  1. Thank you Bombers for giving me another thrilling year to enjoy and thank you Morning Big Blue for giving me a place to share anguish and joy. Can't wait for 2022 to start. Dean

  2. I’m shocked at the idea of being “okay that we lose Desjarlais” He’s probably a top 2-3 priority for us to sign. Massive hit if he leaves.

  4. My low point as a Bomber fan came on the evening of September 27, 2013. As I sat alone in my section, watching some guy named Jason Boltus try to be a football player, I wondered if I was still able to do it. Could I still support what this once proud franchise had become? At that moment I never thought I'd live to see us win another Cup. When we won last year, I didn't even know how to react. I celebrated way more this year. Last year was more like stunned silence. The nightmare was finally over.

  5. Yeah, the current Bombers would crush those 1980s teams. Especially since most of the players from the 1980s would be in their 60s now.

  6. I think this thread is a little silly and kind of unnecessary... but then I remembered I did have a thought about the Riders before the Grey Cup and this seems like the appropriate place to share it... My theory is that because the Bombers played a terrible first half in the West Final, we have successfully screwed the Riders for the foreseeable future... and here's how: - because of all the mistakes the Bombers made, the game remained close... - because the game was close, the Riders truly believed they were in it and had a shot at winning... - and because they came "close" to knocking off the champs, they now believe they have the quarterback to lead them to the promised land... - and now they will hitch their wagon to Cody "Sprinkles" Fajardo for the next few years truly believing he can carry the team and gives them the best chance to win... Had the Bombers not tried to fumble the game away early... it may have been a blowout... and then they would see that they need to make changes... but that's not the case... and here we are. Anyways, I honestly don't really think about other teams too much... especially when we're the champs... but I thought some people would enjoy this so it seemed appropriate to share

  7. Same sentiments here. Loooooooooooong time lurker with the occasional post going back to the ourbombers days. Great to have a place to read/discuss the minutia of every single bomber related!

  8. I started out on our bombers as a 12 year old back in the early 2000’s. Found this place in 2012 as a young adult. Probably went years where I either just browsed or posted seldomly. I recognize a lot of the old usernames from the old site, a lot of great new posters from this site. I’m now 30 years old and me and my girl friend bought our first house together last year and I think I’ve had to sacrifice some of the things such as going out to watch the game, or going to all the games, so I’ve really grown accustomed to watching the game at home and having a beverage, with MBB in the background so I can chat with you guys. It’s a hell of a journey and a great community to be a part of!

  9. Thanks, I know Uncle “Slug” and my Grandfather would have been thrilled. I got to watch back to back Grey Cups with my Dad, which was pretty special. Dad played and coached HS and Junior ball. He’d take me to games starting when I was around 6 (I’m 34 now) We’d watch with binoculars and he would patiently explain exactly what each position on the field was doing, what they should be doing. How to tell if they’re moving properly, and how to watch a play develop. After watching, or at least talking about every Bomber game for nearly 30 years, all the ups and (mostly) downs of Bomber football, both probably getting too emotionally invested. Both nearly swearing off the team after our respective worst times at the stadium (Him the 87 East final, me many, but the 03 West semi specifically) The 19 GC was special, but so surreal I can barely remember it. This year we’ve had a pretty tough go, including, which I haven’t shared on here and can still barely come to terms with myself the loss of my 3 week old (twin) daughter in September. To be able to see the huge smile on my Dads face while he proudly held his surviving granddaughter on his lap last night, watching his team, his fathers team, our team, win their second cup in a row was an all time great visual. I can’t describe how much this season in general has been a welcome momentary distraction for 3 hours out of every week.

  11. Almost 24 hours has past and I’m still giddy thinking about the ending. In recent memory no better Monday at the office comes to mind. (Yes I showered and didn’t arrive wearing the same jersey all night) It’s been a great season on the forum. Thanks to @Booch, @Noeller and the rest of the guys that post daily. I don’t post often but I try and read it all. Whenever you guys are in town let me know, first round on me.

  13. Eli is a Canadian citizen, he can't be denied entry, regardless of vax status. The bigger issue for him and the club would be road games... Why bring back a guy who can only play half the games?

  14. Yes - we had CBC, CTV, CKND and French CBC. That was it. And yes, we were used as remote controls as well, but hey there was Old Dutch chips and dip!

  15. Ritchie Hall has no reason to retire. Brandon Banks on the sidelines after we scored the TD in OT, that guy looked like he was tapping out.

  16. On the game ending INT, 100% deliberate by Rose to deflect to Wilson, and that play belongs right up there in top Grey Cup plays right with Eddie Brown in 96. TSN totally botched that play, took forever for a replay, kept showing closeups of Ticats.

  18. I had tickets to the 100th Grey Cup in 2012, honestly hopeful that the Bombers stood a chance to be there after a solid 2011 season. That hope vanished pretty quickly, though. September 2012 was a traumatic month and probably the lowest I've ever felt as a fan. And that's saying something considering their 0-4 start to the season. I'll never forget the disgust I felt over the 52-0 blowout loss on Labour Day, watching Burke look completely lost in his new role after Mack pulled the rug out from under this team and LaPolice as though a head coaching change was somehow the solution to a roster filled with holes he chose to ignore in the off-season. The Banjo Bowl (last ever at CanadInns Stadium) a week later was like having dirt kicked in one's face, as DeAngelis kicked the game winner. Seeing the Riders and their fans celebrate was just gross. And then there was the 44-3 drubbing in Calgary a week after that. Brandon Collier laughing it up on the sidelines during that game was utterly infuriating to witness. I gave up on the team for a few weeks and then begrudgingly attended a game for free in what would be another pretty ugly loss at home to the Stampeders. Fortunately GC100 in Toronto was still a fantastic time and I got to meet Chris Matthews and congratulate him on winning ROTY. I know the following season was all kinds of ugly itself but I will say this: I had very little optimism going into 2013 with Bucko, Mack, and Burke running the show. Nothing changed in the off-season and so I had such low expectations from the get-go, as Mack once again addressed none of the issues with the roster and Burke just didn't have the traits of a competent HC. Unfortunately, that all cast an ugly shadow on the inaugural season at IGF, where the home team would manage all of one win there. Fortunately, that ended up being an absolute barn burner, watching the Riders get embarrassed by such an inept opponent. Seeing their fans leave the stadium looking as dejected as they did with the Bombers claiming victory was the highlight of that forgettable season. All that said, Buchko and Mack were thankfully shown the door pretty early on, leaving Burke as nothing more than a placeholder and Walters to clean up the mess left by Mack's abysmal management. Miller and Walters had their work cut out for them but that ultimately became the starting point for the successful regime and winning culture now in place. It took tons of patience but look how far this organization has come. Back-to-back champions and the class of the CFL.

  19. We couldn't afford the premier service depicted there. I think that's two bits for a ride.

  20. Yes, they do. When we went to the LDC in 2019, we took an Uber from the East of town to the stadium. Very efficient and the horse and wagon moved remarkably quick through the dirt roads.

  21. Those years, the Tim Burke years, I was really close to just saying "**** it". There are other things I can do with my time and money.

  22. 100% same boat. Was so close to giving up once upon a time and legitimately believed we'd never see a GC in my lifetime. 2019 made me believe anything was possible. Absolutely anything. This year I truly expected a GC win, and was/am mad that it was even that close. Definitely celebrating way more, because I expect it now. This team isn't just good, it's a large gap better than the rest of the league.

  36. Yes totally different eras. Can you imagine how many goals Connor McDavid would score if he was playing in 1981 instead of 2021? It wouldn't even be fair (hardly fair now!). I agree this team would crush the teams of the 1980's. Conditioning etc has changed a lot since those days. And yes, this team has a ton of talent. It just seemed most of the season we were playing in a different league than most other teams, that's how big the talent discrepancy was.

  37. A case can definitely be made. The steadying kicker putting points in the bank was huge. With our kickers prior to Sergio, we don't win. Guaranteed.

  39. I can honestly say, and let me tell you it has not always been the case, I knew without a doubt we could still win this game when the chips were down. That’s how special this team is. Here’s hoping for back to back to back.

  42. O’Shea is now six-for-six in Grey Cup games. He won all three of his appearances as a player (1996, 1997, 2004), his only appearance as an assistant coach (2012), and both of his appearances as a head coach (2019, 2021). Winner Kinda like Cal Murphy version 2

  43. Yep, jumped out of my chair instantly. I knew it was done but didn't realize how crazy the play was until the replays were shown.

  44. Stole this from Riderfans first game ever (exhibition) -first regular season game (our home opener) -first playoff game (West semi) -first West final -first Grey Cup game? Say it aint so. I hope O'Day has a plan for '22, if the Bombers win the Grey Cup at Mosaic we may have to bulldoze it and start again. If they keep that team together they will certainly be the favourites.

  45. No way we would win without Castillo. Once we traded for him I was pretty confident about our chances of winning it all. He came up huge in the biggest game of his career.

  46. true statement of team and why we win, and was how we were built....Cats focused om the Jeff's.....our guys in middle stepped up...even tho the Jeff's were still impactfull Take away run, and Demski....no problem....Bailey and Adams with key grabs, and Woli clutch as always when utilized Wilson, as like last playoffs...just makes solid big assed plays....lets Biggie do his thing.....Darby...solid....best acquisition last year....I thought he could have had some MOP consideration in Grey Cup...guy is flat out good, and is exactly the lockeroom/culture guy this team seeks.... Our rookie DB's....game changers, reason why we won today...Alfrod is a stud and took a lot of limelight away from Nichols, but he has been flat out best in league at his spot all yr...without him..we don't win the cup....Rose....thank you Kyle for having the $$ for his possible return...his play to get ball to Wilson was epic...one of all-time great Grey Cup plays Collaros...what can you say...kept his wits about him when he messed up and odds seemed stacked against us...didnt show any weakness went about business and got job done when it was crunch time....dude just wins....many others would have wilted and imploded...hello CFaj Adams was clutch...just like in 2019 playoffs...thats why he here, and Zack alluded to that too...just made the big plays...kept boys calm....irritated the Cats...love me some Adams any big game....And Bailey....who wouldn't want a a guy like that on the squad....really evolved this year....and dude is clutch..good...and all about team...Cats focused on our stud Lawler...Bailey and others picked up the slack Harris....what can u say....last part of 4th...in O.T....he was huge....key to the comeback success Man...just love this squad....wanna see em all back to be honest...sadly tho...some wont be
