  1. Just came across this forum and signed up to join in on the conversation on the roster. Was reading some of the stuff people commented about on the PR shrinking and ADS and Agudosi getting picked up elsewhere and it made me look back to the post-COVID classes of American players the Bomber FO has brought in: 2023 Class Damian Jackson, FB/LS - 31 Celestin Haba, DE - 24 Tyjuan Garbutt, DE - 24 Tyrique McGhee, DB - 25 Ravi Alston, WR - 24 2022 Class Dalton Schoen, WR - 26 Evan Holm, DB - 25 Jamal Parker, DB - 25 2021 Class Deatrick Nichols, DB - 29 Ricky Walker, DT - 27 Demerio Houston, DB - 27 Dru Brown, QB - 26 Drew Richmond, OT - 27 (Also Dee Alford and Casey Sayles) Recent signings from other teams: Miles Fox, DT (2023 from BCL) - 26 Desmond Lawrence, DB (2022 from HAM) - 28 Brian Cole, LB (2022 from EDM) - 26 Malik Clements, LB (2022 from EDM) - 27 Feels like a pretty even distribution of younger players being added to the roster throughout the years. I wouldn't say we are running rookies out of town like others. In '22 we didn't keep any of the PR guys we brought in but this year we kept Ravi Alston instead of Agudosi, which makes me think he beat Carlton out or they didn't expect him back next year. Difference this year is the young guys aren't getting as much opportunity to play other than Celestin Haba (looking promising!) and Damian Jackson (groan). But Tyrique McGhee likely being brought along to compete for starting DB spot next season and two rookie DEs are hopefully developing behind Jeffcoat and Jefferson.

  2. FWIW, Daramy-Swaray was a 27 year old in 2023 class Agudosi was a 29 year old from 2021 class Other Americans cut when PR shrunk were Deng (25 year old LB/DE from NFL), Martin (24 year old WR from NFL who Alston beat out) and Blackmon (25 year old previously cut by MTL) Would hope they bring back Deng, Martin and Blackmon next training camp to get a better look!

  3. Good thing we have to roster 17 linebackers and couldn’t find a way to get ADS on. The Agudosi one kind of bugs me too. I know we’re stacked there but you have to find a way to use a 6”6 WR.

  4. Bc were head hunting, schoen taken a beating, giving him a break ain't the worst when Brady was the man.

  5. as noted...the lower bowl is more than enough. The Riders though... yikes. They just announced the prices for next year are going up 20% + 6% tax from the provincial government. People are irate over there... tire fire franchise and they're being asked to pay more to watch that. Good luck

  6. I wasn't behind the bench -- I was in the last row of the lower bowl behind the Lions bench, and when the giant wall of blue rose up on our 3rd down stop I realized my mistake. Next year will be in the Blue section! BC Place has been an awful place to watch Bomber games for me. In the 2016 WSF and the 2017 regular season game the Bombers were anti-clutch, blowing 10+ point leads in the fourth quarter both times. hell, in 2013 we blew a lead to lose in BC Place, which is remarkable because I don't know how often in 2013 we actually led a game. In fact, I've seen eight bomber games live since I moved to the West Coast. They were 0-7 in those games before Friday. That win was even extra sweet for me because I've been waiting 20 years to see a Blue victory live. Needless to say, that Rhymes reception gave me a trauma response and Parker is now my favorite Bomber. He was channeling the spirit of Joe Lobendahn there!

  7. Agudosi had a chance when Lawler was hurt, he didn't do enough with it. As for swarthy, we'll Parker is healthy, Houston is ahead of him too, Lawrence is still around, depth at db.

  8. With agudosi i think it's a combo of the size and that first game. People get excited for that kind of thing. Reality is he needed to do more when he got his chance

  9. Bolo is Cdn too..we are just deep at receiver.

  10. hell yeah -- this is one of my top ten bomber plays of all time. gotta mix in the Milt Miracle, some plays from the 2019 and 2021 playoffs, the 1984 Mikawos Grey Cup killshot TD, the Michael Gray interception in 88, Deon Beasley ending Casey Printers' career in 2010, and now the Parker Pursuit from last week. might be a fun offseason project to pull all those together into a youtube.

  11. You don't mean this do you? I just rememebr him as the guy who broke the Manny show.

  12. more a Taylor and Maston vibe....Parker should have been in a long time ago.....

  13. Dunno, if it's accurate or not, but Parker in as a regular starter feels a bit like when Alexander took over at Safety in '19..... just feels like a different vibe in the secondary right now. Hoping it translates in the same way through the end of November....

  14. I also want to add that I was super impressed with Parker’s speed on that play but no one has mentioned that holm was hardly a step behind him and he was coming off the ground! I thought that was just as awesome. I don’t think he’d have been in position to make a tackle before the end zone but it does say quite a bit about his speed.

  15. I don't have an issue with the Bombers being very cautious with Schoen, even if it was a showdown for first. Schoen's, and any of our star player's health for the playoffs is far more important than where we finish in the standings imo. I do agree with the logic of keeping him in as a decoy but at the same time we have a fully healthy BOLO that is fully capable of playing in our offence and is at full health too so I can definitely see getting him out there instead of a banged up guy too. If we had chopped liver sitting behind Schoen on the bench then maybe he stays in, BOLO is able to run the same routes, spread the defence, and can engage fully physically. Maybe the Bombers were being over protective of Schoen, but at the same time I'm kinda Ok with that at this point of the season. Would HATE to lose any of our difference makers now.

  16. The reality is that he wasn't a Navy Seal so therefore he is of no use for us!

  17. I thought the same about Terrence Frederick! He had that great stop on a 3rd and 2 fake punt by Sask to seal the banjo bowl

  18. From my viewpoint, just a few rows ahead of you I suspect, it seemed like he was quite eager to get back in the game if the coaches and trainers had allowed him. He stood on the sideline, looking ready to play the entire time. I didn't spot him on the trainer's table (which was right in front of my seats). I only realized he was out of the game when I noticed that BOLO was in. The atmosphere at that game was truly amazing! It felt incredibly special to be surrounded by a sea of Blue. It was also the most nerve-wracking and thrilling game I've experienced in the 5+ years I've been attending Bomber games at BC Place as an expat.

  21. I just want Hamilton to knock BC off this week. I have a conflict with the Watchmen concert next weekend and I would rather not be anxiously checking my phone the whole time.

  22. I thought he swished on that one but on further review the ball popped up a bit so he probably made contact. If he'd gone for the tackle initially I think he would have stopped him beyond White's FG range, but there is the possibility Rhymes carries him another 10-15 yards.

  23. Went out to the garage for some devils lettuce last night, came back in to the 4th quarter of the game on tsn....I was still on the edge of my seat........for some reason.

  24. Call it the "Holm effect" he's teaching the boys how to knock down the ball with the swish of a well timed hand, no harm, no foul, and no dirty laundry.

  25. That's why it's frustrating to see them refuse to put in some help at defensive tackle. Even if they put a useful end they could play Willie or Jeffcoat inside time to time, which has been successful in the past. Just handicapping things by forcing the depth to be old man thomas and the invisible man Bennett.

  26. Love seeing Cole in on D. That guy is lightning

  27. Bighill and BA look to "seem" to be not same guys....but it's due to role being used in....and from what many here have seen as a weak area...yet to be adressed fully....Biggie sure may be a bit slower, but if playing a normal MLB role....scraping to ball...watching the QB and reading the play...would be extremely productive....right now he has to ne nore concerned with gap control and helping with inside pressure...so no doubt a lot of times he seems like he a second to late...in chase....or losing the tackle on a failed arm tackle....he isnt in a position to attack....more react....pretty simple really Intersting tho in last game I noticed how Cole was used, and brought in specifically to not necessarily spy The Vaj but watch him...

  28. Disagree with others on here - Agudosi was never starting with us having Lawler in the lineup. Also, besides his one stellar game with 2 TDs last year, what has he done lately? O'Leary Orange blocks better too.

  29. No I’m agreeing with, he’s an athlete they can play threw anything, I’m just saying they’ll say I’m good no matter what.

  30. Dumping Swarmay won't help...prob our 3rd or 4th best db we had...Houston and Holm lack the physicality...and hard tackling...Parker will help...and if we had an interior presence on Dline BA could be back to being that guy again like you see with some other teams...but he gets yo-yo'd all over the field due to roster deficiency.....now flame away usual suspects If that's how you want to interpret it...but he could have played

  31. They yanked Schoen...he wanted to play....why even if not just to be a decoy...said if it was a playoff game...or do or die he would have stayed in...and it kinda was so an odd decision to pull....from horse's mouth btw...not my "opinion' before some of u usual suspects chime in that it's a shot at coaching

  32. I suspect many of you remember the Toronto Blue Jays of 1992. Loaded with talent, a veteran squad, and a very inconsistent regular season. But, when October rolled around, they DELIVERED.

  35. Elks closing the upper bowl for 24'......sign of the times for the CFL I guess.....seems like we're shrinking....Thought the leos would fill their digs this year...I think it happened once....We seem to be alright but if the riders don't clean up their mess, I could see a drop there....Interesting times.................

  36. well Taylor Loffler WAS a really good Safety... he was just injury prone.

  37. Agudosi also triggered my positive memories of Grey Carr -- a big gangly receiver who can turn 50/50 balls into 75/25 balls and who has a real smooth ten-yard stride...

  38. Interesting in OT they went with 3 D-linemen and Cole on all 3 downs.

  39. Yeah missing a nose hurt the defense in a lot of ways especially on first down. I loved the 3-3 look. I’d be happy if we did that instead of rostering extra dl and just rotated Hansen and Lawson a lot more. Much less Thomas, and much more 3 de set. That letting us get the young lbers in more is great. Even getting the ni backers in for Thomas is a win. A rotating dl of the Jeff’s walker, Hansen, Lawson and a bit of Thomas out of a 30 front would be about the best to hope for at this point. That with a mix of biggie kyrie Cole Clements and Briggs would allow us to keep guys healthy and even blitz effectively. Clements has shown a real good knack for getting pressure off the edge. Imagine if we started showing biggie and dropping him frequently instead of sending him into a guard, then sending one of the twitchy fast imp lbers off the edge? That’s enough of give any cfl qb nightmares. Holm makes great plays and questionable plays, but you never question his motor. Which is not some thing you find in a cover db very often.

  40. I 100% agree with sitting Schoen if they felt it warranted. The man fights through all injury, but let's not lose him at this point of the year, please.

  41. Yes, but their recommendation is almost always to go to Urgent Care or Emergency.

  42. Agudosi does not have the play strength to play on special teams. He's tall and super long but is super wiry thin. I don't think he would have added anything on ST
    1 point
  43. Bighill always seems to be at the LOS, there isn't much 2nd level and the interior of the DL isn't as strong as years past. Think it makes the dbs have to chase more rather than come downhill.

  44. Guys aren’t identified and kept for pure talent reasons. From the marine to Schmekel to machino and soo many others. I think you too quickly forget how much we’ve sucked at lber in the mafia era. Two years of biggie, one year of jsk and maybe a seasons worth of games from kyrie over 2 ish years. Yet we’ve barley kept imp lbers around. Pretty much all of last year we didn’t have one on the pr despite kyrie being hurt most of last year. Look at how many ex bombers are in the league, even just at ol. Then look at how much we’ve struggled in pass pro this year. It’s not that the talent isn’t good enough. It’s almost never a pure talent problem in football. Edm ham ott ssk all have sufficient talent. Poor use of talent is the problem. Guys don’t adapt to the cfl instantly, and guys also don’t get that adaptation done by sitting on a pr getting a handful of reps a week in mostly un padded soft ass practices. You need to give guys a few regular season starts before they have had a real shot. We haven’t done that. Especially at dl, ol, and lber. The point is we haven’t identified and developed guys at those positions. This year we’ve struggled at db where we used to do it very well too. We have positions of need now. And we’ve cut more talent at those positions than any thing. Few have gotten a chance. Bennett has gotten far more of a chance than the blue chip guys we’ve brought in this year.

  46. Age & upside. I think they feel O'Leary-Orange may be ready to step up & is much younger than Agudosi. Also, we need to develop more impact Canadian receivers.

Clear or sparkling: Clear Apples or oranges: Apples Favourite action movie: To pick only one, The Terminator (original) Favourite smell: Campfire Least favourite smell: Cooked rhubarb One song to listen to: Tecumseh Valley – Townes van Zandt. I chose this because it’s the one song I never get tired of playing on guitar.

  48. Interesting, I noticed looking at the remaining schedule that the Lions actually play both of their final two games before the Bombers step on the field again... by time they line up against Edm on Oct 21, they'll know if it's a must win (not actually bc they can still beat Calgary in game 18... but I'm sure the team would like to lock it up before that)
