I deleted Twitter. I don't think I'll go back to be honest. I don't need to spend copious amounts of time arguing with idiots and bots. It is such a cesspool of things that aren't real. As much as people find it useful, I think in general it's making everyone's life much worse and they don't realize it.

Collaros has had a lot less consistency as well as bursts this season. A few giant games and a lot of games with very mediocre production. And that's with an all-time season out of the tailback plus a guy like Schoen. I guess what they really have to drill down onto is what is him and what is the offense.

You can't argue anything in the future of any quarterback at all with any evidence. Depth is important. Using the whole roster is important for sure. The past two years it's been kind of a "these are our day 1 guys" and we'll only deviate from this group if a limb is amputated. Montreal dominated the playoffs with a DB crew they basically built during the season, much like our team built a DB crew in 2019. We helped them significantly by playing 3 receivers who basically couldn't move.

Glad to see Herb has so far survived his bladder cancer and is still fighting. He's a good writer and the CFL needs all the good writers it can get.

I believe I have seen more happy feet, critical INTs and indecision this past season than in previous ones, and that concerns me.

Edmonton and Calgary are going to be flash points for the league very shortly. Disappointing how nonchalant Ambrosie is toward the strife in these markets. Facility issues there are huge. No use pining after a 10th market.

Have you considered that this need to have all the information now is part of the problem? The socials are not good for people's mental health. You don't know how many times I've suggested that my wife just stop scrolling Facebook or Instagram. It causes her anxiety. Course she never listens.

Well, you can weigh the pros and the cons. Up to the minute information is nice I guess. But I've decided that I don't need to be that much in the know about anything anymore. If it's important enough I'll learn about it later. I just dont think it's good for me. More of a personal decision than anything. And one I think some people could benefit from.

Despite the cost it is the right answer. 3 or 4 Billion to move it now or 700 Million for Arlington Bridge and then 1.5B for Slaw Rebchuk and on and on in to the future. The possible economic boon from the area currently covered by the rail yard was estimated at 4 or 5 times the cost of moving it (if my memory is correct). How many housing units could be built on that land (after remediation) and the societal gains from removing the division between the North and the rest of the city would have a value as well, but I have no idea how to place an amount on it. We need to get past doing the cheapest right now and start doing the best for ever solution.

Not many comparables to Dru Brown's first 150 passes though historically. Collaros about 30 points lower in QBR and quadruple the turnovers...was playing on defending Grey Cup champs. Reilly had half as much playing time it his first go round with BC before he was the guy in Edmonton and was about 25 points lower in QBR, again playing on a Grey Cup team. Bo Levi almost 30 points lower through same point of his career, double the turnovers again playing on 12 and 14 win teams. So the "YEAH BUT THE BOMBERS ARE AWESOME SO DRU BROWN MEANS NOTHING" argument is kind of moot in these comparisons. We might be in a CFL type of Alex Smith - Pat Mahomes situation. Obviously a lot more variables in the CFL.

This is going to be an ongoing issue with both the expansion of NFL PR's and drop of eligibility restrictions combined with CFL starting season earlier leaving fewer game cheques for guys who return. In Ford's case the amount he could have made joining the Bombers in mid-September would be dwarfed by a couple/3 weeks on a NFL PR. Plus the timing of the CFL offseason really hamstrings guys trying to stay in contention to make NFL teams for the next season. Really if he came back this season that's a career long decision not a 2023 decision. They have a lot of work to do to make navigating this more pleasant for guys to come back at the moment.

Thing is we could have rostered Mauro and Hansen when he got healthy...Our Mauro and Karamoko and let him develop actually getting reps...The punter wasn't required and Castillo is a more than adequate punter and could have gave us likely better over all results with what the Aussie gave us.....sure his net avg seems decent, but the eye test of consistently losing the field position....not even being able to get it to midfield when punting from deep in our end, and the cover issues were abysmal all yr...and hurt us often. Osh got all enamored with the goofy crap he was doing in camp, and in pre-season and from that point on we were hooped and stuck with him regardless...thats The Osh way...Just as we were stuck with a pointless FB....A non-use of the Nationalized American rule, his commitment to continually having Thomas trot out, and the wasted use of Bennett who offered nothing, but was a first pick so we had to save face....hopefully 2024 was a learning season

Let's project current stats into the future, just for fun. In the same offence, Brown in fact threw 20% as many passes as Collaros in 2023. Based on Collaros's 15 picks, running the same offence, you'd expect Brown to throw 3 picks. But he didn't, he threw 0 interceptions. Meanwhile Collaros threw 33 touchdown passes. Brown threw 9 TD passes. If you extrapolate that based on equal playing time Brown would have thrown 45 touchdowns - far more than any QB in the CFL. The other thing is that Brown has a much quicker release than Collaros, that's a big part of his success.

He was arguing the past. He said 2023 Zach looked like late career BLM/Calvillio (although I don't think Calvillio really ended on a bad note - can't quite remember off hand). BLM is hot garbage. Zach was first or second in the league in every relevant category.

For sure. We certainly don't want some assclown getting his hands on the Shmoes just because he is the only guy in Edmonton willing to take it on. That being said, that is a pretty strong union town, I think community ownership will be something that the unions get behind and help fundraise to keep.

Just so happened to have my regular session with my therapist yesterday and talked about the whole thing and how messed up I was (each day gets better in minuscule increments) and he explained how it's very much a grieving process for a lot of people and a really common thing. But I 100% agree... every time I scroll through the Twitter timeline and see **** about the Als GC parade, I'm physically sick about it. It's gonna take me until well into the new year to get over this. I am in a place and I think the team is still in a place where the proven vet is still worth more than unproven potential. But I 100% understand where you're coming from. And aside from our personal opinions, I also believe there is zero chance the team moves on from Zach, so there's almost no point in even considering that option if we're sitting here trying to figure out what next year's team will look like. But also...people who have been watching QB's forever as well as the numbers are saying this guy is special, and that's not based on the supporting cast because there are plenty of younger QB's who have been handed top teams in the league through the years. The sample size isn't really that small at this point. It's about the sample of 8 full games for a QB which is half a season. People were frothing over Reilly for half as much sample.

The whole thing is only valid if it's a shitty team looking at brown to save the franchise. But if it were winnipeg keeping Brown... well we've seen what he does with this team in this situation and this past season it was quite frankly better than collaros. (Small sample size but it is what it is). So if the guy can succeed here it's not as risky as asking him to turn chicken **** into chicken salad.

I saw some very big backwards steps from collaros this season and he's at an age where that is concerning. Then you consider his salary and the impact that has had on the teams depth.... It's a conversation I don't expect the team to have but feel they should. What happens if we lose brown and collaros regressed more?

Could just as easily argue that you don't know what you're going to get with Collaros anymore, who is looking more and more like BLM or Calvillo at the end of their careers. Meantime Dru Brown threw for just under 1000 yards this past season and had the highest overall QB efficiency rating of all the QBs in the CFL - by far. He had a higher pass completion percentage than Collaros - and was second only to Fajardo who thows for an average of 5 yards while Brown threw for average of 11 yards - again, highest in the CFL. Based on numbers alone the guy, who has been mentored here for 3 years, is an outstanding prospect. And when you actually watch him vs Collaros, Brown has better vision, better accuracy, better pocket presence and throwing velocity. It would be irresponsible to let a guy like that get away ...

It seems half the rhetoric coming out of Edmonton is focused on stomping out any whiff of communism and the other half is changing the name back to the Eskimos, just because.

Twitter (similar to Facebook) will promote and show content based on the users browsing history and search criteria and online behaviours. My experience with Twitter is actually really good it's probably the best social media application for showing quality content over non stop ads or brain dead (tik tok) content. I see nothing but links to pc parts deals , bbq & food posts , retro video games, and lots of funny cat videos. I barely if ever see anything political at all. I guess the best way to avoid fascists living in the parents basement is for you not to be a fascist living in a basement? The algorithm (ai?) are extremely smart so stop searching for that kind of crap and it will stop presenting it to you.

it's still THE place for up-to-the-second information. Was hoping Threads would take its place, but nobody is using that. Until Twitter stops being the spot to go for news, it's still valuable. I hate supporting Elon, but it is what it is. Gots to have my news!! The key to good Twitter is to curate it properly... only follow what you want to see. Unfortunately for me, I have to follow the CFL feeds, but right now they're all about the Als which is gut-wrenching. Come the new year, it'll be okay again.

My counter point to this is that we were a tremendous Brady Oliveira season away from a LOT more criticism being leveled on Collaros. They had to adjust massively to try and keep the pocket clean and when it wasn't he struggled mightily.

I'm going to make some excuses for the average play of Collaros in the Grey Cup. 1. We have been a very balanced offensive team...especially in the two years that we had Andrew Harris here. We were run heavy. We basically employ receivers that are run blockers first. 2. We know we can run and running in the playoffs is the way to go 3. 2022 Collaros was playing hurt 4. 2023 our entire receiving core minus Lawler and Woli were hurt It just goes to show you that it isn't the best team that wins the Grey Cup...it's the hottest/healthiest. Healthy Collaros and Schoen has been our bread and butter for passing stats the last two years. We haven't had that in both our losses. That said, has Collaros been stellar, even given the excuses? I'd say no. His underthrows in this last Grey Cup were brutal. But are we making a mountain out of a mole hill? I think so.

WELL...HE sat on a PR during the season for a grand total of 0 weeks....so his net gain was zip! And from looks of it he was up in Canada anyway doing nothing....so why he didn't venture back here is a bit baffling

To state the obvious, this is a results-based business, and it comes down to "what have you done for me lately"? The steadiness and ability to ad lib seems to have deserted Collaros of late. We have seen in Calgary the futility of keeping a QB past his good years- it is expensive, non-productive and blocks the development of other pivots. That day is coming for Collaros if it is not here already- it is just a question of time. Smart GMs know when to move a player before he becomes a liability.

Bighill was unplayable with his injury. I can understand bringing Schoen out there with a snap count and for specific situations, and he did well in those situations as a clutch second down converter. But the roster decision of Bighill over Rose or Haba/Fox, and then having him out there in the second half covering a slotback instead of having Cole or Clements do it was in my opinion the biggest blunder. Gauthier was noticeable in a very good way compared to a hobbled Bighill.
