  1. There is a rider fan claiming that Marino probably asked for a release as there are other leagues he can go to and was tired of being picked on in the CFL (I’m paraphrasing most of that). Like what in the actual F….

    Queen Elizabeth Has Died

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the monarchy this is a significant event. She was still our head of state for 70 years! The impact might not be immediate but her passing will likely change politics in many commonwealth countries. I be the monarchy is ditched in more than a few commonwealth countries going forward.

  5. Week 14 update: Bombers have clinched a crossover playoff spot. Would clinch 3rd in the West with a win over Saskatchewan this weekend. Any combination of Bomber wins and Calgary losses totalling 3 clinches a home playoff game for Winnipeg. No other club can mathematically clinch this weekend.

The idea of not protecting a child is scary as ****. I can't believe someone would trust their own made up "science" over actual science is abhorrent. The ignorance is astounding.

  8. Agree, no better way to shorten his playing career than to muscle him up until he pops. Mo Leggett was once in B.A.'s position, moved him to SAM and injuries took him out of the game within a few years. I hope they leave B.A. at Safety, his brain is his best asset, not his muscle.

  9. Article from Rob Vanstone proving its not just us who question this guys leadership: Roughriders head coach Craig Dickenson was clearly rankled by Williams’ latest indiscretion, noting that “he feels bad about it.” How many times have we heard that over the past two months? Dickenson on July 8: “Garrett feels bad about it.” Dickenson on Aug. 22, after revealing that linebacker Gary Johnson Jr. had received a team-issued suspension for an off-field incident: “He feels bad about what happened.” This is the year of “he feels bad about it.” Is it too late to print up T-shirts? Posters, anyone?

You may not have meant it as such, but your post reads that you imply that somehow the rest of Canada is responsible for the downturn the Alberta economy. The damage has been self-inflicted by generations of administrations that assumed that the gravy train would go on forever and spent like drunken sailors.

I can't explain the choices others make. I can only look at the science and know that I will do everything I can to protect my children, including getting them vaccines when they become available. To choose not to because others don't would not make me a responsible adult. Endangering my children because a bunch of anti-science mouth-breathers don't believe in vaccines would never cross my mind.

  18. BA will have a ripple effect throughout the lineup when defense is on field...will be the same impact it was when he moved there mid season in 2019 and we just took off defensively. Wish we had a bit of an idea of what Wilson's exact injury was to Achilles....I know he didn't have surgery, and seems to be moving around fine...was it even confirmed it was an achilles? But if Wilson was to follow BA back somewhere down the road, that would be so big for the defense...Like signing an NFL returnee....but better as he knows they system and his teamates inside out. Toss in an Ellingson on the other side of the ball, and it's even better.....and with Agudosi....the mystery and non-disclosure of things is frustrating...but if he was to get back on field late in yr too...damn we be looking good

  20. If BA is back at safety running the back end, then I feel that Bighill can get back to just worrying about his position and not trying to compensate for the deficiencies elsewhere, and that makes us stronger in two positions. Don’t move Alexander into a Linebacker spot.

Well you better reconsider who actually destroyed the benefits of that economy. Under Peter Lougheed Oil royalty % (as value of petroleum sales) was 33.1%. By 2012 it was down to 4.3% under Alison Redford. That is all pre-NDP government and all negotiated by the province. Alberta would have had 865 Billion in the Heritage Fund by 2012 if they hadn't knuckled under to the Petro Industry. http://changenowforgood.ca/albertas-new-premier-view-royalties/

But, did anyone (ANYONE?) say to cut Leggs? I don't remember that and I'm not digging back through. It just seemed that people wanted another, experienced, kicker to come in and take over FGs and extra points, which is what we did last year. The thought that there was some sort of consensus on this is confusing too.

    Covid-19

Anyone who trusts Covid stats from the Alberta government is a fool. We are still trying to figure out the effects of COVID, but long-COVID is a thing and we don't know if there will be effective treatments in our lifetime. New studies are showing that multiple COVID infections lead to increased mortality. Children are dying from COVID. They aren't all super-resilient. 527 kids aged 0-4 have died of COVID in the U.S. Given that repeated infections are more likely to cause severe outcomes, it's dangerous to think that kids will be as similarly "resilient" as you think they are. Vaccinations have saved many, many lives up til now and the bivalent version against Omicron shows great promise. Kids get vaccinations against all kinds of abhorrent illnesses and diseases. The vaccines themselves are not abhorrent. Masks don't restrict your airflow in any meaningful way.

  35. I agree, and if you must move him in game or something due to injury it has to be to SAM and definitely not WIL Lber. We are a much better team when Couture, BA, Wilson, and Ellingson return. That is 4 all star caliber starters, how could we not. Some teams don't even have that many all star caliber players on their entire roster, we've been playing most of the year without 4 of ours. It's easy to lose track of that because of the talent we have without them, but on a lesser team losing 4 guys like that would put them in a precarious situation. Some teams are looking at us as vulnerable this season without even taking into account we have not been healthy at any point this year. If we can get almost all our starters back in down the stretch people are going to be in for quite a rude awakening.

which is entirely the wrong attitude. Anyone with half a brain would look at that and go "wow, this is a really strong virus to get through all those layers of protection, and imagine how much sicker I could have been WITHOUT those layers of protection??"

  38. I don't think BA has the physical strength to play WIL on running downs. You gotta be able to get off your blocks and take on some big backs at that position. Not saying he couldn't do it effectively, but not the best fit for him when he can be our all star elsewhere. Rutledge reminds me a lot of Moncrief in his rookie season.

    Covid-19

In my mind, the bolded part is the big issue with society in general... rather than saying that we will all look out for each other, it's every man for themselves. If everyone would take a step back and say, I'm going to do this to help others (and I'm not just talking about masks here), then people could and would be happier and the world would be a better place. The selfish attitude of "I'm only going to look out for myself because nobody else will" is why there's so much hate out there.

    Covid-19

You wearing a mask protects you from the people who are sick (with anything ie. cold, flu, covid, etc.), or protects others if you happen to be sick. It's common in other parts of the world for people who are or have been sick to wear a mask as a courtesy to others and I think it would be nice if people here did the same. Nothing political or anything about that, just courtesy for others. Is a mask 100% effective, no, but neither are condoms or birth control yet people continue to use them. To the comment that someone made about it restricting air flow... sure, a little, but if you have a proper fitting mask with some structure to it so that it doesn't get sucked into your mouth when you breath, it's not a problem to wear for the better part of a day. I've done workouts and played sports with a mask on with little to no effect on my performance, so the air flow couldn't have been restricted all that much.
