  1. Hate to hear the news on Rourke. brightest new star the CFL has seen in forever and he loses half a season to a freak foot injury. Hope O'Connor has some game in him.

  3. With the state of qb'ing in the league he'll get 5 offers if Calgary goes with Maier though. Toronto, Ottawa, montreal, Hamilton, Edmonton, Sask all make sense at the right price.

It's still shocking to read the details of what went and is still going on . How the US teeters on the edge. It is in some ways fascinating ( not in a good way ) for someone who enjoys history, to watch a country slide into outright fascism. I was always interested in how the German people ,the country as a whole slid into backing Nazism. Just like this I suppose. Bit by bit. What is normal now would have been shocking 10 years ago. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/aug/20/rusty-bowers-interview-trump-arizona-republicans

😂 @the watcher my library has this book, so just requested it. good reviews. "The Death of Democracy: Hitler's Rise to Power and the Downfall of the Weimar Republic Hardcover – Illustrated, April 3 2018 by Benjamin Carter Hett" a riveting account of how the Nazi Party came to power and how the failures of the Weimar Republic and the shortsightedness of German politicians allowed it to happen. Why did democracy fall apart so quickly and completely in Germany in the 1930s? How did a democratic government allow Adolf Hitler to seize power? In The Death of Democracy, Benjamin Carter Hett answers these questions, and the story he tells has disturbing resonances for our own time. To say that Hitler was elected is too simple. He would never have come to power if Germany’s leading politicians had not responded to a spate of populist insurgencies by trying to co-opt him, a strategy that backed them into a corner from which the only way out was to bring the Nazis in. Hett lays bare the misguided confidence of conservative politicians who believed that Hitler and his followers would willingly support them, not recognizing that their efforts to use the Nazis actually played into Hitler’s hands. They had willingly given him the tools to turn Germany into a vicious dictatorship. Benjamin Carter Hett is a leading scholar of twentieth-century Germany and a gifted storyteller whose portraits of these feckless politicians show how fragile democracy can be when those in power do not respect it. He offers a powerful lesson for today, when democracy once again finds itself embattled and the siren song of strongmen sounds ever louder." definitely sounds a lot like usa right now. misguided politicians. ie.....Joe Biden, who said McConnell is an honourable man. edit this is very humorous... Rick Scott at work. hang on to your wallet 😂 National Republican Senatorial Committee funds declined to just $28.4 million by the end of June. (Photo: Manuel Augusto Moreno via Getty Images) "A number of Republican strategists and consultants are growing increasingly dismayed about millions of dollars vanishing at the National Republican Senatorial Committee — just when the funds are needed most, The Washington Post reported Friday." yahoo news. 11. Man that is shifty news. As much as I love the Bombers it was good seeing some parity in the league. Not saying that can't be the case still, but Rourke was a game changer for the league. Kid was putting up otherwordly numbers and I would have liked to see the finish. Still. He is a young man and hopefully this is just a speed bump

  12. I truly doubt the Lions will have that problem next year. They'll be looking for a QB. Rourke will be in the NFL for at least a couple seasons. This injury doesn't change that. If anything the timing helps as opposed to him getting dinged in October or in playoffs. One thing I couldn't help but thinking when the injury happened was how lackadaisical Campbell has been at pulling Rourke and/or shutting down the drop back passing game when the Lions had big leads this year. Got burned big time now.

  13. It’s that kind of arrogance that cost us the 2001 Grey Cup. And the way our o-line has been playing lately, Collaros and his sensitive skull are hardly bulletproof. I’ll wait until November 20 at 10:00 pm to do a victory lap.

Probably season ending. I won't dare gloat or say that we've got first place locked up. We all know what could happen if.... Don't even want to think about it. Especially with B2B games against the Riders & that POS Garrett Marino,

  19. Cgy should be a running team. They have 3(when all are healthy) legitimate running backs and big WR who in theory can block well. Their qbing and pass protection has been suspect all year. There is absolutely 0 chance CGY trades away Bo to anyone before the end of the year. That's just not going to happen.

  23. Coaching cap is probably why they’re allowed to get away with it - but if you look across the league - the teams who don’t have coaches wearing multiple hats are more successful. playing that many snaps in the preseason could be a bad sign.

These low level arrests and subsequent minor sentencing imposed after trying to undo an election is a major joke. The whole Justice System and some of it’s players that implement it aren’t as important, independent, smart, upstanding, moral, ethical, legal, follow the rule of the law and genuine as they have convinced themselves that they are. And no one is there to hold them accountable. No one. It’s a farce and Trump has pulled the curtain wide open on it.

There are many documentary series on You Tube that explain how this happened, some of the best ones are German produced. The Timeline series is very good. I find the subject fascinating, but not sure I see a direct connection to what's happening in the US, as it takes a large majority of a population to fall in line and fanatically follow one maniac to destruction. I still believe a vast majority of Americans would choose not to follow.

  26. We have to be cautious about Collaros' health, not panic-stricken. I'm pretty sure that some of the Rider fans are wishing on end of ill on Collaros, and I would feel a heckuva lot better if we had the o-line we had last year, but you go to war with the army you have, not necessarily the army you want.

  27. BC kinda begged for this to happen tho...cant deny it...in every game he was in there well past practical...save smart and prudent...so hate for it to happen...and would never wish it but it was avoidable. In my opinion I see PIpkin starting this week against the Riders...and even then I still see B.C winning..that first game after an injury like that a lot of times teams come out hard and get that win....then reality sets in and other teams see what they have to scheme against. Nothing is ever guaranteed but it makes our opportunity to clinch a west final much easier

  30. The foot has 26 bones. Mostly small & hundreds of thousands of nerve endings. They're needed because we use our feet for balance & we need receptors to tell us if something is hard, slippery, wet, sharp, hot or cold. This makes the foot very sensitive after surgery. Whenever surgery is done on the foot, recovery is slow. Not only because the bones need to heal but the nerves damaged in that surgery need to regenerate & heal. That takes months because it is a slow process. some nerves will come back but others may never be the same. Surgical procedures have changed but healing time hasn't. Rourke will have the best doctors, surgeons & physiotherapists taking care of him so he should heal a little quicker than you & I. It'll still take months.

There have always been and probably always will be those in any group who will side with an aggressor to benefit themselves, if only in theory. There were Jews (mostly lawyers, alas) who helped the Nazis round up other Jews in Germany and elsewhere on the promise that they themselves and their families would be spared. However, as soon as their usefulness was at an end, they were put ontot he trains to Dachau. In wartime England, Edward the 8th, who abdicated to marry and American divorcee, let the Germans know that he was willing to be their puppet ruler of England should they decide to conquer it. So it is in modern-day America. This is directly connected to Blacks, Hispanics, Semites, Asians Jews and women who support Trump and all he stands for to gain privilege for themselves and doom everyone else. And BTW: one of the Koch brothers died about a year ago, so he has gone to his "reward". Hope he dressed lightly.

  43. I just watched both games back to back... I still can't fathom why Caleb Evans has started the last two games? Arbuckle has shown that he can run a normal offense successfully and you keep trotting out a QB who can only run and has shown zero progress on his subpar passing from last season. Unbelievable. Also it was amazing watching the Ottawa defense come out and quit in the 2nd half. The panel including Milt were saying "FIRE THE COACH" , I can't see LaPo lasting any longer. He's done and maybe he'll find work as a scout or something someday. Who is going to hire him as an OC or coach again? My prediction... Jason Maas HC of the RedBlacks in 2023. Litre the RB from the elks reminds me of Josh Ranek, guy is gritty and grinds for extra yards. For the 2nd game I never thought I'd see the day where Glenn Suitor gave up on Fajardo. I can't see how that fan base will tolerate any more bad starts from the guy. The knee brace excuse isn't cutting it, the dude can't throw for ****. It's laughable at how bad he is, Fine isn't anything great at all but at least he can drop back and physically throw a 50/50 ball to the receiver. Marino trying to headshot Lucky was dirty... good on the panel for calling him out on that weak interview that he did earlier this week. Marino is going to get run out of this league this year. Absolutely sucks that Rourke is hurt, that looked bad. The guy was going to be the MOP and was becoming a superstar that this league needs. Hopefully the injury isn't long term, O Connor looked stone-foot and I can't imagine him doing well against an aggressive blitz.

America appears to be so close to the edge of outright civil war that it will not take much of an incident or encouragement, even in coded speech, to trigger it. Perilous times for decent Americans and an opportunity of a lifetime for some to profit from it or aggrandize themselves.
