  1. Not only that but Fajardo is a master at placing the ball where he cannot be intercepted. Can't be caught by his receivers either but I try to look at the positive.

  2. Today’s selection features two of the most under appreciated and unfairly maligned Bombers in recent memory. Both helped turn the club from a poor sister into a contender and ultimately a champion. Both also embraced the city and were true givers back to this community, both in spirit and in charitable contributions. Class people, leaders, winners, Grey Cup champions. Matt Nichols and Paul LaPolice.

  3. So, I wanted to post this from DT because I'm pretty vocal about my support for all things "Canada", especially when it comes to the CFL. I know we're not all on the same page with this, but I thought it was a really good tweet thread from DT, and because not everyone is on Twitter, I wanted to share it here...

  6. One thing I've been thinking about is the lack (??) of Canadians who play football at a high enough level in this country, overall, and what happens if we add a team in the Maritimes? Then all of a sudden you need ____ number of Canadians to fill out that roster, as well. I know that's a "tomorrow problem" but still something to think about. Do we have enough Canadians of high enough quality to fill out 10 rosters in this country? Don't get me wrong, I'm always going to advocate for Canadians in the CFL...that's my priority, personally........but it's something I think about.

In June of 2021, Pallister's approval rating was 33% according to Angus Reid. Heather is at 25%. Can't blame it on Pallister. Comments like "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda", heartless talking about your son's hockey team winning a championship when asked about a woman dying that happened during your tenure as Health Minister, multiple ethics violations likely contributed to it.

She had an easy opportunity to raise her and her party's popularity and she failed at it spectacularly. She gave in to the right wingnuts and that's why her popularity is so low. I don't disagree that the unpopularity of her party isn't helping her, but she's not doing herself any favours either.

  13. For me, it's the complexity of the proposal and no in-game repercussions for breaking the rule. There are coaches in this league that will abuse this. Jones for one.

  14. Listen, I believe in the ratio and don't really want to see it changed. We can agree to disagree on that. There have been a few versions of the CBA so far, I don't think we can really debate specific clauses because I don't think we really know for sure what was voted on and why or why not it was voted down. The only one I remember seeing that 7+1 was one was the snap percentages - which is really 5.5 nationals, not 7. But again, I don't think it makes sense to debate it too much, it's all hearsay. Mike made the point that there's a faction of players who don't come here because it's not worth the attempt to come here and compete for one spot - I honestly don't believe that changes too much even if we completely abandon the ratio. We have 20 DBs here to compete for 1 or 2 spots - that doesn't change because of the ratio. We have a bunch of receivers here to compete for 1 or 2 spots. Do we have a ton more guys making the trip for 2 or 3 spots? The trip to Canada to play in a different league will always turn a large group of Americans away. The same way hockey players will move on rather than go to the KHL. We may see a few back end of roster spots improve because of more options - but I can't see a way it vastly improves the game, and it costs us an identity that - while you disagree with - IS important to many fans.

  15. Interested to hear the leagues business pitch and revenue growth seen from having 1-3 extra American players on the field at a time. This whole thing is ridiculous. There’s basically nothing wrong with the ratio the way it has been aside from potentially discouraging teams from developing Canadian QB’s. Not sure why this is the fight the BOG wants to take all the way to risk a season.

  16. This is what needs to be done rather than cutting taxes on gas (Alberta). Use the funds that the ultra-rich are benefitting from to support increased prices rather than taking it out of public coffers and encouraging more use of a limited resource. Do not understand how people anyone outside the upper class celebrate less money going into public funds like education property tax rebate (Manitoba) and gas tax cut (Alberta) when there is no plan to replace the funds.

You put the blame on Pallister but she took over a party that was unpopular and managed to get a level of approval that was lower despite the fact that new leaders generally get a popularity bump. She has been an absolute failure.

  22. And maybe that's something you can negotiate if another team enters the league, because it's creating more overall jobs so you need less per team. But that is still pie in the sky, imo.

Bah flames were a paper tiger all year. People massively over rated their defense. Markstrom is streaky in his own right and Johnny hockey cries for mommy when things get tough.

  24. Any word on the merger with XFL? That will save the league too. Maybe, we should be moving some of these teams to the US? Cheaper there.

My favourite Liotta performance was as Henry Hill in Goodfellas. That movie is just so good and stands up today. He was just ridiculous in it. My favourite movie that Liotta was in is Field of Dreams. The image of Shoeless Joe Jackson in my head, is actually of Ray.

  30. I think for the last 15 years of going on here (and Ourbombers) that every pre season camp SOMEBODY looks fantastic and awesome... only for them to be cut and the folks on here to be shocked that he didn't make it but some no name other person has. I'm assuming Saunders was cut because he's older and the others showed as much (or if not more) and the new guys have a much higher ceiling without a history of injuries.

  33. now tell me again there was no 7+1....straight from the original CBA ....the second bolded part of your retort is whats on table now...so yes....massive backfire by the members when voting it down....not sure what u not seeing The new CBA provides an opportunity for veterans to negotiate partially guaranteed contracts. The CFL had initially rejected guaranteed deals. • The ratio has been increased to starting eight Canadians, from seven. However, one of the national spots will go to an American who has at least three years of experience with the same team or five years in the league. The move is designed to address roster turnover, which has been a complaint among fans.

Interesting article Japan has one of the lowest rates of gun crime in the world. In 2014 there were just six gun deaths, compared to 33,599 in the US. What is the secret? If you want to buy a gun in Japan you need patience and determination. You have to attend an all-day class, take a written exam and pass a shooting-range test with a mark of at least 95%. There are also mental health and drugs tests. Your criminal record is checked and police look for links to extremist groups. Then they check your relatives too - and even your work colleagues. And as well as having the power to deny gun licences, police also have sweeping powers to search and seize weapons. That's not all. Handguns are banned outright. Only shotguns and air rifles are allowed. The law restricts the number of gun shops. In most of Japan's 40 or so prefectures there can be no more than three, and you can only buy fresh cartridges by returning the spent cartridges you bought on your last visit. The result is a very low level of gun ownership - 0.6 guns per 100 people in 2007, according to the Small Arms Survey, compared to 6.2 in England and Wales and 88.8 in the US. "The moment you have guns in society, you will have gun violence but I think it's about the quantity," says Overton. "If you have very few guns in society, you will almost inevitably have low levels of violence." Japanese police officers rarely use guns and put much greater emphasis on martial arts - all are expected to become a black belt in judo. They spend more time practising kendo (fighting with bamboo swords) than learning how to use firearms. "The response to violence is never violence, it's always to de-escalate it. Only six shots were fired by Japanese police nationwide [in 2015]," https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-38365729

  41. All sides involved are responsible and have equally $%&* the bed. The CFL for the strong man threatening tactics to start, the CFLPA for agreeing to a deal they couldn't sell to the players, both for waiting till soo damn late to get serious about negotiations, no hands are clean in this. Agree with your 2nd point. Honestly I couldn't stand to watch too many NFL games for a very long time. But they have blown past college, and the cfl in terms of innovation and creativity. Watching the CFL has become like watching two guys play chess using the exact same strategy and tactics.

  42. the CBA they voted down...to refresh....was for 7 Canadian starters....same as before and an 8th one...who was a naturalized american...and.....u could have up to 3 more....if u wanted to/were able to....take additional reps for a Canadian starter up to a max amount...essentially allowing you to rotate more freely....would preserve players more, and yes...prob make every team stronger....and the guy on our roster who would have been not dressing...would have been maybe Krahmda...Hallett...Oleary Orange or whoever that guy was that started before him.....any one of our special teamers or back ups for that matter...not a starter....but now...seeing as they poo pooed the CBA...yup....maybe a Thomas...or whoever was going to replace Desjarlais will loose the starting spot...so a major eff up by the membership now...as there will be no going back and they essentially lost a Canadian spot...so its accept and play...or dont...and not get payed....nothing like painting yourself in a corner for no real good reason
