  1. Receiver battle shaping up to be the one to watch. Think they are looking for a slot to replace Bailey, another rangy wideout type and a returner/gadget guy out of the Americans. Interesting how many guys we have signed at receiver who played some QB in college too. Almost too many to be a coincidence.

  3. Really depends on what you need, if you wanna talk scouting. Bombers and Argos scouting staff both seem to have an incredible handle on finding defensive backs and offensive linemen. Argos seem to find guys to play all over in the box, Bombers have had great success finding interior linemen. Rigmaiden finds more receivers than anyone league-wide (could be wrong but I think I remember being told Schoen was his add to the neg list too) and it seems like the Bombers have figured out a pretty good recipe for finding the CFL style quarterbacks.

  4. And when you have a son whose reputation and career options are torpedoed from a false allegation perhaps you'll understand why rushing to judgement can be ill advised. In that case, even when proven false, the damage is irreparable.

  5. A friend of mine was actually in the crowd when Murphy yelled the slur at a fan. It was his friend that got punched by Murphy, it’s still an absolutely insane scenario.

  12. For those of us too lazy to look... anyone care to share this mythical name?

  13. Yeah that might be the biggest producing conference now. That and pretty much every school in Florida lol. With Florida it seems to have the deepest talent, and the most scouting from cfl teams. It also seems like as many players league wide come from the smallest schools that few have ever heard of before. The rarest thing seems to be a guy under 27/28 from one of the major teams like usc. Can some one break down the talking points? Namely the JY bit?

  14. Bombers currently have 17 on the roster... Bombers usually go DB crazy too as it doesn't seem to be an area they spend money on

  15. Argos/Bombers imo are neck and neck for best scouting in the league, and as much as I hate to say it, Toronto’s actually done better than us there over the last 2 years.

  23. Workplace sexual harrassment isn't in an of itself criminal, just disgusting behavior of the highest order but you are half right....Kelly's behavior has now become very conspicuous. I know you wanna hang onto the shred of hope that this is a nothing to see moment in Kelly's career, or even a one off. History has clearly demonstrated this is not the first, and won't be the last time this guy's true character shows up. It really is too bad that a guy with million dollar talent is limited by a 2 cent brain. Not sure I would want to wear a Rider jersey with name on it around Winnipeg. Too many mouth breathers would find that double whammy too enticing to provoke an altercation,

  25. Kelly has been conspicuous for his hard work and charitable hours and for the record, I don't recall ever scoffing... but then I don't ever recall attesting to any particular player's sainthood either. I don't think I'm likely to taste any crow here based on a $50k add-on to a wrongful dismissal suit. But you never know. Like I said earlier, ask Shawn Oakman about this stuff. Or, as I trust that most people around here are men of middle age or more, I find it difficult to believe that nobody here has an acquaintance who went through an acrimonious divorce where allegations were made. These things happen in lawsuits. They are common leveraging tools. And the tell is that usually the civil suit is filed and no criminal one is. Because if there's a criminal suit, it always makes the civil one a tap-in.

  28. TBF, some of their players weren't actually scouted by them. Stiggers, for example, was not discovered by their scouts. He happened to play in the Fan Controlled league for an old Argo Assistant (John Jenkins) who told Toronto about him. I'm sure this happens for every team to some extent though - you're not going to be able to see everyone so it pays to have connections.

  34. The Alouettes’ 48-13 destruction of the Bombers proved if there was any lingering doubt about the former’s vulnerability, it was premature at best. Meanwhile, it was a stark reminder of just how bad the Bombers, now 7-10 in a wildly uneven season, can be on any given Sunday. And that doesn’t just include the offence — or the players, either. Because no sooner had the stinkage settled than Winnipeg rookie head coach Mike Kelly decided it would be the perfect time to remind all those fans he’s alienated during his rocky tenure why they’re not buying tickets anymore — and proceed to tear into Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Irving on CJOB’s post-game show. Kelly was apparently angered by the attempts of Irving and colour man Mitch Zalnasky to explain why the Bombers could be so flat and ineffective. Perhaps they were looking ahead to the Nov. 8 regular-season finale death-match with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. “I’m tellin’ ya, we were focused in on this game and that’s the only thing we were focused in on,” Kelly snapped. “It’s just media bullshit talking about anything else.” When Irving mildly protested, “it just didn’t look like you were focused, I’m not saying you weren’t focused,” a peeved Kelly spat: “Don’t tell me we were or were not focused. This team came out and played. Period.” Then Kelly hung up. Irving was speechless. Talk about getting your panties in a ball. Irving called Kelly’s tirade “juvenile” and “rude” and perhaps the worst interview he’s had in almost four decades on the air. Kelly reverts to vulgar self – Winnipeg Free Press

  35. This is my point, we can't call the guy a scumbag criminal when so little of the facts is known. Same goes with the club. Unless he has admitted guilt.

  36. I don’t think we have any sex pests like Chad Kelly or any overall assholes, but one of our best players definitely doesn’t make good life choices all the time. Not that it’s an issue, I’m just saying it’s not unique to other teams

  37. Didn’t we employ a guy who tried to drown his wife in a bathtub? Isn’t one of our star players a guy who makes sure he isn’t super thirsty before he drives a car?

  39. Excuse me, serious question: what victim? And who said that they ought to be shamed? This is a wrongful termination suit with a side of a sensationalized accusation to whip the press (and apparently internet forums) into a frenzy before evidence and judgement. And why would the accused be named and subjected to trial by press except for the purpose of shaming them into accepting a settlement (much as was done once before against the Argos)? This serves the accuser's legal strategy just fine, as was always the intent. Give me a bit of credit for being a decent human please. And your comment about the side of truth is just so offside here. And support what victim? And this is why trial by media for a wrongful termination suit is ideal for the accuser. Yahtzee.
    1 point
  40. Complainants are not entitled to a presumption of truth. The system is actually in place to allow for presumption of innocence and places a burden of proof on the accuser. I agree that naming the alleged victim can lead to pre-judgment and shaming, but naming a potential accused does the same thing (as some of the comments here have already demonstrated).

    Game 56 vs Desert Dogs

I said 5 on 5. They appear to be a bit of a mystery tho. Don’t do much 5 on 5 at all but win games in OT and score on the pp all of a sudden. PP improves. 5 on 5 play gets worse. It’s not dead on arrival. It’s facts. They don’t do **** 5 on 5 and do things that get others benched.
