  2. Wheatfall just made a great diving catch for a TD at practice. He looks to be Lawler's replacement in the lineup.

  3. No eye rolls here. If it was the Bombers I’d be laughing and saying “well, they could have stopped it instead of crying about it”. I’ve always felt that way about running up the score. Fair game. If the other team doesn’t like it, do something to stop it.

  4. there were a few of us who said it. Now I think most of tonight was squarely on not playing in preseason for most of the offensive starters, but yeah Collaros has seen some really concerning aspects creep into his game last season and tonight. We got Streveler for a reason, use him if collaros is sucking the hind teet

  5. FAJARDO BACK TO PASS! JAKE THOMAS WITH THE PRESSURE! FAJARDO FUMBLES, OH NO! GAUTHIER PICKS UP THE FOOTBALL, HES GOING TO TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE! 60-3 BOMBERS LEAD! The crowd goes wild, Booch’s head explodes and we go 1-0 to start the season.

  6. The funny thing is O'Shea, in the couple of times I have talked to him, is very engaging and easy to talk to.

  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at our training camp cuts and depth chart, I don't think one vet lost a spot to another player. Not one cut and not one demoted to a backup role. That seems problematic to me. Not one person that jumped off the chart to gain a spot or a vet that declined to lose a spot (other than those not re-signed)? Not even something somewhat surprising like Eli jumping ahead of Kolankowski or Lofton losing the starting RT spot he was basically assigned when he joined our team? Augustine losing his spot to Rosery? Perhaps that will change as the season rolls along, but I don't take it as a good sign that we could have penciled in the depth chart other than which rookies grabbed the spots not contested by vets.

  9. So I generally remember Bombers by their best moments rather than their worst -- I remember Michael Bishop throwing laser bombs all day against the Als and I remember Ritchie Hall absolutely owning the Lions last year, and I remember Justin Goltz throwing that crazy TD to Clarence Denmark at the Skydome .... and I remember Lapo's Grey Cup 2019 game where he had the Ticats chasing smoke all day. Lapo had some frustrating moments in blue but he had his high points too.

  10. I don’t think anyone’s complaining necessarily I think we’re just running out of things to talk about. let’s go back to talking about how negative TBURGESS is all the time for four pages of this thread

  11. I want to be fair with the last comment I made though: I don’t think our young players were the big problem this past week. It was definitely on the veterans.

  14. To be honest I think you are so conditioned to be critical at this point you're being unreasonable. We got 2 ends, we got 2 DTs as backups with enough athletic ability to swing outside and take some snaps there. Not going to cripple the team for one game. Last year we gave snaps to Bennett and Jackson who couldn't accomplish ****. This year is not the same IMO just because they actually kept some athletic types on the DL.

  16. Looks like Feltmate will be in the lineup on Thursday as he getting work on special teams. It's my guess that Jones doesnt play as he's on scout teams.

  17. Hubris is exactly the word for that one. Years of "player x doesnt need to practice" "player y is a pro, he doesnt need reps in the pre-season" "we dont need to use that rule, and we can start 8-9-10 canadians because we're so great" has finally come home to roost...hard. I hope this isn't the beginning of the end, but its starting to look like "just one more year" of running it back without any competition or contingency for the aging out of veterans has finally come back to bite us. It could be a long season - I hope I'm wrong, but I'm worried.

  18. Trick question, there are no backups, they're all starters. Just as Mike O'Shea

  21. Murphy has not been talked about nearly enough. His actions are every bit as bad as Kelly's. In this day and age you can not sweep this under the rug and fire people bringing this up to you.

  22. Agreed wholeheartedly. I genuinely think he’s so competitive he doesn’t want to put anything out there for the masses that he doesn’t have to

  23. This is from Ed Tait's recent interview with Jordan Younger, quoting Younger... "He (Younger) also offered this, when it was suggested the promotion helped keep him in Winnipeg rather than leave for another organization: “I love being a Winnipeg Blue Bomber. I’m really close with Mike O’Shea. I would have been very happy staying here anyway. Moving up that coaching ladder is the optimal goal, but I’ve been around for a little while and Winnipeg is a special place. “There’s some things you can’t put a dollar sign on and being in Winnipeg is one of them.”"

  25. The practice roster is what makes me more frustrated than anything, to be honest. The use of it is just horrendous. Historically, here have been the past couple years looking at our American PR August 2022: OL Witt, OL Lofton, K Mourtada, DL Wilcots, WR Harrison, DL Mack, DB Holm October 2022 (post expanded PR): OL Witt, OL Lofton, OL Fornadel, OL Muljo, K Mourtada, WR Harrison, WR Heiligh, DL Adams, DL Massie, DB Texada July 2023: OL Ivy, OL Richmond, DB Muhammad, DB McGhee, DL Fox, LB Cole, WR Jones, FB Jackson October 2023: OL Richmond, DL Haba, DL Garbutt, DL Fox, WR Alston, DB Lawrence, DB McGhee We’ve been carrying a ton of OL on the practice roster since 2022 and it’s netted us absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, we’ve carried literally one linebacker, zero running backs, no receivers who have amounted to anything (mostly due to not ever getting an opportunity), a kicker that was absolute trash, a fullback and usually a DB or two. Obviously these are just snapshots, but the formula isn’t working. Look at the turnover and look what it’s amounted to. This is not how we should be using this part of our roster at all.

  26. Yeah the compete level of training camp didn't align with being prepared for Game 1. They had 96 guys on the field 6 days before Game 1. Coaching staff and management might have to check their arrogance about how prepared they are soon.

  28. Seriously worried that we kept the wrong QB. I'm debating whether this is the worst game I've seen in this stadium. It's this or vs Argos Frito Ray 2014 for worst game I've personally seen at Fort Hew.

  29. Kudos to the Als. They've played a great and disciplined game, and their coaching has been really good as well, making ours look very bad.

  37. Wtf is wrong with you people? MOS taking this for granted. Not putting out the best product, preseason #3? Offense bogging down etc etc etc Jesus Christ it's ******* Tuesday before the game. You're all talking like they lost already. Don't need this type of negativity before I'm done my coffee. Bombers win big in Thursday. Y'all should go buy a Fajardo jersey

  41. The only solace that I take from this is that it's not how you start a season but how you finish it. I'd rather us limp out of the gate and be healthy down the home stretch. The thing that concerns me is the lack of drive and hunger. It's a team that looks "fat and lazy" right now.

  47. Unfortunately, the Bombers played their last pre-season game in a game that actually mattered. What is Buck trying to do out there? I am confused with this offense and have been for a couple of years. Why can't we take advantage of having such elite playmakers out there?

  48. I'm going to simply say there's a lot of over-reaction going on but also some very valid and warranted concerns. I think Montreal, at least defensively, is one of those teams we don't match up well with. Noel Thorpe has done a pretty damn good job of making our "stars" look very pedestrian. That said, it didn't help that our starting offense didn't play a single rep in the preseason. That's on our coaching staff and, to a lesser extent, the players for not advocating for themselves. The organization has enjoyed so much success the last half decade that complacency may be setting in - I don't see the hunger or urgency any longer. Montreal on the other hand looks like they want it. That goes back to last year and their Grey Cup run. Three turds for this one: Zach Collaros - I'm not going to jump on the Zach is cooked bandwagon but last night was a continuation of what we've seen at various points over the last couple of years. In the game day thread I asked what QB will we see and sadly we got the guy who looks like a deer in headlights. Sergio Castillo - even recognizing that the chipped ball may have played a role in what happened last night, he's paid to do one job and do it well. I think he would recognize that wasn't his best effort. Mitchell - another guy I called out in the game day thread and a guy I've never been sold on. He sort of demonstrated why last night but will acknowledge that he's never been asked to return kicks in a game (up here) before last night. Even with some of the defensive struggles last night (which I think largely stems from guys not playing together a whole lot), they did enough to win the game had the offense showed up. I didn't think BA looked terrible, he's still a physical presence but he doesn't have the range he used to. WJ was invisible - still has to be accounted for but was hoping for more last night. The secondary, in general, will play better the more they play together and I sort of figured that chemistry and communication would be an issue early. Overall though, this side of the ball wasn't the issue. Three stars: Chris Streveler - guy played with more heart and emotion than anyone else on our offense - he's hungry, he still has the dawg in him, he still has a sense of urgency. Devin Adams - for a guy still playing his way into game shape, he was disruptive and made his presence felt. Terrell Bonds - got tested a few times and was solid, really happy with his addition to the backfield.

  49. Yup we've been to the GC last four years in a row. Haters extremely tired of us. Everyone outside of our community is hoping for a different result. I get it, I know this aint going to last but sure am going to enjoy everything in the moment. 5 GC appearances in a row has a nice ring to it. Three Grey Cup wins in five consecutive GC appearances has a better ring to it.
