talent being equal... completely disagree... you can be "hugs" off the field and be a "thug" on the field... two perfect examples: Adam Bighill and Mattias Goossen...

  5. I believe the cap was brought in as a preemptive defense in the upcoming CBA negotiations so players can’t point to some of the excess being spent by some teams and wanting a bigger piece of the pie. That and to allow the weaker financial teams to remain competitive and not spend beyond their means.

I'm not sure why people keep engaging northernskunk like he's a good faith poster. He won't admit he's wrong even when confronted with direct tweets from the Bombers themselves. He's a bad faith participant and his opinions should hold zero value.

That jacket doesn't cut it for me as a Star Wars nerd... now if it were a replica of Han's jacket instead of some random film crew, that would be a different story! 😀

No, because those sorts of things do not need to be known by the general public. The sense of entitlement is strong in this one.

  19. Didn't we have approx 200 punts returned for touchdowns against us when Jon Ryan was punting? Seemed like it anyways. Out kicking your coverage was a real thing when he was here. Anyways, I'll fight anybody who says Bob Cameron wasn't our best punter.

  21. Reliability as we knew he was going to get the job done (best punter ever into the wind, no small feat in Canadian weather), longevity as we didn't have to worry about filling the punters position for many years, great teammate, good community member . . .

  23. He was a great punter & that was his job as well as holding for converts & placekicking. His punting made him stand out. Not throwing the ball. He never actually suited up & played qb but he'd throw the odd pass out of punt formation or from a botched snap on a field goal. I think he was our best punter ever but I don't know what you mean as integral. As in other ways

  25. It sounds like NBC was holding off on the AAF because they were more interested in the XFL. When you look at the team locations on a map the XFL is more interesting to national networks. The AAF only seems to capture the southern portion of the map. They seem to be targeting more markets that might have a local fanbase who would actually go to a game where the XFL is moreso targetting a wide television audience.

Murphy has shown to be a strong personnel guy... as long as he has someone credible to reign him in... he was most successful under Huff, because Huff would keep him in his place...

Won't work with the locker room our management is trying to build. Murphy loves thugs and arseholes.

  36. Holy geez, how much were they spending?! They've already cleared a bunch of salary.

  37. Yeah, those 2 were the best. Imagine trying to throw deep on the Bombers? Shut down corners on both sides. Wow. I can say that David Shaw & Roy Bennett were damned fine corners as well. As was Vince Phason going back to the late 70's.

I would say the thing that would hurt him the most would be everyone finding out he's nowhere near as rich as he pretends to be and he's in debt up to his eyeballs with shady russians.

  40. I think that not giving the HC the ability to pick his staff is a huge red flag that had nothing to do about being right, or the smartest guy in the room. It may have more to do with having the freedom to do what you feel is right without having upper management second guessing. You are either in charge or you are not, and if they won't let you be in charge of hiring your own staff, what else are they going to decide for you?
    1 point
  41. Unless someone were to hire Lapolice, in which case he automatically was too good for Winnipeg and we were fools to let him get away.

  42. now that the Stamps have released Mathews to pursue NFL interest, Walters should be in his ear letting it be known that if it doesn't pan out...he has a pail of cash waiting for him and the opportunity to be "the guy" in the offence....he more than showed he still has it, and would be a huge difference maker

  43. I want to know more if there is a story here for sure. I don't like things getting ignored or swept under rug at all. I'd just like to see mainstream media pick it up and see if its a story. I'm not going either way on this, just not sure this is credible.

  44. IMO, this would be a huge loss for the CFL... there are not many potential up-and-coming super star coaches in the league right now... hopefully he sticks around our league...
