  1. I recall Friesen being banned from the facilities by the team for some really negative pieces...

  2. I was once told by a very wise coach that when leaving an organization it's best to leave in a good frame of mind....Burning bridges do not do a thing except disconnect you from the great things that happened for you....Thinking back, there are a few players that have said things that they wish they never uttered....Deiter Brock was one that comes to mind when he 'slagged' Winnipeg with his comments...He said awhile ago that he regrets the comments but once said they're out there and hard to take back.....JJ is not in a good frame of mind and it's understandable...What really irks me is toads like Friezen who lap that kind of thing up and exploit the situation for cheap journalism...

  3. I'm not sure MOS has any real interest in going south (tho millions of dollars could change that ) but I thought it was neat to hear an NFL GM talk about how his name is mentioned down there...

  4. Houston replacement already here in either Holm or Parker .as well as some interesting guys coming to camp Kid from Hawaii prob get tons of reps and chance to pin down that RT position...and I can see if we re-up Gray he will be slotted there as well to compete...haven't looked at our signed guys for camp on online...know we brought Ivy back...tho don't recall what he looked like to be honest...but we carried him half the yr so musta been something we saw

  5. Yeah, pro sports are cut throat. They aren't the 1st and won't be the last. FUN FACT. On this day in 2015 the 1st piece of the puzzle was officially signed. #66 the GOAT of Goats became a Winnipeg Blue Bomber.

  6. Shame on you for assuming. Maybe they want to pay the wrong price.

  7. Generally the agent is gonna reach out by Xmas...or shortly after... especially if team hasn't contacted you...or mentioned any plans Also...pretty much across the board if you are hearing crickets it's an understanding that team is moving on...or you low on the initial priority list...again that's when an agent should be touching base. I see this as a spin by Friesen to stir up stuff...and as others mentioned I have seen first hand them at practice .. absolutely ignoring all that went on...then asking who looked good ..what went on...then write a piece for next day with "their thoughts"

  8. I thought Betts retired before the west final... otherwise surely he would have played in that game

  9. That's a deal with no money...and no guarantee he even gets to camp...could be set free when CFL season has started...and will be left gathering peanuts

  10. Yeah, you can imagine the leading questions Friesen had to get those quotes.

  11. That's exactly what will happen. Mike just choosing chaos lately. I'm here for it.

  12. Betts to the NFL is a big blow for BC and all those teams bidding on him. I also don't think he deserves an NFL shot. 1 trick pony.

  13. Tired of talking about Friesen, we shouldn't waste any time on that here 😛 So getting back to football ... A right tackle replacement and also to see how the next up for Houston is. Those are the two priorities right now. I trust in McManus and company to fill some holes nicely (they have a good track record so why couldn't they?)

  14. I'd like to see Castillo signed before Tuesday. Anybody else were are hoping to see in Blue and Gold?

  15. I think both sides were at a bit of a standstill as both had made their "final offers" and neither was willing to blink first in negotiations. Very different scenario. It wasn't a positive article, but I don't think Jeffcoat said anything unfair or that ruffles me the wrong way as a fan. Definitely no bridges burned on this side, imo.

  16. You're reading way too much into that. I said the right price - meaning whatever works for the team. While I would like to see a proven DT like Baron brought in, I doubt it happens as DT is clearly a spot Walters isn't willing to overpay for since we've let one walk year after year (Stove, Sayles & now Walker).

  17. I recall him and Weicek sitting at like 5 TCs in a row not watching a single thing before writing sensationalistic anti-Bomber drivel twice a week.

  18. I hope he doesn't do an Allen Pitts & absolutely refuse to be a Bomber alumni, to this day continually turn down local interview requests & when he was inducted into the Stamps Wall of Honour well over a decade ago never even stayed for the entire ceremony. As soon as he was inducted, he bolted out of the stadium into a waiting car & off to the airport he went. Sad that players feel so disrespected that they have reactions like that. Hopefully JJ comes to understand that we fans love him... Always will appreciate what he did as a player.

  19. Credit to @EdTait for digging this up and putting it in his latest 1st and 10: https://www.bluebombers.com/2024/02/09/first-10-free-agency-preview-2/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Cool sound bite from long-time NFL executive and former Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff about Blue Bombers coach Mike O’Shea during a visit with B.C. Lions play-by-play voice Bob Marjanovich at the Super Bowl this week in Las Vegas: ^^ Former Falcons GM believes there is at least SOME interest in Mike O'Shea among NFL GM's.... (as a DC or possibly more...)

  20. Anyone who's got the pride and drive to succeed at this level is gonna have serious feelings when the day comes to shut er down. His onfield contributions are what matters to me, not his exit interview. Thanks for being a great Bomber, Mr. Jeffcoat.

  21. Friesen is just so lazy. He's completely unprepared to push back on anything anyone says. He just writes it down. No wonder he had no idea Strev was coming back, as no one trusts him. He just mails it in.

  22. I think he viewed him self as Willy’s equal. But Willy plays a hell of a lot more football every year, and his pass knock downs impact offenses on a whole other level. Reality is a harsh thing. No bad blood for me, I’ve loved his play and defended him his whole career. Fact is, he under achieved his potential despite being a beast. Jj should be a hofer. He’s that damn good. Instead Jake Thomas might pass him in career sacks. JJ should stay calm and in shape. Might be a call from some one like lemon mid season. That’s the real disrespect. Friesen uses JJ as a soap box to write yet another crappy negative article.

  23. He’s too small, too slow in my opinion. He can beat guys with a yard off the ball out of the set off the line in the CFL. He is not doing that down south. I’ll eat crow if he makes even a PR. But I have zero worry about doing so.

  24. Eli is not a tackle prospect...he's a natural center but would also be a mauling guard if need be...him at center tho makes our interior strongest

  25. Yeah...I forgot we have Cole signed too...I'd like to see him at SAM....and with Biggie...I'd like to see him as the DA role Cole had...and also stick the Nationalized American tag on him...why Osh refuses to use that is baffling...as it hinders lineup flex...suck it up butter cup and use it...as it's not going away as much as he protests...which is basically what that is.

  26. I can't see Bighill playing past this season. Start grooming his replacement.

  27. I don’t think he has the speed or tackling ability to play that spot either, he will get rag dolled and trucked.

  29. Betts is too small and not powerful or fast enough to make it down south. If he wants to be a camp body then enjoy.

  30. It's funny all the hand wringing about cap space here. Look at BC and Ottawa. Total ******* mess.

  32. I’ve always liked Dimitroff and love that he pumps up the cfl… but I just don’t ever see this happening… O’Shea has zero experience in American football and has never been a DC at any level, never mind the highest level of football there is… I think it’s great that a CFL hall of fame player and future HoF coach is being talked about among nfl circles… but I think he’s here (cfl) for life.

  33. On going talks and then final offers..then some silence or non communication is standard fare...what else you supposed to do? That's standard fare until this new tampering window. As for JJ...not sure what the disrespect is...if his offer was lower than he wanted...and like to age and durability issues then really he has no reason to be other than disappointment...but disrespectful is kind of sour grapes...take best deal offered and prove true worth then....why quit I also think this isn't end of it either and he could be back...or be elsewhere...lots of time between now and TC's

  35. But doesn't that just show how self absorbed these guys are? Bombers gotta get like 70 bodies in camp, that takes more effort than hand holding players they're planning on moving on from.

  36. I mean trestman made the jump and I’d take mos over Marc if I’m rebuilding an nfl team. You can get guys around him as a co or hc that are more familiar with the nfl schemes, that culture and buy in is what’s hard to get.

  37. Nothing nut props and respect for JJ....As dominant an end as there was when he was playing, and always turned it up in play-offs. But we all reach that point where we no longer can play the game...or are wanted how we feel we should be...never know when it is, but we are all told.....That being said it gives a true opportunity for some new blood to step in and establish themselves, and may lead to a veteran signing too

  38. Exactly this. It's all well and good to be fans of the game, make posts and state opinions on a football forum. But most of us have never been out there putting our bodies on the line. In many games, he was our best defender. Heck, even fans of other teams said it. Congrats on a great career, JJ.

  39. I don't like Friesen but Jeffcoat says that article accurately captures the situation. Sucks to move on from Jeffcoat but it's time. That 2019 Grey Cup from him and Willie was one for the ages.

  40. I remember reading anti-Bomber Friesen articles in the Sun in the break room at Sobeys 20 years ago. Consistent hack.

  41. Stupid ass article from Friesen, what else is new. Love me some Jeffcoat, but is he really that startled at the thought that his team might have other priorities when he’s the one who openly expresses how much he’s been debating retirement?
