  1. Least enjoyable season in 10 years. Made worse by the fact that we all saw it coming a mile away. Future looks grim.

  2. **** all the negativity, and whining and crying so much. Whether we run all day, pass all day, need the D and ST to carry the whole load..... Just go win the damn thing.

  3. Count me out for trading Elgersma. He's the only guy that is really exciting me as a future QB for us. We need to go all in on rebuilding our o line and then pass the torch to Elgersma.

  4. Season was fumbled from the GM, on down. Recruiting and free agency were duds. The roster we did have was mismanaged, on a weekly basis. Questionable schemes on both sides of the ball, inconsistent QB play and no major adjustments made all year. We needed significant changes to coaching and the roster, at the start of the year Glaringly obvious now..........

  5. Oh, I'm fine with MOS back if he fires Hogan and gets a real OC and he starts saying bye bye to the aging vets. I get frustrated by him but appreciate the 9 straight 10+win seasons, 2 cup wins etc. Honestly a little worried about who we would replace him with. Yeah so basically I just want Miller to kick MOS and KW in the ass, light a fire and then improvements.

  6. If Toronto is looking for a replacement I know a real up-and-coming offensive co-ordinator that might fit.

  7. Just rewatched the end of the game l because I am an idiiot. Around four and a half minutes left, down by 6. The D gets a huge stop. Vaval gets a decent return, helped by a penalty. Offense takes over at the 45 with just over 4 minutes to go. What do they do? Throw away under pressure with no receivers in the same zip code, and a two yard pass to Wheatfall. Punt. Fire Hogan.

    Bombers @ Birds: ESF GDT

There is no universe in which Hogan should be brought back as offensive coordinator. He was an unmitigated failure and the offense outside of 1 game was abysmal.

  10. FWIW, I emailed Wade Miller yesterday in response to the club's email to me about being part of the sold out season. I hemmed and hawed but finally hit "send" (could have been the second glass of wine with dinner.) It will be interesting whether I get a response. Mr. Miller, Now that this disappointing season, in my opinion, has ended for the Bombers, I feel that I must express my views on a number of issues: Congratulations on the 14 straight sell-outs! As a partial season ticket holder (split two seats with two others) and also a casual ticket buyer, it felt good going to games that were sold out. The atmosphere was "electric" at times. However, based on what I saw on the field this year and to a lesser degree last year, I am considering not renewing my portion of those two season tickets. The current staff's use of the league's roster rules is a bit baffling to me, for instance, continually dressing more than the minimum required Canadians. (There are a couple of roster spots currently occupied by, in my opinion, non-starter quality Canadians.) The lack of use of the "nationalized American" rule is also concerning. (There are several veteran Americans on the team who would qualify and who might be better used in this category.) I realize that this is the C(anadian)FL but make better use of the rules. Head Coach O'Shea has made some odd roster choices throughout his tenure here. I first noticed it with his continual playing of Sam Hurl at MLB. Then it was the truly baffling decision to roster and keep trotting out the American, ex-Navy Seal, Damian Jackson. Truly bizarre, in my opinion. Currently, two players come to mind as starters who shouldn't be, Kolankowski at Centre and Thomas on the D-line. I've watched every Bomber game this season and the ineptitude of these two is quite evident. Surely, there are better players on the roster than those two veterans. Loyalty is fine to a degree but the coaching staff (Coach O'Shea?) is taking loyalty to another but detrimental level. I was wary when Jason Hogan was announced as the new OC but, at the time, trusted that the Bombers' tall foreheads knew what they were doing. However, I'm extremely disappointed in Hogan, not so much that he was a "rookie" but, to my eye, because he didn't improve his plans and playcalling over the course of the season. It is my opinion that Hogan should be relieved of his duties. I greatly appreciate what Collaros has done for the team signed he was signed. However, I (and a few others) have noticed a decline in his play that started at least a year ago. I don't understand why before this past season started, he was signed to a contract extension. To me, it would have made more sense to have him "show us" before the extension was offered. The "elephant in the room" for me, and judging by letters to the editor and comments on online CFL and Bombers forums, many others (a majority of current CFL fans?) are the proposed rule and field dimension changes. No doubt tweaks to the rules are warranted. Getting rid of the single point for kicking or punting through the end zone and a few others I can live with. However, the dramatic changes to the dimensions of the field of play and moving the goal posts (literally) are a "no go" for me and many others. When was the last time that someone was injured by the post? Sure the odd football hits an upright as Collaros this past Saturday. As a teenager in the mid-1960s, I was at a playoff game where the Bombers beat the Roughriders because Ron Lancaster hit an upright when had Gord Barwell wide open for what would have been the game-winning TD. It's rare but it's part of the Canadian game. The lack of prior consultation by the league with its stakeholders (i.e., the fans) was not a good move in my opinion. Perhaps, the league's brain trust thinks that the changes will bring in new fans? Perhaps but will that offset the potential loss of current fans (i.e., me). I have also read that the players and management were not even consulted. And what of Football Canada, U Sports and minor football in general? What are they to do and better still who will pay for it? I will not comment on the league's (and pro sports in general) ever increasing "symbiosis" with the "gaming" industry other than that I abhor it. Sincerely, real name and mobile phone number

  18. I was looking at the 2021 CFL all stars. The Bombers dominated the west with 15 (4 this year for comparison) and the thing that is really crazy is we had 6 out of the 9 available spots on the O-Line and D-Line, and not a single player this year in either of those positions btw, it all starts with the complete overhaul in the trenches, to me there’s not a single starter that should feel 100 percent safe on both sides of the line except in my opinion Cam Lawson.

  19. I don’t necessarily think that’s entirely fair to say. It’s going to be a long road back personnel wise before any coach (O’Shea included) has success here. Despite what O’Shea thinks, we need a total overhaul. The roster is ancient and being held together with duct tape and chewed gum.

  21. I'm not 100% opposed to OSH returning if he can show that he can make changes needed. If he can't recognize that Hogan was a mistake and wants to keep continuity there, then I think OSH should be shown the door. Hamilton's column in the Freep today talked about why he didn't think OSH would go to Toronto. Basically saying that OSH wouldn't want to be in an environment where he had to make lots of changes and couldn't keep with continuity. Good description of OSH but also good reasons why we need to move on here.

  22. If they run it back with Hogan, they won't be getting my season ticket dollars. I'm a diehard fan so, of course, I'll watch them and cheer and jeer from my big-assed recliner but that's it! Some interesting management/coaching scenarios have been discussed here. With both Walters and O'Shea without contracts and the situation in Toronto, it will be interesting times watching things unfold. There's a rumor (and I stress RUMOR) out there that Walters and O'Shea are no longer seeing eye to eye. Could it be because Walters has brought in some decent players who have been cut or have not been given adequate chances to prove themselves on the field? Anyway, if football is like most professional sports, the coach will be let go first. (Most managers get at least two coach misses before they're shown the door.)

  23. There were plenty of 1000 yrd runners. but only 1 lead the league in all purpose yards. Brady is more than just a runner. His ability out of the back field is just as good imo. Add in his ability to block and the only answer is to pay him. I also don't think this regime can afford to let another league leading all star player walk (like Lawler).

  24. The past two years, Brady has been the engine of the offense and often the only reason it has had success. I'd hate to lose him because we keep Hogan or decide not to pay him. Especially when Zach needs to take a cut of at least $100,000, Willie is overpaid, Vaughters is overpaid, Kola and Thomas are deadweight.

  25. That interview with Collaros is stunning. Imagine your starting QB saying after 21 games that your offense couldn't settle on anything they were "good at", and that you spent training camp running stuff you never used. Is that normal? I don't even know what to say...

  26. Yep. Platooning Smith and Shay (Shay starting and taking the largest portion of snaps) at one Lber spot would benefit us in soo many ways. Then the amount we played woodbey as well, making him our go to wil would only make sense. You can trade Jones for some asset, save salary cap over both jones and kyrie, gain a starting canadian on the ratio, and then you can have 2 lbers capable of picking up a wr in coverage or dropping back into a deep zone. It's like having 2 prime biggies in pass cover out of the 2nd level. We need a 2nd Canadian DL who can actually play. With that, we would have the flexibility to do any thing we want else where. We could go 3 full time imps on the OL with ease.

  27. How do you justify bringing Kyrie back (at 33 years old) when you have Shay, Smith, Woodbey, and Ayers all potentially on the roster... Love what Kyrie brought in his prime... he was arguably the MODP front runner in 2022 before getting hurt... and of course we'll never forget the scoop from Rose for the 2021 GC clinching int... but it's time to move on

  28. Collaros seems to have settled into that comfort zone where he doesn't really care anymore. Was evidenced by the suspension he served. There's a whole lot of complacency around this team that needs to get gone. Preseason next year better be an absolute dog fight for spots.

  29. This likely worthy of a new thread but what changes should we make for next year? To me: Easy Choice-They Need to go Hogan, Kolo, Thomas, Mitchell, Logan Can Stay but needs a pay cut Zach ($600,000 is too much, $400-$450,000 would be ok) I feel like we need to move on Jefferson, Kyrie Wilson May Retire Bryant, Neufeld Don't bring back due to health Streveler, Schoen

  30. We had 3 DEs that showed more last week than our 2 veterans have all year. Our D line sucked. Could have been the difference.

  31. Thomas and Willie need to be cut immediately on D to have any hope for next year. Kolankowski also. There's a lot more but those 3 are huge liabilities that need to go.

  34. Really showing the fans what the team is made of. In a year when the cup is coming to your house, you field a team that hasn't done much of anything this year. No urgency. No guts. No passion. Just collecting a pay cheque and looking to head south to warmer climes. Disgusting.

  42. The problem I have with this idea is if O'Shea is the coach... and Kyrie resigns... there's no competition... Kyrie is the starter in pen This would be my only condition for bringing back guys like Kyrie, Willie, Vaughnters, and even Neufeld... you have to earn your spot... I don't trust our coaching staff to do that

  43. AND lines are built from inside and out...and we were/are worst in the league at center and DT.....and who do we play there...JT and the Matador Kolo You set the inside...anchor a Tackle and an End....you thrive I had no issue with Big Stan...a solid center....and guard who doesn't have to compensate....and Bryant is just...Bryant and Really I'd have no issue if he comes back and we stop the rigidity of our ratio. With who we have currently, Give me a Bryant..Vpool..Eli...Wallace...Randolph and Neuf as 6th and we are light yrs better than what we witnessed all yr Only reason why I have Neuf behind Wallace is because the young buck needs to play to get even better...and Neuf can play allalong the line save for LT if need be Same with defence.....get 2 actual inside guys to work with Lawson....2 young ends to take major reps....with another to rotate on and yes have WJ playing varied spots on the line and just told to get after the QB and be responsible in that role....we'd be just fine....it's not rocket science This idea of WJ to play knockdown and be flat footed all the time...constant Jake and Korn when he was on roster doing nothing....no rotational end whatsoever an then on top dressing 2 DA's who served no use on defence more times than not was just suicide....We have 2 Canadians in Shay and Smith who excel on teams and could easily take consistent reps on defense and probably become really good to allow you to dress an extra American for the dline....Plus use Bailey as another guy who plays teams, can play on defense and lso works to your benefit ratio wise...The use all yr of the other Global who had no use at all again was a wtf you doing decision....

  46. I think what most people want to see is the attempt to get better at areas we know are a problem. Bring in bodies for Thomas until you find the right guy, try centres until you find a guy better than Kolankowski etc etc etc. Instead we stand pat.

our defense is as good as any in the league, And most of the issues people have are on fringe starters. I expect this game will be close and I won't be surprised if Willie is a difference maker

  49. Jesus... He was starting for them tomorrow. That's interesting.... Not that he's an impact player for them at all, but still.... It's not even so much optimism as just "I really ******* enjoy Bombers game day..." We only get 18 of these a year, plus pre season, and any "bonus" playoff games we get, you're goddamn right I'm gonna enjoy it. The offseason is long enough... Let's enjoy every last drop of Bombers football while we can.
