  1. Quite a balanced schedule at first glance. Ready for this team to go absolutely scorched earth across the league.

  2. I find it so absurd in a 9 team league we can’t play a home and away against every team. It still gives us the chance to play a third game against two rivals. Ridiculous.

  11. You are conflating extremist groups with acts of terror. Which is it? There are extremist groups on both sides, to be sure. what is being said here, correct me if I am wrong, is that there is far more examples of right wing terror acts than left wing terror acts.
    4 points
  12. I don't think you have fully read that study. It does mention the rise of the left wing terrorism as a direct result of right wing terrorism... I feel you are really trying to "both sides" this argument when in reality there is overwhelming amounts of examples of right wing extremism and RW domestic terror than the left wing brand of terror.

I don't think you read your own link. Just off the top, it assigns all anarchists to the far-left, which totally ignores the Boogaloo Boys. It suggests that Bill Barr designating certain cities as "anarchist jurisdictions" is a legitimate (and not political) action. But it does have some facts: "By certain metrics, such as human casualties and frequency of attacks, the violence committed by AVE actors in the past decade pales in comparison to other categories of violent extremists" But then: "Nevertheless, this dynamic is subject to change, 21 and ongoing trends in American society could lead to increased frequency and lethality of AVE attacks." Do I have to explain to you that this is mere speculation? It cites 7 incidents between 2015-2019 and again lumps anarchists in with the far left without support. One example is a couple that corresponded with far-right terrorist Dylan Roof. Another incident is possession of a machine gun, but no plan to use it is cited. A third incident mentions counter-protesting against a far-right group in Berkeley. And then you get this gem: "Trend 3: Polarization in the United States may escalate lethality and frequency of AVE-related terrorism". This is a both sides problem - not a far-left problem - and again - purely speculative. This paper is falling apart.... It keeps lumping anarchists and racially/ethnically motivated groups in with the far left.....aaargggghhhhh! Please vet what you post.

This is easy to say for people who aren't related to her. If it was my wife/daughter/mother etc etc I'd be pressing everyone to get them home by any means necessary. People may not like the trade, but at the end of the day it was the right thing to do.

I actually don't disagree. Both parties are a long way from the MLAs Doer, Selinger and even Filmon - had in the house People like Bjornson, Wight, Caldwell - I don't see that talent in the current legislature - with very few exceptions And the problem exists in all 3 parties

There are and have been plenty of people on the left, with unacceptable beliefs. And extremists attach themselves to pretty much every protest.

The Left has on occasion said dumb things, but nowhere near the frequency, intolerance or degree of extremism as the Right. Nor has the Left staged such actions as those in Ottawa, Windsor or Coutts, bringing abhorrent Nazi flags, made racist/sexist insults or brought firearms to protests with plans to kill police and public officials.

  29. I don't think it can even be properly argued. The far right is and has been more of a threat for a while. As has been posted, thats according to people far more qualified than I. The left certainly have some nuts, but they usually stick to absolutely horrible policy/law/regulations type of stuff. A lot less violence from the left compared to the Right. People often point to "Antifa" as a left wing terrorist group. But as far as I know, there has been zero evidence that they are actually a organization on the level of say...the proud boys (lol). You can type out a personal story all you want. 1 anecdotal situation proves absolutely nothing. Boomers are the majority of voters right now and have been for decades. Look at our society/our leaders. That's just one example. The world is in the position it's in (both good and bad) largely because of the boomer generation. As for your story...you're missing the point. Yeah millennials etc. have their far share of nut bags...but who raised those nut bags?

  30. This. It's almost as if shitty humans with ignorant/uninformed views raise shitty humans with ignorant/uninformed views, irrespective of generation. Fueling the already raging fires of division with the bullshit "your generation is worse than mine" narrative is not helpful. And if we're going to start up a debate about left vs. right extremism in this country and in the Canadian Politics thread, no less, links to information for another country should probably not be used. Here's more pertinent information: https://publications.gc.ca/collections/collection_2022/parl/xc76-1/XC76-1-1-441-6-eng.pdf

Why so defensive? I never blamed one side - I only stated that the far right is a much larger threat. But I guess it's just me and the FBI saying that. https://www.businessinsider.com/fbi-white-supremacists-pose-the-primary-threat-of-domestic-terror-2022-11 "Left-wing violence, by contrast, poses a smaller threat and is likely to consist of "nonlethal" criminal activity, according to the report, which states that far-left extremists, unlike their far-right opponents, are "not organized at the countrywide level.""

I think the right-wingers would love to see moderates/progressives stoop to their level of rhetoric. Under those conditions, anything that might be construed as inciting violence against the GOP extremists would justify an escalation of their calls for a violent response. One of the stated goals of the Jan 6th rioters was to provoke an armed response from police and/or the national guard causing injuries or deaths so that Trump could invoke martial law and portray the rioters as martyrs to the cause of "freedom". To the GOP extremists, that would be a "Reichstag moment".

  42. I do not understand the mixed feelings. Fatboi was one of our best and most consistent players along the line this past year. They signed him to a new contract...they didn't guarantee him every rep of every game. He'll come to camp and compete and if he earns it, he'll get his rotational reps again this year. There is absolutely nothing to be "mixed" about with this signing.
