  2. I'll tell you what I find weird: The same people complaining that Dane Evans and the media shouldn't have been so open about GETTING HELP for his psychological issues are now complaining that he's "mentally weak" and "needs to get right between the ears". If I shook my head any harder, I could churn butter in my ears.

  3. Not sure if I'd consider this massive news... pretty much the only landing spot left for him.

  4. I think it's important to acknowledge that O'Shea has a soft spot for veterans and people who have earned their spot in his eyes.... So in that regard, I still think Kola is pencilled in as C with the 1s right now, but absolutely Osh will give Eli the chance to earn the spot at camp. The vaccine controversy ended the moment they signed him to the new contract.

Yes. But again, there are issues other than funding. There are serious social issues in many classrooms. There needs to be long - term community building.

  7. I like Sayles but $200,000 per year is an overpay.

  8. Hard no. Evans is far and away the better option. Faj is a complete and total mess. Even at his best he was MAYBE a 3rd string guy. Now he's beat up and has nothing left physically. I wouldn't want that anywhere near a lockerroom where he can make everything about himself. Evans is young, and while his brain is wonky, he's got time to fix it. I think he'd be a WAY better teammate than the Faj. Evans and Maier in Calgary would be quite the combo, I think.... Evans works better in that 1a/1b situation....

  9. BC looks to be taking a big step back. Riders still have more holes than a piece of swiss cheese. Everything's coming up Blue Bombers.

  10. would have liked to keep Sayles for rotation...as he proved that he can rotate inside and off edge last yr, but 200k per doesn't work here, and we can get same kinda production, with better upside cheaper...happy for him to get paid...he has worked hard last 2 yrs to earn it...but you cant keep everyone

  13. I doubt that Evans would fit in our salary structure, but I think that if he could get his head straightened out, working under Collaros and O'Shea and the FIFO system would be the place it would happen. Oh and by the way, just popped over to Riderfans. Apparently, everything is going to be just fine.

But that would require campaign platforms that look beyond the current election cycle. Unfortunately, 30 - 35% of Canadians just don't buy into that way of thinking. See climate change, homelessness, child care, long term care etc etc. I'm currently reading "Too Dumb For Democracy" by David Moscrop. He cites neurological (and so far - not sociological or psychological) studies that show the human brain in many cases is still evolving from "survival mode" and into "survival in the future mode". This would certainly help explain why a solid chunk of people (even people who lead relatively comfortable lives) vote against society's best interests because they can't appreciate or embrace long-term thinking. It's very thought-provoking.

  18. Sayles is a good player... and I'm disappointed to see him go... but at that cost... I have the same feelings as I had towards Dejarlais... good for him to get paid, but I'm glad we didn't sign him for that money

There is a saying that the best time to plant a tree was 19 years ago and so it is with demographics- all this is and was predictable. The race to the bottom has produced and is still producing these effects. There are too many people who chant the mantra of lower taxes above all and politicians who delude people into thinking there is no consequence to cutting taxes with no thought for the future,

  20. I would doubt that we look at an experienced QB3. As mentioned, we have a QB2 that's under contract and as "entrenched" as can be at this point, so they'll likely just bring in another college kid to tutor for now.

  21. A change of scenery can help a beleaguered athlete - and QB is no exception. Take the Blue Bombers' current starting QB, for example. The same could happen for Evans and Fajardo depending on what team acquires them. Of course it is.

  26. Seems to be the order of the day. I love sayles he had a really under appreciated year for us. But the fit isn’t there. Not with our ni rotation at dt beside him. we need a nose. I’m happy for sayles getting paid and he’s gonna fit in really well in Hamilton. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a huge year.

  27. He had a pretty good playoff game against the Bisons (3 picks) but I haven't seen a lot of draft talk about him. JC Abbott from 3DN had him in the honorable mentions section of of an early top 25 article he did but haven't seen much else yet. He's supposed to be participating in the combine in a few weeks so I would expect to hear more after that. https://3downnation.com/2022/08/01/3downnations-way-too-early-top-25-2023-cfl-draft-prospects/

I don't know too many of the details of the health care situation But I do know the issues in education will soon be exacerbated I just heard some of the numbers yesterday: 1/6 of Manitoba teachers are headed for retirement in the next 2 years - most of them will choose not to work as subs That's less than the number of graduates that will be coming out of Universities - we have a teacher shortage coming very soon Saskatchewan is already faced with a teacher shortage In both healthcare and education, it's going to take more than money to fix the system

House Republican Twitter Hearing Was A Complete Flop Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) warned former Twitter employees that they would be arrested for rigging the 2020 election as the hearing flailed and failed. Higgins said, “You, ladies and gentlemen, interfered with the 2020 election knowingly and willingly. That’s bad news. It’s going to get worse, because this is the investigation part. Later comes the arrest part. Your attorneys are familiar with that. Mr. Chairman, I’d like to spend five hours with these ladies and gentlemen on depositions that are yet to come.” As Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) explained, the former Twitter employees were in a private company, and their actions were protected by the First Amendment. Twitter can decide what content it publishes and which users it allows on its platform. The employees committed no crime. There will be no depositions or criminal trials.

  35. Yup- Tyler's going with the heavy balls. In all seriousness, Edmonton is going to be the team to challenge us this year. Not without a qb they won't. This might be the year that the east is actually tougher than the west though.

  37. 200k for Sayles might end up being the worst move of the entire off season. Wow I can’t believe Hamilton is throwing that kind of money at him.
    2 points
  38. Sayles made the odd good play, but nothing that would make him a priority for the Bombers to retain. Sempre avanti!

  39. Interesting. If Walters was willing to let him walk, I'm sure they have a plan for DT, which is our only real hole at this point...

  40. I almost spit out my coffee at that one. Do you seriously think that O'Shea would ever play games like that? "Eli, I know you're a starter but I'm afraid that we might make some of the boys angry at me if I play you. They'd much rather see us lose 'cause that would sure show you a thing or two. And you Lawler, you got a lot of nerve signing with someone else last year So the both of you have a seat on the bench."

  41. Moore is a great value play. 2nd year off ACL. Edmonton building the right kind of core around Cornelius. He's a quick game guy, not going to sit in pocket and make reads.
    2 points
  42. I don’t think any functional roster operates by keeping your best players on the bench for no real reason. By that logic Nichols and Alford wouldn’t have been day 1 starters.
    2 points
  43. I'm not sure O'Shea would play those types of games... he's not he coach he's become by not being honest... the best player will start
    2 points
  44. 60 points and 500 yards? That's a little low, don't you think? 70 and 650 is what I'm thinking. This season cannot start soon enough!
    2 points
  45. especially when you consider it took him 4 or 5 games to "figure it out"... and he still reached 1000 yards... he could be in for a special year

  46. Sky is the limit for Brady. He was probably our most improved player when you compare his work early in the year towards the end of the season - and now with an off-season of training where you know you're the unquestioned lead back on the best team in Canadian football, which happens to be your town....stock up. Way up.

  47. Reading that Insta post, I felt like he's matured from the guy who got a DUI a couple of years ago. We've seen the steps WJ5 has taken in his life, in terms of maturing, and I think we're seeing it with Lawler now, too... and this man is ready to do work in '23!!
