Riderfans and negative rumours. Like Taman and Chamblin before him the process is this: 1. Jones will be defended. Critics will be mocked and ridiculed by the select few. 2. Front office becomes leery as negativity mounts. Select few follow suit. 3. More and more negativity is selectively leaked as firing is foregone conclusion. Select few being full participants . 4. Jones is fired. Avalanche of horror stories begins. Jones is now officially a villain, all accomplishments suspect or dismissed. One or more of select few reveals "I knew it all along but didn't want to say anything..." etc. 5. New guy hired. Reset process.2 points -

PRA is a solid line. If Maurice doesn't give them 10 minutes hes dumb. This to me is important.. Will Maurice play the 4th line more than 6 minutes. Give ESW and CLL a break. Cuz right now S and W in particular are being overplayed. My biggest concern with Maurice is he overplays some guys.. Overplayed Helle last year and this year too and is overpaying S and W. 4th line needs 10 minutes. Appleton is good.. Solid player with some finishing ability. Strong on puck. Let the 4th line play. Part of the 3rd period collapses this year is Maurices refusal to roll 4 lines and his love affair for overplaying S and W even when they aren't feeling it. S and W gassed.1 point -
I said "hey we should make this a thing" you said "no it wont happen they wont want to be associated with the mob" I said "well i meant the fans not the club" then a fan and a employee of the team makes a really cool shirt with canadian mafia on it. so you're wrong at this point, huge. you said "well, once the club starts selling merch then maybe" wont admit your wrong. Then they start selling the merch, nope, you wont admit you're wrong. what is your deal? what is with the internet and making people totally absent minded and refusing to admit when wrong? jesus mary and joseph.1 point

If LaPo takes the job in Toronto, what are we betting that his first move isn't making a trade for Matt Nichols? he esentially committed to the Blue & Gold for next season, but maybe after the "vote of confidence" Nichols got from Walters,. LaPo says "nah, time to look elsewhere... I'm not doing this again!". Just a thought!1 point -

NorthernSkunk reacted to trueBlue83 for a topic
But threw for 3 TDs and added one on the ground and 98 yards rushing. Nichols averaged 225 yards per game with just over 1 TD. People can point to us being "run heavy". But Ottawa ran the ball just as much with Powell, and Harris averaged 300 a game. Apparently the Argos are interviewing LaPo for the HC job, so maybe this whole conversation of scheme is thrown out the window in a week or two. maybe a fresh set of eyes to assess the QBs is what we need this offseason rather than just saying "Matt has won us a lot of games".1 point -
Well, we already knew that Jones had no problem with felons being on his team. If verified, this would put the icing on a tenure which could only be described as bizarre.1 point

Buff could have felt fine in the moment. Supposedly they did the impact protocol and presumably he passed. I think it's a no brainer that if a player is knocked unconscious, he doesnt return. And I think its a no brainer if a player takes a head shot, cant stand, is confused, rubber legged, he doesnt return regardless of how good he feels a few minutes later. Symptoms can present themselves later. But you're more susceptibleto further damage after the initial impact. I wasnt watching the game so I dont know how many hits Buff delivered or received after he returned, but any minor hit could have caused further damage.1 point -

I think the Diversity thing is really awesome. Connecting with the next generation is really important, as the average sports fan is aging, and there's fewer people coming up behind them to take their place. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-sports-with-the-oldest-and-youngest-tv-audiences-2017-06-301 point -
Any negativity toward the DIS program stems completely from a cynicism that is at least SOMEWHAT a byproduct of not wanting new immigrants into Canada. I'm not going to straight up use the R word to describe anyone on this board, but Canada is better for our multiculturalism. It's part of what makes us a desirable nation to live and work in.1 point

Canadian QBs aren’t discriminated against in the CFL. They simply aren’t as good as their American counterparts. One could make the argument that it’s because they aren’t given the resources or time to develop the skills adequately as youth but to say they haven’t been given a fair shot in the league or there is some sort of conspiracy against them is frankly ridiculous. It’s not the CFL’s fault that Canadian QBs aren’t good enough. If a Canadian QB counted toward the ratio, there still wouldn’t be any teams that used them.1 point

It was a reaction to what was going on at the States at the time. The murder in Charlotte & the riot as well as the NFL players kneeling. To me it was an Eff You to the NFL. And to Trump. It wasn't done for any other reason than that. I wouldn't put the CFL on a pedestal saying we're better than they are. The situation with Canadian qbs who are constantly discriminated against. There's still bias in the CFL. And I would argue that it wasn't the CFL that allowed guys like Bernie Custus to play qb up here. It was Canadian society. It allowed the open door policy of the CFL at the time. As far as racism against blacks here in Canada it still exists. Just ask anyone who has grown up in Halifax with the history of said racism in Nova Scotia. And there is still systemic racism against aboriginal groups in Canada. It has existed since white settlers first settled in Upper Canada in the 17th Century. Anyone who thinks we're better than the States is naïve. I'm just saying that we act so damned superior about racism in this country comparing our selves to the US when we aren't much better ourselves. The Diversity Is Strength is a great attempt at self aggrandizement by the CFL. Fine, it sold a lot of tee shirts. Congrats, Randy. Now fix the Canadian qb situation.1 point -

Completely agree. I don't understand the shouldn't get politics involved crowd. Life and Politics just go hand in hand now. If we don't want politics in sports, then stop the national anthem. Stop the military days, there could even be a case to stop certain commercials from airing. It's just a ridiculous point of view.1 point -
The Diversity Is Strength campaign is one of the best things the CFL has ever done!!! Players and fans all loved it. By far the highlight of Ambrosie's reign.1 point

Designated Mexican is not a part of any deal. This seems to be a rumour going around. I believe Arash (huge surprise there) was the first to mention it. But Every person involved in the league has denied this as something that would be a part of a deal...TV or otherwise.1 point -

Having a designated Mexican on each team is absolutely ridiculous.1 point -
The concern for me is precedent.....it's a slippery slope once we start becoming less focused on Canada and OUR league. I didn't like it when we started focusing on America in the 90s and I don't like focusing on Mexico now. The idea of mandating a Mexican player on each roster makes my stomach turn. Not because I have anything against Mexico, but because I want this to remain OUR league, and the sole focus be about Canada and OUR game. I've long been a proponent of increasing mandatory Canadians when most would prefer to see more Americans. I personally watch CFL because of the CanCon...I want to see us put a greater focus on our country and our players.1 point
