and we suffered from it. Coaching MOS has always had good to great coordinators, some may not like Buck but the guy is a really well liked very good coach, going with Hogan was a miss. Can't sugar coat it, it was miss. Jackson, is a bit of an enigma....what did he do this year.... MOS appeared more stressed and flustered this year...why I feel the loss of guys like Andrew Harris, Biggie, Hardwick etc. that he stated were like coaches actually helped him more than we realize...not only did they both lead in exceptional capacity MOS trusted and had faith in them in assisting. He had full faith in Buck and Buck did tons behind the scenes to help....take all that away and MOS lost too many helping hands. We have leaders but they are not the same. Miller (sp teams coach) has filled in some of those roles and it would not suprise me in the least to see him continue and develop into a very good coach with expanded roles one day. I feel MOS without all the between input he was used to get "fumbled" a fair bit this year...I still believe he has some great qualities, but like any human he has weaknesses also...he needs the right guys around him to fill his weaknesses and we didn't give him that this year... We needed leadership and experience, but it appears this year we went to the well a bit too deep...it was clear the roster management could have used younger arguably more talented guys many times, but we rolled out the veterans....I do I understand the thought process, but as we step back it's clear now some of this thought process hindered the overall betterment of the team. In closing I believe Walters and Osh can get us out of this, Walters needs to focus on and spend on the lines. Osh needs to be surrounded with great coordinators, and he needs to start to move on as tough as it will be for him from some of his veterans....3 points

This past off season, Walters lost my support. We make such a big deal hosting the Grey Cup & our GM acted like it really meant nothing. Refusing to spend any money while watching a couple of big free agents walk. We all kept waiting for a big signing which never came. His sitting on his ass while blaming the CFLPA for it was the last straw for me.3 points -
Ok which one should be let go, in your opinion? I think it's a bit too early to judge their work. It's not their fault that the cupboard was bare when they showed up. We should have had more 2nd year guys ready to step up this season. We have guys like Jenkins and Jaworski that look promising for next year but other than maybe Person, I can't think of anyone from last season who was in that position this year. That all falls on Danny Mac and the previous scouting staff.3 points
-
on walters, I think we had a great draft and we had several key rookie imps. Allen, woodbey, vaval, plus the peterson trade, the rookie des in the last game, bailey, etc. We also did very well in the draft, and 180’d our teams in all facets from one year to the next because of it. We busted bad in free agency and resigning period. Then you have the X factor of guys like vanterpool, who as a guard was our best ol and at worst average as a starting T. We also cycled in some pretty good improvements in the secondary. The big problem is the decisions of when we replace guys. Why did it take soo damn long to get guys like woodbey and allen in? That’s not on walters. Walters needs to be better, especially in free agency. Also, in being the boss of football ops. Not his coaches lakey. But it doesn’t matter who we bring in if we don’t play them. Or if we run them into the ground while they are hurt like with strev, zach, and schoen.3 points

The only real impactful move they could have done differently in free agency 2025 is do what it takes to keep Lawler. The rest of the internal guys you're looking at guys at the end of the road moving on or all the JAGs sitting on Hamilton's IR. Really should have been planning for this Grey Cup coming out of 2023. Start rebuilding the lines, and really rebuilding them. Like basically start from scratch. We seem to have real issues finding Americans other than DB's. Been 2-3 years with huge holes in receiving core. Have found one real CFL player in that crew when we've been easily 2-3 short for a couple seasons. I think Jenkins could be a real special CFL edge rusher. Name names.3 points -

I think part of it has to do with O’Shea and the old boys club. Look at the few free agents we did sign in Jones and Mitchell. Both couldn’t sniff the field. Think teams entering free agency want to come here? Who knows if they will even get a chance to see the field. When it comes to young talent entering the league would they rather go to a place like Winnipeg, or a place like BC, Montreal, Toronto, etc where as long as you have talent you have a chance to make the team and are put in a position to show case talent. I think we’re suffering a lot because of O’sheas stubbornness with his roster management.3 points -

Knowing we had a variety of major issues with this 2025 team that need attention my arch nemesis for this year was our interior DL and running a three man front with JT even playing end the odd time! The first half today this arch nemesis of mine allowed Alexander all the time in the world and he beat us like a rented mule. Just gross to watch. I hope this changes in 2026 where we place way more emphasis on disrupting the QB. Make it a mantra or something.3 points -

Hey I'm not saying any of this is easy and I'm certainly not the guy you'd want to hire to fix things but it's not just about regression it's the way in which they're regressing. Poor coaching decisions, roster management, apparent poor scouting, complete lack of forethought given to preparing to replace ageing vets...and my goodness the complete lack of off-season moves to try and make a serious run for the Cup in a year you're hosting is not a good look.3 points -

Season was fumbled from the GM, on down. Recruiting and free agency were duds. The roster we did have was mismanaged, on a weekly basis. Questionable schemes on both sides of the ball, inconsistent QB play and no major adjustments made all year. We needed significant changes to coaching and the roster, at the start of the year Glaringly obvious now..........3 points

I think Adams is an explosive athlete who has made little to no progress on knowing what the hell is job is on any given play in 2 seasons. I don't think he's particularly useful. But yeah they could use more useful DL. I don't think they should have just sat on Person and Adams this year with Woods being up and down healthwise. Get guys in until you get what you need. It's hard with the way the NFL is now to get people up, but we certainly waste a lot of time on a lot of really poor American players. Wheatfall another example. Guy is producing a ridiculously low level for an American pushed into a 2-3 receiver role in a lot of games.2 points -

Next year likely sees a shake up in management/scouting and coordinators. Collaros will be back but Elgersma and another QB will be in town. New GM will have carte Blanche to tear down this abysmal roster and will be aggressive in FA. Probably seen the last of many vets. Once you get out of the top 10 of free agent rankings from the past couple seasons it's littered with guys who have been benched and cut. You can search up cfl.ca or 3 Down if you want to audit. Free agency isn't a way to build a team. The Bombers have had massive turnover since the 22 Grey Cup, each year since. It's honestly part of the reason why they are less competitive. They haven't back filled with young players who are developing into solid pros. Rookies have had tons of opportunity here. Some have taken it, some aren't good players at this level. But we focus on the whipping boys who have been here for awhile. Yes they've had a hard time telling everyone their time is up. Like to me Neufeld and Bryant should have been gone after 23. Jefferson I wouldn't have brought back this season. I'm not sure who you guys think is being blocked here. Like where's the all-star team of guys who haven't made it here in the past 3-4 years and are tearing up the CFL or NFL...even UFL.2 points -
