  1. At least Lapo can say they are losing close.

Honestly, can't we enjoy watching good players? Do we want the games to be crappy?

  3. The fact that it is sudden and surprising leads me to believe there is more there than just performance.

  4. Just a typical LaPo game. Seen it a million times.

I really like the play by play on the BC - R/B game tonight. Dunnigan is a great color man. Marshall Ferguson ain't bad either.

  6. Ottawa needs 6 more field goals to win this one. Will they have time?

  7. Masoli needs a new center. These plays are done before they begin

  8. yup....maybe this is the defensive turning point for this yr like BA a few yrs ago...Moving Houston into a spot with Rose....Nichols is best there is...Taylor is solid as there is is and I think we moving to seeing a Ford and Rene 6th db theme and in game injury replacement, especially if they are going the route with Mcrae on roster, or another import receiver for depth....and that to me makes great sense, and more than fne with the 2 canadian cutting their teeth with live reps.....Also if Leggs keeps gaining confidence and getting better and better his dual role as a Canadian opens up and allows us to not waste a DI on a kicker....I am more than sure Mourtada will sit and be happy on the PR all yr in case of emergency

  9. Think you nailed it. Rose back to full health Houston handily outplayed glass glass probably refused pr spot. And refusing a pr spot is kinda anti fifo.
    3 points
  10. He's making games entertaining and that's all I want. I'll enjoy it while it lasts
    3 points
  11. First thing that came to mind was some kind of FIFO thing. But maybe it is a combination of - Rose/Alexander coming back - Houston showing he is more than capable of playing field side corner - Glass not wanting to be on the PR

  12. i can tell you from having a son who played qb at SFU that went thru just that a lot of coaches blame the qbs for losses & nobody else. They think that changing qbs will somehow inspire the troops to new highs. Usually it doesn't & creates nothing but factions on a team. Jones is that kind of coach.

  18. Given his track record why worry at all about whether or not Kyle walters can find a DB?
    2 points
  19. Holm, Parker, Rene maybe?
    2 points
  20. Holm might factor into the decision as well. O'Shea mentioned wanting to give the young guys a chance. Glass makes too much and they like the young guys better
    2 points
  21. Houston looked good last game. Rose is a dang fine DB. Makes sense to play both over Glass who as others have suggested may have balked at a PR spot. On Houston, this staff really does find and train up DBs (Leggett, Alexander, Sayles, Alford, Nichols, Loffler are all DBs who started here and were all-stars here). I do wonder about depth but I trust this staff. Wonder if they feel like Rene or Ford could step in if needed?
    2 points
  22. Sounds like maybe it was performance related after all.... I'm surprised they'd outright cut him but as suggested maybe he refused a PR spot...
    2 points
  23. Oh wow the coaches are loving Houston. Giving Rose the field side. Maybe at least until he recovers a bit

    Week 4 Non champ games

The young man has been playing great. His post game interview was impressive, acknowledging that he threw two int’s and wasn't at all rattled by it - “it was bound to happen”. That was an outstanding athletic run of over 50 yards for the TD! that was not fluke. Any 50 yard TD run is going to be on a highlight reel. If he shits the bed later on, oh well. Yet for now, he’s making things interesting in a league that could use interesting things. at the beginning of the season, there was a question, “what needs to be done to make the games better?” We watched one answer last night.

  25. LMAO….I double dog dare ya to write TSN AND Dunnigan an email explaining that you think he should work harder, not be lazy, and tell him exactly what you expect. Do it man. Lol

I'd forgotten about Bowness and I guess he'd said he was leaning toward retirement, but IMO this was the best option still available....

  28. this also...with talk Mcrae may be on roster leads me to believe Rene is healed up and on roster...he's gonna be a gooder and versatile too

  29. Glass likely refused a PR spot. Someone on that side of the field stunk for the first 10 quarters of the season. Looked like Glass and Taylor were more in sync in the second half vs Hamilton but also had a bit of an easier go with the pass rush heating up. Rene hasn’t even dressed yet.

  30. Maybe he just sucked and they want to save salary? I can't recall him making any great plays so far and I know that he was burned a few times.

  31. I can't comment on the full game experience, but from watching most of the 2nd half I noticed Masoli had numerous drive killing bad snaps and also two - three extremely questionable calls that were not made against the Lions that also would of benefited Ottawa greatly. I wouldn't say based on what I saw that the Lions had everything stacked against them.

Dunnigan is always great as the color guy. I like his insights as a former player and his enthusiasm. Although Marshall hasn't been around that long, he's quickly become my favorite play by play guy on TSN for CFL, despite the two of us having some major disagreements on twitter a while back, lol. This combo is by far my favorite on TSN.

I did my research and I could post numerous articles from leading experts in this area that suggest otherwise but I choose not to because you live in an echo chamber. Wake up! 36. Frustrating game but good. Ott is good but just not good enough to pull out wins. I feel like Lapo gets canned and some one else walks into a team that becomes very good very quickly. Maybe with bob dyce at the helm. bc still seems like an over achiever to me. I look forward to seeing how they deal with real adversity. They won’t get games like they’ve played this year vs us. It’s going to be an ugly gutter bar brawl. The uglier the game the better for us. rourke is good. Not going to anoint him as great now or this year. At this point he’s a more mobile version of what we saw from early Dane evans. A mix of Dane and fajardo. Dangerous and lofty potential. But we’ve seen lots of Casey printers flash and then fizzle.

  37. Man that Ottawa center was bad...I'd almost go as so far to say those snaps may have cost them the game...messed up Masoli and timing on at least 4 occasions...could have been difference. Rourke battled for sure...but film is piling up...pressured he makes bad decisions...typical for a 2nd year guy...and he needs to learn to self preserve running...he's not a running back and is gonna get killed. Like any QB they should take advantage of busts and he did about 5 times against T.O and again tonight...if he doesn't get that then he performs the quick short pass game as bread and butter...but teams will start to feast and bottle that up and then we will see what he has. And again...a typical Lapo called game...good enough to just lose.. So based on points against after 3 games and TD's allowed...I guess WPG is top defense now? And they just getting rolling...next week's game will be interesting and I sure entertaining...hope the BC fans show up

Are you thinking of his back-up Michael O'Connor? He's also Canadian but has been around for a few years now (2019 with Toronto and 2021 with Calgary).

  49. 7 time CFL all star. CFL Hall of Fame, +10,000 career rushing yards, avg. 5.4 per carry, +3000 receiving. 6 x 1000 yard rushing seasons. MOP nominee. ANY CFL team would have loved to have him on the squad, despite his warts.
