  1. signed peyton thorne. wow its going to be interesting to watch the qbs in camp. Mich state, auburn, played at good schools. Guy has incredible raw talent and athleticism. Easy smooth arm action with a good release. Very capable runner. He’s not really wired for high volume running. Great upside in a young guy.

  3. Think everything we need to know about Hogan came from Lapo on a broadcast when he said something along the lines of "that's a whiskey bottle play call.... because if it doesn't work everyone in the stands is going to throw a whiskey bottle at you"

  4. Now, if they would name Kola as the new head of catering….indisputable.

  5. Honestly Booch has hated Jake Thomas for years, even when he was a serviceable backup player. Just hates guys with limited athletic ability who succeed anyway. I say give Jake a chance in this role and see how he does with it.

  6. Until of course the moment Thomas arrives on the scene.

  7. I actually laughed about the Jake-As-Coach thing just because I knew exactly what the reaction would be. So funny. I think he's well respected in the room and 13 years experience is definitely worth passing on to th next generation. I'm happy for the guy.

  8. He can't be as bad as Patterson was and if it takes him off the field it's a double win. Are you seriously complaining about this? Jake is a long time veteran DL of our club and league, he has a ton he can teach. That doesn't necessarily mean he will be a good coach but excluding his chances of being one based on his playing career doesn't make sense either. Look at Ryan Dinwiddie, guy was a career backup and barely at that and is a great coach. I'm willing to give him a chance, and at the same time get rid of Patterson who was god awful.

  9. Condell has had success with good RBs in the past. He hasn't run an offense that leads he league in rushing, but he hasn't ever had the best back in the league or a top-tier guy either. I mean, the RBs kept starting a WR at RB rather than bringing in a real one. As others have said, I have to believe that with brady locked up on a monster deal, that part of the due diligence was making sure Condell would fit in here with the balanced attack at the very least. Also, him constantly being behind other offensive minds and running other systems, I tend to think he will either run the successful stuff we've had prior to the last 2 years or has some great ideas and hasn't been able to fully show them. It's far from my favorite pick for OC. But at the very least, I expect a good improvement. Yeah, Hogan and Buck in his last year really seemed to be at odds and out of sync with Zach. He was furious so often because the calls from both came in ridiculously slowly. Which means you break the huddle late, have to rush lining up, and get significantly less time to survey the D in the pre-snap read. I can't emphasize enough how important an extra 4 seconds breaking the huddle are. Little on if you break the huddle and start lining up before the D. We used to reap huge advantages from being set way ahead of the D, and running any play out of any formation. That has been completely gone for 2 years. Not only does it make it harder to pass and run RPO, but it also makes it harder to protect the QB. \ Condell, as an OC, gets a C grade from me right now. I worry that it will be a high-floor, low-ceiling pick, but time will tell, and I am fine giving him the benefit of the doubt. He also worked very well with Dru, which bodes well for fit with Zach imo.

  10. So Brady, Demski, Kramdi and Lawson, 4 likely starting Canadians, a young, up and coming WR in Wilson and Nichols. Walters is doing a great job thus far.

  12. We added this guy like two days ago, they obviously “wanted” him and didn’t want anyone else to get him. Wonder if this was a Sunderland find that they wanted to make sure didn’t find his way to Hamilton or something like that. Dude had video game numbers against a terrible level of competition. 1600 yards and 22 TD in 10 games in 24-25. Went for 15 catches, 390 yards and 5 touchdowns in one game that I can only assume was against the cafeteria staff.

  13. he actually runs a really good QB school....and is great with the x's and o's of things....He has got a lot of praise for his work with young QB's....so he would be a pretty good addition to the coaching staff as he rehabs....we gave Thomas a spot and he does pretty much zero in regards to coaching to this point

  14. Too bad about Parker as I believe injuries kept him from being really good. That said given his injury history, I am ok with them moving on. When does Dillon Mitchell get officially released?

  15. I’ll just take these moves at face value. Hogan, it seemed like everyone knew he sucked at his job and it grew to be a point of contention with several players (Zach, Brady, etc) so I really don’t get the desire to bring him back in any capacity. Jake, as much as I’ve hated seeing him get trotted out there for the past … 5??? years, I’m really not too bothered by us hiring him. That being said, I think it’s fair to say this isn’t a move that gives me confidence as a fan. Also fair to say, it’s probably the first move we’ve made all offseason that has given me pause (and the fact that it’s an O’Shea decision shouldn’t be lost on any of us)

  16. The best players don't always make the best coaches. It's often the less gifted guys who make tremendous coaches... so how good withh Jake Thomas be as DL coach? I don't know but it's not some immediately crucifiable since to try.

  17. so Demski is getting 240k next...245k in 27" with some in that yr gauranteed....all things considered a good deal for us with

  20. Going back over the years and looking back at the hold out names we drafted, that didn't work out, how about the obvious one sitting on the tsn panel Henoc Muamba....We wined and dined the guy and his family...bent over backwards to sign him ,then he did a tour of the CFL AND suddenly signed with Montreal....I still have problems with this guy, whenever I see him mouthing it up on games

  22. This is the feeling I'm getting too with this move. Like "Hey you stepped up when we were in a tight spot, it didn't work out but we don't want to cast you aside because of it"

  23. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Complaining we can't keep guys because they over spent in free agency or keeping our own guys and complaining about lack of splash free agent signings. Bottom line there's no right or wrong, the only judgements are in the win column.

  24. You realize that Hogan was our RB coach before when BO had his best years right? I think these are great moves for our organization.

  25. And so is Hogan as RB coach. Winnipeg Blue Bombers hire Tommy Condell as offensive coordinator, Jake Thomas as defensive line coach - 3DownNation

  26. He's just been around long enough to have had years at the top and years around the bottom. Ultimately your play caller is affecting a small chunk of your production. It's up to the talent you have and whether your OL can block anyone especially in pass pro. He'll look like a ******* genius if they have the best OL in the league. Let's hope Zach can make his pee tests this year.

  27. Agree. Whether he is great or not he's a huge upgrade on Hogan. He'll at least have implemented a full CFL playbook.

  28. Hogan back...why....pointless Couldnt cut ties with useless Thomas so have him coach?...??...Like wtf....with all his coaching experience and all....the least adept technical/skill guy we have...so have him coach?...makes sense to me...what a joke...those 2 moves just take the shine off of what so far has been a good off-season...but not a shocker...

  29. Hogan was the RB coach for the past 3 seasons. And Jake no doubt has extensive knowledge about DL play.

  30. Good plan. Put hogan specifically as the coach for the one area he was the most horrible at last year. And Jake Thomas coaching. Feels like two giant steps backwards to me, but I hope I’m wrong.

  31. The streamer world with people who 24/7 live stream is such a bizarre world. It's so much fakery to entice 12 - 15 year old boys into believing it's real and for those kids to donate money to encourage the streamer to continue doing stupid ****. The stupid viewers actually think that these guys own mansions and luxury sports cars when in reality they are flat broke trying to maintain "the image". This broccoli head Jack Doherty is one of and possibly the worst. He's currently desperate for attention since his 5 minutes are up and he needs to get into altercations to get a few eyes back on him to earn some money. At some point he will end up pissing off the wrong person and end up dead. Playing with fire.

  33. Fans are hilarious. One bad season will not result in a firing. The Buffalo GM just got fired after 5 losing years. The 2 GMs before him each had 3 years. Like it or not, Chevy is going nowhere unless he wants to leave. Anybody thinking otherwise is either naive, stupid or both.

  34. yeah, you look at how Buck lost his shine here right around the time that our OL hit the skids and Collaros started tossing tons of picks -- then he goes to BC where he's got the legit MOP, a good back, receivers five deep and a line that can pass protect ... and now he looks like a genius and we'd take him back in a second. Crum surpassed my expectations last year. Showing steady upward progress. Wonder what his ceiling is? Would be happy to see him at QB2 in blue.

  35. If we could land him at a nice price.....with Pokey...Demski...and whomever after that it would be a great situation....I could see him being a WR that ZC has a real good chemistry with and allow room for others to come free

  36. Can't discount that he knows Zach too. Hell maybe he'll bring Hardy with him as a bonus

  37. Although I was taught not to assume, I'm assuming he was informed of that in the interview process so there should be no confusion in the identity we want to set offensively.
    4 points
  38. anyway you slice it...an upgrade and we can only benefit from his hire...Hopefully he realizes he has a feature back to ride, as he tends to neglect the run and force the passing game, and based on BO comments I'm sure he would not have signed here yet...if at all if he didnt get some input and or re-assurance that Condell is gonna use him as the focal point of his offence...He was likely agreed as OC before BO...and Demski signed

  41. Cap wise, I agree that this is the best position we’ve gone into the off season in in a long time. And you have the ability to fix your cap year to year. If you have the will to do it. We have a few awful deals, but the cap growth and off season turn over makes it workable. Wj, is one of the worst contracts in the league. Dl is one of our biggest positions of need. Idk if we will actually spend at dl though. Zachs lack of consistency and quality concerns me more than his pay. Yes 600k is a yikes. But it’s not like we have a comparable guy available for 400-500k. The only way up for us at qb, is going young. And that is a very risky and lengthy process. These guys we will see what they got. I have to imagine with the timing and cap space left that we have them front loaded deals that won’t hit the cap hard next year. Especially with the importance brady put on guaranteed money. With the current market demski probably goes from too expensive but very effective to a good deal. Even with a raise. We’ve had opportunities and money to spend. We just haven’t done much to invest in league free agent. That’s the big moment I think we are all waiting for. To really see if we’ve changed. Moving on from some one old is inevitable one way or another.
