BUt on the flipside...the G.M here was a major part/player in creating said culture here, and the treatment of the players...He and Oshea are 100 percent the reason for the franchise turn around in terms of success, and how viewed league wide....players talk..and Winnipeg has become one of the preferred landing spots in the league now

Yea...I've heard a crap load of players say they came to Winnipeg because of O'Shea and numerous others say because of how the players are treated by the organization. You'd have to have your head pretty far down the ostrich hole to be able to ignore the FACT that player recruitment in FA and player retention was in big part because of players wanting to play for O'Shea and because Wade Miller opened up the purse strings so that players felt appreciated. Walters does a fantastic job managing the SMS and getting the finishing strokes on contracts for the numbers we need but realistically I have not every heard one player say he came here or stayed out of a deep respect for Walters. O'Shea and the organization attracts and retains them and Walters works his magic on finding good recruits and getting their names on contracts.

Janarion is a key signing. Whenever you can get a returner as capable as he is of flipping the field it is a significant factor in a teams W/L column. I always felt that KRs never get enough credit for their contributions to team success.

I don’t think LaPo was the “scheme over talent” guy many would claim. The talent on this offence was a big o-line, a bull at running back who was a great receiver out of the backfield, one deep threat who had OK but not world class speed, and a QB with good accuracy and could run through progressions but a middling arm and was not a risk taker. LaPo crated a ball control offence that would not light it up but could control the time of possession and limit turnovers, and took advantage of a robot at kicker to get points on the board more often than risking turnovers that kept points off the board. Not as flashy as a high risk/reward quick strike offence, but took the tools he had and maximized its effectiveness and working around its shortcomings. When he had Milt, Khari, and Roberts in his first go-round he loaded up the playbook to use them. When Streveler came in he adapted to incorporate a strong running pivot with much less accuracy and made him a viable weapon that could throw just enough to keep defences off balance. When Collaros came in, the longer pass plays were then incorporated to work to his strengths. People knocked LaPo for a “predictable, boring” offence but it played to the ball control grind it out strengths we had and it won us a Grey Cup. At least that’s how I saw it. Many would chafe at the lack of excitement and non-sexiness of the “not a gun-slinger” style of offence, but you can’t argue with the ultimate result, and it for with the strengths of the talent we had.

One good thing about the Nichols move to Ottawa for me: we were not supposed to play the Argos at home this year due to the imbalanced schedule. At least now when the RedBlacks show up Oct. 2 the club can give Nichols a proper video tribute (which he deserves) and the fans can applaud him (which he even more so deserves) for all he did to bring the Bombers back from the dead into the playoffs and ultimately into a Grey Cup champion in his time here, not to mention all his community work and charitable donations.

100% agree. Yes,money always draws interest from any player but so does a good organization and staff. An immediate example is Bighill taking a monster pay cut to stay in Winnipeg. Gotta think a part of that decision was having Coach O'SHEA on the team. Walters/Miller and OShea have seriously brought this team back to a high level of respect and brought our city exactly what we'd been missing for so many years.

He came across as so stupid and arrogant that the entire jury found the NFL guilty but awarded the USFL the princely sum of ONE DOLLAR. The other USFL owners were so angry that none of them chose to appeal the verdict and none ever spoke to Trump or did business with him again. I would think that Trump would not pass up an opportunity to be the center of attention in the belief that he would be so clever and convincing that he would single-handedly convince the whole nation of his righteousness.

Wade deserves a fair bit of credit as well. He opened the puse strings in a big way and that was a huge part of it. Spending on things like charter flights, hot meals, etc.....seemingly "little things" that go a long way with players.

that Sask defence is going to be wretched, even if they try to go big in free agency..theres nothing really there now that will really improve you after all those losses...and as mentioned..that O-Line....yikes...scary scary weak, and zero...absolutely zero depth..there's nothing there at all

hey speaking of late round picks, what's going on with Johnny Exume? That guy was an assassin on the teams in 2019, loved watching him do his thing.

no mention of Brossoit's phenomenal effort on Gaudreau's shot at the end (to come out and challenge that far, taking away all of his targets) and Forbort's volleyball save, on a puck that went up and over Brossy and might have faleln in the net if he hadn't batted it away. Two absolutely crucial, game changing plays...

None, our only weak spot over the last 2 seasons has been QB and maybe at Safety. Our receivers haven't had flashy numbers but I think that's more so a result of the ball not coming to them rather then them not having talent. Lawler/Bailey were catching balls way more then whiffing on them.

Lawler and 'Sheed could really blow up, depending on how the offense is set up. I still think things will run through Harris, which means less touches for the REC's, but we've definitely got talent in the receiving corps that will be there when needed.

A few xmas's ago my brother got my girls a Harris and Nichols jersey. I Instagramed a pic of the girls wearing the jerseys and tagged both players. Nichols shared the pic on his feed and thanked my girls and wished them a merry xmas. Class act, I have nothing but love for Matty Ice.

I think there was interference on the play......and I am pretty sure the refs would still have upheld the goal. Great save but he almost blew it by failing to freeze the puck and letting it squirt out by his stick. He had buried his head and had no clue the puck was still loose. Good on Lowry for picking up the puck and dumping it out. Overall a really nice game from Brossoit, and Forbert had been playing it simple and steady for the most part.

I like the idea of McCal in rotation with the Jeffs. Still need some beef. Hope the stove reups. If not Sewell gives alot of push up the middle.

As much as I hate Lindsey Graham, this whole trend of "look at this picture of person X with person Y!" needs to stop. Something as simple as a selfie at a book signing can get taken completely out of context. Edit: I am not suggesting that is what happened here but pictures on their own are not enough...they need to be provided with context is all I am saying.
