  1. I don't know what did or didn't happen, but I hate the speculation around a guy who is directly responsible for our first GC in nearly 30 years.... He deserves better than a bunch of bullshit being spouted around here. This isn't just some random player from the states. This is a local legend who gave everything for our entertainment.

  2. By reports you mean the 2 sentences by Farhan lionguy the bomber hater who was driving the same alleged wedge with collaros and the Bombers. The same guy guaranteeing the xfl merger last year with the loss of all Canadian rules etc. The same guy who repeatedly accuses us of cheating any time we sign any one. Even despite all that his allegations don't sound like the mafia at all. And if he had such a good connection with the bomber brass or some one behind them then he'd a had a lot more breaking bomber news. Like the trade dead line or player signings. The leaks he delivers comes from agents an hour or 2 before it's ratified with the league. “Coming out of the lost COVID season. Harris was admittedly distracted and his preparation wasn’t necessarily as all in as it needed to be,” Lalji alleged. “That led to some frustration in the building and there’s a belief that it also may have contributed to his injuries that forced him to miss a large portion of last season.” I wouldn't take this guys word on any thing other than what the Lions owner or xfl managers had for breakfast. Jake Thomas laughs nervously. Jake Thomas laughs nervously.

  3. Yeah these "reports" need to be taken with grain of salt..and unless I hear something from within...or a management/coach type says anything in media...or alludes to it I tend to disregard it....Harris when on field never takes it took a play off...ever..and players followed his example and fed off his fire. My take...and what I expecting is Harris is back on a crazy deal...Oliviera is also back on a par for the course second contract for a spot starter and stove is back too...he gets a bump but people thinking he gets this crazy bump are...well crazy...his next deal if he does what he does will be crazy To do this I see odd man out being Darby and Taylor...and quite possibly Adams if he not happy with a bargain deal...fly in ointment is Lawler...not sure what's up there...but if he walks...expect Adams and aDarby back...Also Mike Jones is a given..

  4. It isn't crude to use it, it is flat out wrong. It applies when you have signed on. You don't get it. He earned every ******* cent he got from us and more. I don't regret one ******* penny, no it wasn't an "overpay". It goes way beyond stats and he earned it even just off stats. That guy (literally) carried the flag for our team and our city and put that pride in the locker room. He is an all time clutch performer who only gets better in big moments. He is/was the face of the team and a true leader off and on the field. If he leaves it is a gigantic hole. One of the greatest Manitoban athletes of all time.

I just want the enforcement to be there when laws are clearly being violated. That would be a good start. I want the same standards applied to other actions to be applied to this one. Part of my job is to organize rallies and other public events up to and including strike pucket lines. There's specific laws around legal struke action, but rallies are different. For rallies, we always have permits when needed and ensure traffic (both vehicle and pedestrian) is never impacted as the law requires . We are also respectful of those affected as it is easy to turn people off, and a fine line between being seen and heard, and turning people off from your message. Organizers are also responsible for the actions of each and every person participating. When organizing, we coordinate with police to ensure any issues come to the organizers, and frequently meet when needed for example when a strike happens. I think these organizers totally messed this one up, and lost control of the participants and the messaging. they should be ultimately responsible the same way I would be ultimately be held responsible should that happen at any other event, or anyone else organizing something similar.

Stuff like this is really important if we want to try to avoid going down the hole that the US has been going down. There needs to be people with spines in the Conservative party. The same with when Eileen Clark quit her role in the Pallister government when they were defending residential schools. I was hopeful that O'Toole would condemn the convoy and that would be the Conservative party line, but they've gone in totally the opposite direction with the Candice "Maga" Bergen who can't even denounce nazism without bringing up indigenous protests and the toppling of the statue... Manitoba Premier's response to Candace Bergen questioned (citynews.ca) He also said the Conservative party has taken an “increasingly divisive and vitriolic” approach and he will continue to speak against extremism in the party. “We need to shift away from that,” he said. --------------- Former federal Conservative cabinet minister Chris Alexander called the Conservatives’ stand “both disgraceful and inexcusable.” “I’m ashamed to see Conservative Party of Canada members, including elected MPs, portraying vaccine mandates as ‘tyranny’ and Trudeau as the ‘biggest threat to freedom in Canada’ while Russia prepares to launch a massive war on Ukraine,” he said.

  11. Lawler is taller..Baikey is bigger....2 different types of guys...I wouldn't want Bailey to assume the Lawler role..Bailey gonna Excell in the younger version of Nick Lewis...big plays...tough yard plays...solid and reliable...that's what I want and see from him Blake Jackson too may be the dark horse...dude has all the tools..runs a 4.4 and the best thing was a college QB and that's invaluable with the 2 qb rostering thing...from what I heard he was a lock to make the roster if not hurt Agadusi as the Z intruiges me and who wouldn't want that big dude downfield looking for lobs and 50/50 balls? Get Woli in the slot or just closer to the ball...we still have good cheaper options in FA when added to Demski..Woli and Bailey that would serve us well...and I wouldn't write off Adams either ..longer in tooth now but he still brings it and needs attention from defenses...but also brings that grit that made or receiver core what it was. Heck...convert Harris into Nik Lewis lite...I bet that option to get a pass..shovel pass...drop into backfield with JA or BO would give defenses fits

I think it likely that chaos and destruction were an integral part of the aim of at least some of the "organizers". Being able to bring the city to a halt, alarm the politicians and do whatever the hell the wanted while the authorities stood by would give them a sense of power and legitimacy they lack in their own emotionally impoverished lives. For once, they would feel noticed and in control.

  15. Andrew Harris has all my respect. But I think he's a prime candidate for salary that can be saved with minimal drop off in play (Oliveira and Augie can do the job). I'd be much more upset if we decided to keep Harris and let Oliveira walk.

  20. I find it interesting / odd that the Conservatives have forgotten what should have been their biggest lesson from the Harper years. You need to be pragmatic if you are a Conservative and want to govern Canada. The guy governed for close to 10 years by suppressing the more radical, members of his party. He was ( I think ) a born again Christian who wouldn't allow his members to table an abortion discussion. He was elected in Alberta yet kept the PAL requirement for gun use and ownership. He recognized the importance of officially naming 1st Nations as a separate nation within the nation. He may have been despised by the left but he knew how to pull the central vote his way. He knew what he could get away with and what he couldn't and forced his party to comply. I had hoped O Toole would have this ability but he wasn't even close. What the PCs are embracing now will keep them out of power. At least I hope it does.

  21. Micah Johnson isn’t a huge loss, but Purifoy leaving creates a void. They’re going to be a very young team next year, they’ve got some pieces here and there but they’ve having trouble retaining guys and you don’t hear them in on a lot of players either. One of two things is happening. Either the machine in Regina is doing a very good job of making sure their plans don’t leak to the media or the Riders aren’t a desirable team to play for anymore. Money still talks but they used to be able to sell players on the atmosphere, the fans, the building, the program and it looks like a lot of that goodwill is gone.

Here’s what I just read on someone’s feed. ‘We are fighting for our freedom because we are being forced out of society because we won’t get the jab’. Global pandemic that has killed millions, decimated livelihoods and severely strained healthcare system means that to you? Hmmmm. Another meaning that comes to mind is maybe self entitled prick who just can’t think outside their little bubble world? Right, sorry be nice love everyone regardless of taking the jab or not. Another post I read that made me gag.

  27. There aren't many out there now that I'd want in Wpg. Of Weineke is out.... Man I dunno. Walker doesn't really seem to fit the culture. I'd honestly rather break the bank for Lawler than bring in someone shitty. But.... If they think Sheed can step up, and one of the newer receivers can step up..... Maybe we can get buy without a "name" as the #1??

  28. You would be surprised come negotiation..2 sub par yrs ..he literally loafed and quit....he needs to re-establish his worth...and he knows it..I bet he can be had for a 185k salary with incentive easily..especially here...he should slot no more than Beg's and Burnham...2017/18 production is 5 yrs in rear view

Except in the end, when it looked bad for him, he campaigned on muslim fear mongering, that he hoped would get him votes for instance in rural quebec. and he was an absolute extremist as far as science, and concern for the planet was concerned. never forget how he shutndown the experimental lakes funding. funny thing.... they just established that fish populations can recover from mercury pollution in as little as ten years. good news for polluters maybe. at least he left health care alone.

  35. It was injury related. They hoped he would be healthy to come back at some point but didn't seem to happen. Not at all. 0 chance that if some thing like that happened that it'd get out of the room. But also no way Harris came in out of shape and sassy.

  39. Every year a team spends money foolishly on FA. Most years it doesn’t work out the way they wanted to. Over spending on vets isn’t the way to go. Getting a veteran free agent to get a team over the top is great but drafting well by adding quality Canadian talent, and relying on your scouting team to bring in young hungry talented players down south is the way to win in this league. Calgary replaced guys for years that signed big ticket deals in the off season, for the last few seasons it’s been our turn but as long as we draft well and scout well down south no one will dethrone us quite yet.

  41. I’ve always questioned using terms like far left and far right to describe extremists. I think without even knowing it what we do when we use these terms to describe a small percentage of people is we give them way more legitimacy than they deserve. Group them all together and just call them wingnuts, extremists, nut jobs whatever. Most of us share an eclectic array of political, social ideologies depending on the issue being discussed at so it’s hard to pin most of us down specifically where we land on that political spectrum. We do tho show a bit on where we may lean overall if you had to generalize.

As we discuss this protest, I hope everyone is thinking about what line these protesters are crossing. I bet that line is different for everyone. What have line have they crossed between respectful protest (whatever that means) to unacceptable?

  43. Last year he was still recovering from a torn ACL, he did participate in TC but he was not 100% recovered yet so they had no choice but to release him. If he's still living in the neighbourhood I wouldn't be surprised to see him invited to camp again if he is healthy and still pursuing football.

  44. FIFO has nothing to do with getting paid. It has nothing to do with believing you are worth an amount. Anyone who would say that has no idea what it means. If anyone on this board thinks FIFO applies to Harris that is trash, and quite frankly, infuriating. Harris never had to come here, he certainly never had to re-sign here, and he should not be thrown aside disrespectfully. That guy gave everything he had and did everything he could to win. Some people on this board are lacking the appropriate level of respect for an all time great Bomber and CFLer.

  45. B.C's spending and cap allocation is bizarre.they havnt really addressed any of their concerns, yet, and if anything are weaker with the loss of Mike R and possibly giving almot 700k to receivers.. QB pool is getting thin now and if Rourke struggles or gets hurt behind that still weak O-line...then what?....and if they are targeting Richardson (and I sure he can be tied to all teams as I sure all have contacted his agent) thats gonna cost them and still isn't gonna save that defense alone. I think Stove may take the money if we cant come "close".....That being said Walker and Rose showed ok in limited play..Sayles will only get better and he is just fine vs the run as yr went on, and the dude can get the pressure on a QB, and there are 1 yr stop gaps we could land..vets with skills still that we wouldnt niss a beat, and likely will command less than last yr...I looking at you Nevis and Johnson....Heck maybe we go after Laurent, he might wanna win a Cup lol....BA is shelved for half a yr likely so his $$ wont be on the books...Rotate him and Fatboi as the Canadian starter and still go import at safety...lots of options for us to not skip a beat, offence too with Lawler
