  1. Why do we always end up picking 9th every year??? Come on Kyle!! Oh...right...

  2. One of Dobson or Eli would be a huge add. Would be nice to know for the draft but that's life in the CFL.

  4. No. 9 - Zack Pelehos Winnipeg Blue Bombers PROSPECT INFO POSITION OL SCHOOL Ottawa HEIGHT 6-5 WEIGHT 296 lbs Pelehos is another lineman whose stock rose after the CFL combine. The Gananoque, Ont., native flashed a good combination of size and athleticism, measuring as the fourth tallest player and running the fastest 40-yard time among all offensive linemen. Pelehos was named a 2021 OUA First-Team All-Star. Last season's starter, Drew Desjarlais, signed an NFL contract with the New England Patriots and the defending Grey Cup champions could look to Pelehos to fill the void in the offensive line. No. 18 - Keaton Bruggeling Winnipeg Blue Bombers PROSPECT INFO POSITION WR SCHOOL Carleton HEIGHT 6-3 WEIGHT 212 lbs The Blue Bombers add another big-bodied wideout after Kenny Lawler, last season’s leading receiver, signed with the Elks. The St. Catharines, Ont., native also adds another Canadian receiver to the Bombers’ roster, joining Nik Demski, Drew Wolitarsky, and Brendan O’Leary-Orange. Also, Our Man Tait's draft preview...good stuff, as always. https://www.bluebombers.com/2022/05/02/2022-draft-preview/

  6. The fact that Eli hasn't been signed by any team should probably indicate he's not going to be. I'll be blown away if he's playing in the CFL this year.

  7. He couldn't sign the contract because he couldn't get a work visa. I would say it's null and void.

First in career losses. Only managed 92 playoff games in 23 seasons behind the bench. 41-51 in the playoffs. One Stanley Cup appearance. 16-23 with the Jets. Managed to get out of the first round twice. If we're giving Chevy an extension, then it can't be the players he brought in. Must have been bad coaching.

Coaching has been bad and Chevy is responsible for that. It's been really bad. The last head coach had to fire himself. Not sure how Chevy gets a pass on the abysmal coaching that Winnipeg has had.

GM is also responsible for hiring the coach, so the buck ultimately has to stop at Chevy. Having said that, I'm fine with the extension. I think Chevy has done a good job at the draft and filling in pieces through free agency when needed. He has also done a good job signing players like Helle, Connor, Morrissey to long term deals. Navigated issues with Trouba and Kane through trades (people can try and blame Chevy on these, but this is a reality any GM in Winnipeg is going to have to deal with). I also think this is Chevy's last crack at a coach and a mini over haul of the roster, if you believe the turmoil and trade requests that are coming. If Chevy can't make this team competitive within the next couple of years (need to at least make the playoffs next year), then it is time for a new GM and a complete rebuild.

It's not just the GM's responsibility for a team to be successful, though. That falls on the coaches and players, some of whom have already paid the price. His primary duties are to draft and manage the roster and salary cap. What's been mediocre about either?

Missed the playoffs two of the last three seasons. He's won 3 playoff series in 11 seasons. Given the comments by Statsny, PLD etc, the culture is poor. I'd argue all of those things means he's done a mediocre job. Only GMs with their clubs for a longer period are Armstrong (won a cup) and Poile (at least made it to a finals).

  20. Same. I also wonder if it effects Eli. I could see them having been waiting him out to get him on as cheap a deal as possible. If they can get him on a min or close to it, and Dobson comes up this year, plus the possibility that Desjarlais gets cut that's all gotta play in heavily. I also think we will be inclined towards gambling on a lotto ticket pick who has NFL options, not just for the upside but for financial savings just like with dobson last year.

It's totally not an equitable situation in the NHL. Only thing he can really control is drafting and who he hires for coaching.

That's right. 7th in career wins in NHL history, youngest coach ever to 500 wins. If you are judging coaching strictly by Stanley Cup wins you are going to label a LOT of very good coaches as being poor. This isn't the CFL where you have 9 teams and you're bound to win one if you are a good coach. Tons of good coaches never win a Stanley Cup. It is very difficult to do so...just ask the Toronto Maple Leafs.

    Restaurant/food thread

I cannot tell you how many times I've driven by the Wendy's on Plessis and have seen the drive thru wrapped around with cars going back to Regent. And this is even during odd hour times like 10 pm at night. The area is still heavily into burgers and french fries. The whole side of town has some options but it's very limited... it's sad that the fancy Italian place is considered the Olive Garden lol, the top Vietnamese restaurant is a donut store, Henderson Hwy has basically nothing but fried chicken places etc.... Compared to when I'm at work (Polo Park and Kenaston area) in which they have multiple options for each style of cuisine.

    Restaurant/food thread

Living in the same area.... that area of town desperately needs less fast food, greasy spoon, or generic white people food (i.e. Perkins/Applebees/Boston Pizza) restaurants and sure can use a Thai, Greek, or Italian restaurant. Fixed that for you Rae's is really good but have really over priced themselves and they removed the kids menu when ownership changed. The last time I went they had a plate of Yam Fries as a daily special and it was $14 dollars... that's insane.

Apparently is has to do with the lingering aftereffects of the infection- reduced attention span, impaired memory, chronic fatigue and so forth. Several people I know are coping with this, and if you return to a demanding job, mistakes will be made.
