  1. Randall is a guy who could eventually fill the role left by stove. Similar extreme physical talent in a nose prospect, stove has a much higher football IQ and top tier drive to improve. That said, for a guy to miss 2 years of ncaa football due to academic issues, over come that and come back more dominant than ever says a lot about his work ethic and character. The bombers scout DTs extremely well. Randall might be raw but he could be a real gem. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/kenny-randall/32005241-4e08-2192-6dba-6a4dfb6f5379 Johnson is an extremely talented guy who had some injury issues. He also has tons and tons of heart. He played both ways a bunch as a senior.

  2. Once Musk has control, Twitter will eventually turn into the thing Trump was trying to create on his own, but of course was unable. I love Twitter...it's my favourite of all social media platforms, and when curated properly, it's a wonderful resource. But I'm very concerned for its future.

We moved to just south of Calgary to see our grandkids grow up and for the better (theoretically) weather. We found that it was more expensive to live there, and the warmer weather produced a lot of icy sidewalks where the wife slipped and fell, breaking her wrist. But most of all, we missed the blue-collar attitude of Winnipeg, the friends we had and the easy familiarity of living in a well-known community. Hell I missed all the trees and seeing clouds- the view of the mountains was nice but seeing the grass turning brown by the end of July was weird. The moves cost us a lot, but the relief we felt when we spent the first night and woke up in the morning in our Manitoba home was palpable. We found out that the imagining of a better place can be more a fantasy than a reality. We are home now.

I continue to wear my mask where I see fit regardless of what other people are doing. I walk around like I would usually walk around in public trying to be a well adjusted human being and when I have my mask on I smile with my eyes instead of my mouth.

  5. Will only two preseason games and all the evaluation that needs to be done in those two games, I don't think it would work. Yes, I don't think the NFL is more exciting than the CFL, just more exciting than NFL games 10 years ago.

  7. Agree....TSN has to way up its game....sub par at best....half the excitement and interest in the NFL game is all the glitz and glam and bells and whistles...If u put a CFL game in front of that production and how they do a game, it would look/seem like a world of difference....thats a fact.....The league too, needs to hire, or create a content/marketing team of the new breed of Internet wizards, and promote and pump and create new and eye catching content...thats what will grow the league....not changing rules, paying global guys a pittance...and always bemoaning issues in media....maybe promote and add fluff...theres a thought Rules have been basically what they are for a century....and game was/is just fine...u dont do wholesale change...you augment what you have....maybe add to it...it's not rocket science

  8. as a whole the NFL hasnt been more exciting....but the games that have been exciting are basically due to a lot of it being teams more apt to mimicking what CFL offences did wit QB's and having a more wide open mindset offensively

  12. GCN20 said " disagree that most serious hunters use bolt action, many favor it due to long range accuracy, but many hunters are taught that semi auto is a more ethical choice by many hunter safety instructors. Serious shooters for target practice won't, but many hunters do favor semi auto. I used to guide for goose, bear and deer and the mix was at least 50/50 of what people used. I can tell you with certainty that semi auto shotguns are heavily favored by serious We will have to agree to disagree. Perhaps it's the group I used to hang with. We were serious hunters/ shooters. Not a semi auto center fire in anyones gun cabinet. Several of them were guides ( big game in northern BC ) several were rifle club instructors and some taught Hunters Safety. Several have now moved into the super long range shooting now. ( 50 cal stuff ) Never have I heard of a hunter Saftey instructor say use a semi- auto centerfire. It's in no way more ethical. Less accurate equals more wounded and more ruined meat. If you cant hit what you shoot at , you need to shoot more targets and not take shots that you know wont kill. Over a year I would fire thousands of rounds ( not an exaggeration) so like I said maybe it was the group I hung with. As far as semi auto shotguns , yes perhaps more are used than I believe but I've seen way, way to many have issues when used in adverse conditions. Almost everyone I shot birds with used pumps. As far as modifying guns , my only personal experience was glass bedding , filing trigger mechanisms to reduce trigger pull, and a few other minor things for better accuracy. I did have friends of made full autos out of semis but they were rediculously inaccurate and unmanageable. They scraped them fairly quickly. Many built wildcat calibers but I never got into it. I will add this bit to end my discussion. The last 15 years I hunted deer were my best. I decided to hunt alone. That is when in my opinion I became an elite deer hunter. I watched them. I studied them. Most evenings I just watched. I learned more about deer then than in all my previous years. I'd kill 3 a year for food. Most were standing shots. All but one were one shot kills. My biggest problem those last 15 years were the Yahoo's driving around shooting off the roads at deer on my property and towards me or our buildings.

  13. Some people seem to think that more scoring makes the game more exciting for the casual fans. In my mind the biggest issue with the CFL is marketing. The teams, the league, and their TV partner (currently TSN) need to do a better job with marketing. Bell Media could use CTV to advertise CFL games on TSN to get the word out more, but the biggest issue is that the teams in the bigger markets aren't doing anything to draw people to the games. Perhaps the new owner in BC will do a better job out there, but Toronto and Montreal are still big question marks. The rule changes, especially the thought of going to 4 downs, are mostly gimmicky and don't help the core problem of marketing, or lack thereof.

  16. Single game day seats for the Stamps are $80 to sit on the 30 yard line up high. Or thereabouts. Who wants to spend over $300 for a family of 4 to attend? Then there's food & drinks. Slap down another $70 for that. People aren't dumb. They'll just stay home & watch it on TV. I talked to the Stamps Ticket Manager about prices a few years ago. He didn't think the single game day prices were too high. I suggested the Stamps do what the Bombers do. Offer 3 & 4 game Flex Packs where fans can buy the same seat for games they want to see. He just laughed & said no. And so, the Stamps sit stuck at 22,000 people attending per game with 13,000 seats on average sitting empty for every game. It's like CFL teams just ignore the fact that every game is now televised & fans have a choice to go or not. That & the game day experience at McMahon Stadium isn't very good. People have tailgates but they're private affairs. People just can't walk up to a random group of fans, say hello & start drinking & eating the other fans food. The other thing I need to mention is that because of my arthritis & mobility issues as I walk with a cane & have balance problems, going to McMahon Stadium to watch a game has now become impossible. Climbing up & down stairs with no handrails over 50 rows is something I no longer can do. I'm slower than most fans so I'd have to wait until the stadium has cleared out before I could navigate the stairs. Afraid of stumbling & falling. Hard to get to concession s all in the concourse at the bottom of the stadium. No elevators or escalators. No thanks. IG Field has concessions in the upper deck & elevators to get back & forth from the seats I purchased. And I don't have to climb any more than 15 rows to get to my seats & the steps have handrails. I also have handicap parking in Sec U si I just have to cross the street. Calgary is stuck with an aging 62 year old stadium that needs replacing. It was state of the art when JFK was President & the Beach Boys were topping the charts with songs about surfing. But going to a game in Winnipeg over Calgary is eye opening. McMahon Stadium is a dump. More fans are staying away because of it. I'll never go there to another game.

    Covid-19

What really bothers me about this is very, very few politicians, etc.. believe all the BS. Almost all of them understand how vaccinations and the vaccination of the vast majority against not only Covid but all contagious diseases are the key to the health and well being of people, countries and the world. But they sell their soul for power, money and popularity.

When Donald Trump himself boasts about grabbing women by the……we all know the quote……and it does not move the needle on his campaign, this is a nothingburger for his supporters. Honestly, the only Republican value it seems is left for the majority of the party is “own the Libs and seize power”. Democrats should just accept this and stop trying to placate, take the same attitude of “bury the Republicans” and be confident that you have the voter numbers to do so.

  20. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed defensive tackle Kenneth Randall. The six-foot-two, 302-pound Randall played his NCAA career at the University of Charleston with the Golden Eagles. He earned first-team All-Mountain East Conference honours in 2019 and finished his collegiate career with 64 tackles, seven sacks and two forced fumbles. Randall signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021 as an undrafted NFL free agent and attended the team’s training camp. The Blue Bombers also signed offensive lineman Leon Johnson. The six-foot-five, 332-pound Johnson spent four years at Temple University with the Owls. He made 10 starts at left tackle during his senior season including the season-opener against Notre Dame in which he served as one of the team captains. Johnson started 14 games at right tackle during his junior year. Prior to signing with Winnipeg, Johnson signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted NFL free agent in 2018 and attended the team’s training camp. He signed with the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football for the 2019 season. Johnson would later go on to sign with the Calgary Stampeders in 2020 and saw action with one start in 2021.

  21. The question was asked aloud quite often, how long until we just go back to the way it was before? As early as May 1 is apparently the answer. Unless something changes between now and 8pm I finally get to see my first live rock show since the before-fore times, but I wouldn't be going if proof of vax wasn't required. I'm ready for things to open back up but requiring proof of vax at the door (and then actually enforcing it) is playing a big role in how and where I spend my money.

  22. I as well like the makeup of roster, and truly don't see us missing a beat. Harris was basically a part timer last year, and we did just fine, he had a big game against Sask in playoffs, but at his age, and declining durability those kinda games are going to be more the exception, than the norm....Our oline, returning players on offence and continuity from coaches down won't allow us to falter. Lawler was a stud, but also a 1 yr flash so far, Ellingson will more than replace what he brought (dude has a highlight reel of unreal catches too in case anyone forgot) and is familiar and has history with Zach, and I bet will be more consistent game in and game out....Bailey and Demski will keep developing and be better and this crop of new guys, along with Grant being back is a group that has me more intrigued/excited than any yr in a long time. Prukopp be no means a proven veteran, but he has shown he can move a offence, has experience, and I can see being a better fit in what we do here, moreso than McGuire did....tho loved McGuires arm and poise, but that wasnt a pre-requisite of what we do here, so I think that why he kinda just flamed out. Defensively, I think we again be just fine...Full yr of Wilson/Biggie/Maston already has us ahead of the ball even with Stove missing, but Sayles I see as a breakout star this year, and finding a gap filling DT to rotate in for 30% snaps isnt a tough thing to do...the loss that stings most is Kongbo and the rotation aspect we can do with him, and if he finally just commits to CFL he can be a beast, and ratio plus...I dont see him sticking down south, and if/when he is released, I bet this is where he comes back to....BA will be a loss till he back, but we have guys on roster now that seem to be a fit, maybe we tweak ratio a bit and go canadian there till he back, but with Rose, Taylor, Nichols and Glass here...all proven starters, and guys like Houston, and Miller back, both with full yr in our system, and some starts, and again...another strong solid group being brought in to compete...we ahead of where we were already from last year...and Free Agency/Draft hasnt even happened And when I look at a defense with the Jeff's...Biggie...Wilson...Rose, Maston and Nichols running around out there, I'm not to concerned with whom we surround them with...especially when it woill be guys like Sayles, Taylor, Thomas, Glass and whoever wins a spot...we hitting ground running for sure this yr

Newly Formed Liberal Party Trounces Incumbent Trump Fan in Slovenia Election -Getty A newcomer party to Slovenia’s general election walked away with a landslide victory on Sunday, beating the country’s populist prime minister by an unanticipatedly wide margin. With more than 97 percent of ballots counted, officials said the liberal Freedom Movement—formed in January—had won roughly 34 percent of the vote, while Prime Minister Janez Janša’s conservative Slovenian Democratic party trailed with around 24 percent support. The Freedom Movement’s leader, former executive Robert Golob, addressed the victory in a video message. “People really want change,” he said. “Today people are dancing, but tomorrow a new day begins. Tomorrow we’ll start working hard.” The party is expected to form the next government in coalition with smaller liberal parties. Its agenda, according to Golob, includes bolstering health care and transitioning to green energy. Jansa, a 63-year-old populist veteran and avowed Donald Trump fan, conceded the loss and congratulated the “relative winner” of the race in a speech, according to the Associated Press. “The results are as they are,” he said. “Many challenges lie ahead for the new government, whatever it may look like, but the foundations are solid.”

  29. Do they have some kind of study or research in which they spoke with non CFL fans in Canada who said "I would only watch if it were 4 downs" Because this sounds like a non existent issue? I know from my circle of friends/acquaintances is that the reason they don't watch CFL is because they don't like football at all OR they feel that the quality of football is significantly lower then the NFL and/or they only have time to follow one league. I've never had a conversation with anyone saying "I sure wish CFL was 4 downs".

  38. One of my favourite Blue Bomber player. Middle Linebacker Phil Minnick #54 chasing down Ti Cats Halfback D i c k Cohee during the 1965 Grey Cup. A bad knee injury early in the 1970 season required Minnick to miss nearly two full seasons as well as having played on some very bad football teams after this Grey Cup appearance prevented Minnick from being mentioned as one of the CFL Elites at the middle linebacker position. Had he stayed healthy & played on competitive Bomber teams, I believe he'd have been mentioned with players of his era like Jerry "Soupy" Campbell, Mark Kosmos, Don Bahnuik, Ray Nettles & Wayne Harris.

    Top 5 Bomber QBs

Jeezus, that was 39 years ago. Brock said in his book that he was wrong & wished he had stayed in Winnipeg. As a fan, I have no ill will towards Brock at all. Also, he played in an era where the Eskimos had the greatest run in CFL history winning 5 Grey Cups in a row. We were very good as a team but they always were a little better.

  41. Not claiming to have the answer to Twitter, not even saying Musk should buy it, or would do a better job at it. I don't think anyone can (including the state). Moderating a board like this, which is really a relatively low effort most of the time, is still a huge pain in the ass, and for the most part thankless. No matter what you do or don't do, there are people who aren't happy and complain, and think you are wrong. I couldn't imagine trying to come up with the rules and algorithms to try and moderate something like Twitter. Humans aren't evolved to have the ability to have faceless, anonymous communication with so many people that Twitter brings.

There is no precedent for the reach and impact that social media has and I don't think we have at all figured out as a society how to deal with its impact.
