I've upgraded the board to the next major version. This is a significant upgrade from Version 4 to Version 5. I've been putting this off for almost a year as I didn't want to do it mid-season. Now with activities for next season starting, I wanted to get the upgrade in before next season activities start so any bugs can get worked out. Why the upgrade.... This gets us on the most current version, which is important for security updates and new functionality. They have been doing security patches for the old version, but that won't last forever, and this also lets me upgrade some of the software that the board runs on to a current version. Like everything else, the people who make the board software are really trying to push everyone to their cloud, as that gives them higher recurring revenue. But their hosting costs do not make sense for the size of the forum (it would 2x to 4x the cost I pay now depending on what plan we went to). Good news for now is they've committed to version 5 of the software to be self hosted. That should hopefully buy 5 - 10 years before they go to version 6. Please be patient There is going to be some tweaks and changes you'll notice over time, feel free to post in here anything that seems off or not right, there are still some tweaks that need to make to settings and the theme. Some changes you may notice They completely changed how tagging works. Now admins / mods can maintain a list of tags, members can't create new ones. This was done to better categorize and search content. All existing tags have been converted, but let me know if you want new tags created. Support for Web Apps on your phone Complete theme overhaul. A new theming system means I've had to rebuild the theme. It is close to what we used to have, but there will be some discrepancies. There are still some more tweaks and updates I want to make to it. There is a completely revamped post editor. It does seem to be easier to use and more powerful. A lot of other behind the scenes updates and changes to things we don't use that often.

I hate change. This is going to take me like a year to get used to.

Wrong! Theyre special. I mean look at their championships. 5! Thats right, you can barely count them on 1 hand. You think that happens easily? You think 5 championships just appear out of nowhere? When we all look at the Riders in 20 years, we will all say wow....5 championships. Thats something else!!

Really going to miss Schoen on the Bombers, it was a treat getting to watch him play when he was fully healthy. Always going to be a big what if. If he could have stayed healthy I think he could have turned into one of the greats. Dumb decisions to play him injured, and man the guy took a pounding after the catch on some less than stellar passes.

I think you can pretty much count on the Bombers starting 3 American OL with Elsbury being a strong contender to win the centre job too....possibly 4. They have 13 American OL signed for 2026.

Now I seem to remember several folks on here getting really mad that we paid Brady so much money and that we wouldn't have any funds left over for free agency.

Woulda loved AJ Allen but the Bombers are fully committed to Tony Jones and Kyrie Wilson for some reason... But anyhow... Kyle Walters up there taking batting practice this morning and dropping them all 450ft over the left field wall....

Holy ****, were not screwing around this year, sign Ceresna and thats a serious roster. Upgrades everywhere we needed desperately, Walters wasn't ******* around this time.

The Riders could sign every free agent and win 14 straight Grey Cups and they would still suck. That is just a fact. I don't know why Rider fans come on here thinking they can convince us otherwise.

The DT we have added to our negotiation list are very interesting and it’s pretty obvious by the amount of them we have added this year that we’re recruiting hard there Anterio Thompson added on the 19th … 6’4 310 James Thompson Jr added on the 23rd … 6’6 305 Kevionta Spears added on the 28th … 6’4 315 Casey Rogers added on the 23rd … 6’5 305 Dominic Bailey added on the 16th … 6’3 300 Looks like they’re recruiting a specific build type of here and not looking at the fire hydrant guys we have in the past. Getting longer. Like to see that a lot.

I would imagine Shay and Smith will get reps otherwise I’d be starting to ask why we drafted them. But hey, I’m not the coach.

I’m curious to see if we actually use the roster exemption spots this year, since we never have. It’s been a bit murky so I may admittedly not completely understand it. Pretty sure we have to start 8 “Canadians” but one of them can be an American with enough service time. This is the one that baffles me, since we consistently deploy enough veterans. We could also use the designated Nationalized American and I’m wondering if that’s what they do with Ceresna. The Bombers have been adding a LOT of DT types to the negotiation list lately, which makes me wonder if they’re still going to try and find a big body there and utilize the inside-outside ability Ceresna has. Not being inside the mind of Walters or O’Shea, it’s impossible to say what they’re thinking but what I would personally do at this point with the way our roster is built … I’d declare 6 Canadians (Brady, Demski, Nield, Neufeld, whoever plays center and Stan) on offense and 2 Canadians (Lawson and Kramdi) on defense to get to 8 and then I’d start a rookie DT next to Lawson and make Ceresna the designated Nationalized American on defense … rotate him in for Lawson up to 25 snaps, rotate him for Willie or the other American DT the rest of the time. We also could use a designated Nationalized American on offense in addition, but I’m not really quite sure how you’d work that since your 6th OL is probably Gabe Wallace which you’re happy with.

And 2 moves to the d line. Thomas out and Ceresna in. Both lines will be vastly improved. If you subscribe to the notion that teams are only as good as their lines, you're loving this. Receivers vastly improved with Tim White and Tommy Nield Running back status quo (great) QB. Zach is Zach. He will likely thrive with the overall talent built around him. But it might be nice to get a good backup. Linebackers status quo (should be fine but obviously would be nice to be better) DBs should be just as good if not better with Moxey Special teams we are status quo (good) It should be a great year.

For what its worth saw a recent article with him and he says it was a fluke injury and he’s 100% now. I didn’t produce (in 2025), I didn’t do what I was supposed to do, so I’ve got no arguments about that. The biggest worry with a guy getting injured is, ‘Are they going to be the same player?’ They’re going to have their worries and you know what? I’m not going to be the same player, I’m going to be a better player going into 2026,” said Ceresna. “All I can do is show with my actions. I know there’s gonna be people that don’t believe in me or question if I’ve still got it and that’s fine — that’s just gonna add fuel to the fire and it’s gonna motivate me more and more to prove them wrong.”

We need to add a mind blown emoji to the reactions... to recap: Bombers added the best OL available, the best DT available, top 3 receiver available, best Canadian receiver available, and an all-star DB which basically got swept under the rug with all the other news... As much as some people want to hate on Coach O'Shea... his reputation around the league is unmatched... and I guarantee some of those guys signed because of him

With the new window, this happened last year as well. Announcements by the respective teams came on the first day of free agency on February 10th. Okay, I'll say it. I'll eat crow. By far, Walters has won the off season. He's hit a home run after home run this entire off season.. He's no longer a bridesmaid but the bride. The Old Walters is back.... errr... the Young Walters. I'm lovin' it. Now, all I ask is my kingdom for a big interior DL to pay the zero & 1 technique. A run stopper. A disruptor. Someone to create chaos inside like Stove did.
