  7. If the bar is Justin Medlock some of you are destined to be disappointed in the kicking for a long long long time

  8. I just find it hilarious that the unwashed masses are eating it up and pretending that they actually had a good offseason. Just too blind to see what is really happening.

  9. Nothing to do with nobody else willing to give him 500k which is just insanity. He wanted to play there so bad in 2015 that when he had the chance in 2016 he chose not to.

  10. this fan base was so spoiled by Medlock. We will likely NEVER see that level of consistency again. It doesn't exist...south or north of the 49th....

  14. Allow me to rephrase. We've brought several good placekickers into the CFL over the past few decades. We have not brought in and kept a decent placekicker since 1989. I hope Leggs is not another kicker to add to the list who we brought into the league and excelled elsewhere.

  15. Since you guys asked and I'm bored ... I went through and looked at the statistics for every game. The amount of times O'Shea opted to punt instead of attempting a 45-49 yard field goal equals a grand total of zero These are the only ones times we punted from 45 yards in or closer all year. Week 1 - punted from OTT 45 Week 2 - punted from OTT 43 Week 3 - punted from HAM 45 WF - punted from BC 44 up 8 points with 2:02 left in the 4Q (that is to say, it would've been idiotic to kick a FG here) GC - punted from TOR 43 in the 1Q down 3-0

  17. When a coach chooses to punt instead of a 43 or 45 yard field goal attempt then that says something about the kicker. Not questioning the 50 yard plus field goals.

  18. He understands the high risk low reward situation of trying 50 yarders with regularity. Unless your name is Justin medlock. Also note that in 22 the average nfl kickers make rate from 50 was just 72%. I would bet it’s handily 15-20% worse in the cfl in the last two seasons. Then legs also hit from 55 last year and has 3 game winning 50s in his time here. A confederacy of dunces also generates a common consensus. Yep. And he understands the risk of td or big returns on fg kicks that long. Plus he has good reason to have faith in our defense holding teams that are pinned deep. The amount of safety’s forced by the D directly or by stopping a team pinned inside the 10 is tremendous during the mos era. Not to mention turn overs and defensive tds. personally I love the gamble to get a safety and the ball for our offense over trying a long fg. Plus the option for teams to punt to grant with him getting the ball around center field is tremendous. Unless the punt is shanked, or the other teams offense gets back to back first downs punting instead of trying a 50 yard field goal is generally a winning move. Especially here. the punts I don’t like are the mid field ones. Our 50 to their 35 after the return isn’t a good exchange but one most every ones goes for. Especially on 3rd and 6-7 or less. A mostly automatic pass for collaros.

  19. His leash also got longer last year spending a big chunk of the year at around 90% on fgs and doing a tremendous job punting and kicking off. He dropped off late, but gave a lot of hope that he can translate his college success and excel long term in all three jobs. I wonder if that global Hackett is in camp this year punting.

  23. https://3downnation.com/2023/02/20/new-montreal-receiver-greg-ellingson-cody-fajardo-jason-maas-caused-him-to-pick-alouettes-over-riders/ I read that as another kick to the onions to the Riders, and Ellingson's polite way of saying "dont like whats going on there, nor do I want to be there" Same with Moore saying he "wanted to see what it was like on the other side" That organization just blows...and lame duck coach/gm combo aint helping them

  27. I work from the question "Was the QB able to get off his normal throw in his normal rhythm?" If not, then he's under pressure. There's other adjustments and situations. But that's where it starts for me. One minor beef I've had with QB hits as a proxy for pressure is: if the QB didn't see the hit coming and it happens after he releases the ball, was he really under pressure? That said I wish I'd tracked QB hits all along the way. There'd be some interesting stories in there.

I've always thought that China could end the war whenever they wanted to, perhaps even India. If Russia lost one of those two markets, they would really feel the economic consequences. If Russia could be stopped through economic means, they wouldn't need billions in military support and lives would be saved.

  29. He’s showed improvement every other year. I expect it to be the same. Folks need to remember, regardless of anything he’s still one of the best punters in the country.

  30. You better start doing your research then because I want you to show me all these examples you are talking about. Tell you what, forget the conditions for now, show me all the times they passed up on field goals under 50 yards. Start there.

  31. win and lose as a team....and will be same this yr as well....if he is a direct result in losses...multiple losses....from extremely bad kicks...multiple in multiple games...he will be replaced...until then we will roll with him and let him develop likely into a top kicker who handles all duties

  32. FIFY. Also- I don't know of any current kicker that I would trust as much as Medlock, or near as much.

  33. How many times did he pass up chances for field goals of that length and what were the game circumstances when that happened?

  34. Or get a better kicker and take the 3pts. Funny how the strategy was different when we had a good field goal kicker.

  36. I guess 30% of the cardboard cutouts of fans were misplaced? Yes that's true on a normal team, but on a team that chooses to play without an OL a mobile QB can at least extend a few plays. Harris will be ground into dog meat by game 3.

  37. For a good part of last year it seemed Legghio was coddled. We punted a number of times when we could have gone for field goals. Not many fans have faith in him at this point. His kick at the end of the Grey Cup was low and left. Probably wouldn't have been blocked if he hit it properly. Think he should have a short leash this year.

  39. Again, like Colin, I ask you just who are these great kickers you both allude to? Give us some names. Don't say Paredes as that's already been covered. And we replaced Lirim Hajrullahu with Medlock which was a no brainer. American kicker Brent Maher??? Since 2014, when he was releasd by the Bombers he's been with 11 CFL & NFL teams. How can a team develop a vagabond kicker whose only interest is to chase the money like that??? Take away those 3 names in the last decade to 15 years, then who are you talking about?
