Other defense are free to suck, but the Bombers O and D both need to be dominant.

All US markets have an advantage. Financially, and anonymity for players. They will always attract the best players.
Gary Lawless wrote a really great piece about it some years ago... Canadian teams (and Winnipeg most especially) will always have the deck stacked against them because the best players, by and large, do not want to be here.... Or at least would PREFER to play anywhere else.
If I remember right, Lawless said something along the lines of "...the Jets may get lucky and win one once in our collective lifetimes, but it will always be a near impossibility..." Whereas places like California and Florida (not to mention places like Carolina) where nobody cares about hockey, will always attract the best players. The weather, the taxes, and the complete anonymity will always be most attractive to players.
It's just logical... We don't have to like it, but it makes all the sense in the world.

Cobb was with the #1 group all through training camp while Clercius was with the 2s. We never got to see if they were going to make the switch during the regular season.

Same thing they did at the end of last year, too. Clercius is on the opposite end of the room from the old boys club. Such a damn shame, but I am sure they are gonna burry him till his deal is up.

So also worth remembering, that Cobb is only playing cause Clercius is hurt anyway so it's not like he was a planned starter or anything.
