  1. I’m a pretty open guy when it comes to change, but this would absolutely undoubtedly kill what the CFL represents and I would NOT be in favour of supporting it. In fact if that happened I would no longer support the CFL. The league may have its issues but having three downs is not one of them.

You're going to have to start citing sources if you want to be taken seriously. While cattle contribute methane to the atmosphere, no one has ever said that MOST methane comes from cattle. You can't complain about people "playing politics" when you are repeating ridiculous political talking points.

Myth #1: Electric vehicles are worse for the climate than gasoline cars because of the power plant emissions. FACT: Electric vehicles typically have a smaller carbon footprint than gasoline cars, even when accounting for the electricity used for charging. Electric vehicles (EVs) have no tailpipe emissions. Generating the electricity used to charge EVs, however, may create carbon pollution. The amount varies widely based on how local power is generated, e.g., using coal or natural gas, which emit carbon pollution, versus renewable resources like wind or solar, which do not. Even accounting for these electricity emissions, research shows that an EV is typically responsible for lower levels of greenhouse gases (GHGs) than an average new gasoline car. To the extent that more renewable energy sources like wind and solar are used to generate electricity, the total GHGs associated with EVs could be even lower. Learn more about electricity production in your area. EPA and DOE’s Beyond Tailpipe Emissions Calculator can help you estimate the greenhouse gas emissions associated with charging and driving an EV or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) where you live. You can select an EV or PHEV model and type in your zip code to see the CO2 emissions and how they stack up against those associated with a gasoline car. Myth #5: Electric vehicles are worse for the climate than gasoline cars because of battery manufacturing. FACT: The greenhouse gas emissions associated with an electric vehicle over its lifetime are typically lower than those from an average gasoline-powered vehicle, even when accounting for manufacturing. Some studies have shown that making a typical electric vehicle (EV) can create more carbon pollution than making a gasoline car. This is because of the additional energy required to manufacture an EV’s battery. Still, over the lifetime of the vehicle, total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with manufacturing, charging, and driving an EV are typically lower than the total GHGs associated with a gasoline car. That’s because EVs have zero tailpipe emissions and are typically responsible for significantly fewer GHGs during operation (see Myth 1 above). For example, researchers at Argonne National Laboratory estimated emissions for both a gasoline car and an EV with a 300-mile electric range. In their estimates, while GHGs from EV manufacturing are higher (shown in blue below), total GHGs for the EV are still lower than those for the gasoline car. https://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/electric-vehicle-myths

Internal combustion engines are extremely inefficient compared to electric. Using Ice....its like going to a restaurant, ordering a meal, and throwing 2/3 of it in the trash, eating 1/3. Oilco got to love that. When you spend 100 dollars to fill your tank, maybe 30.00 of your cash propels your car. The rest... heat, and smoke. (Greenhouse gases, and many other toxic substances, which are a big public health problem) any argument about which is better is preposterous. and as far as this being the only environemtal issue discussed..... It is the mother of all issues... And is the only thing, staring us right in the face, (aside from nuclear war) which if not checked, will completely change the world, permanently, (as far as humanity is concerned) and definitely not... for the better. surprising number of people here who dont understand this. It has been explained, in ways anyone can understand, many times.

  14. The biggest concern is quality of care. Private clinics would likely have the opportunity to pay their employees (doctors/nurses etc) more than a publicly funded one. Meaning the best doctors etc would only be available to those who could afford to pay for them...and if it starts snowballing eventually you're left with a public system that is over worked, understaffed and under qualified. Even if the public system is well funded it likely won't be able to compete with a free market. I had a family friend who moved south a few decades ago because she got a job offer from a hospital in chicago to do the same job but doubled her salary (I actually believe it was a bit more than doubled) and payed for the moving expenses including their rent until they found a house they liked. Now obviously that anecdotal but it's the premise people worry about.

As the current olympic quadrennial comes to a close, virtually every team on tour is breaking up. They'll reassemble in the fall for a new quadrennial. Couldn't care less what happens to most teams, but very curious about the Manitoba ones. Both Fleury and Jones teams have announced they're disbanding, and Einar's team will have something to say after the Worlds, I'm sure. As for the men, I can't wait for the McEwen/Carruthers experiment to finally come to and end. Not sure what'll happen next, but we need something good in this province. Koe's team announced their break up today, so I wonder if BJ Neufeld comes home again. Matt Dunstone, Colton Lott, Kyle Doering....all exceptional young Manitoba curlers who I'd love to see competing, seriously, out of Manitoba. We'll see soon....

I don't know what the right answer is, but I'm hoping they have the "summit" that's being talked about, with the WCF, CCA, players and broadcasters (all "stakeholders") participating. Get to the bottom of how to fix the season, from the Tour to the Provincials/Nationals.

  26. I have mixed feelings about this game: 1. the Jets ****-kicking Vegas is ever so satisfying 2. If Vegas misses the playoff while being 10M over the cap... LOL all day long and they can F*** off 3. Though I would never cheer against the Jets, I don't mind seeing them lose to sell at the deadline. 4. I just don't see how it benefits the Jets long term to hold on to Copp and Stats... only to finish 9th in the west this year (or 8th with the prize of 4 games against Colorado)... I'd rather see those guys get traded and have assets to show for them since they are both extremely unlikely to be back next year... 5. Keeping them to fight for a playoff spot just helps the Jets remain a middling team

For me, it's a VERY small ask to maintain protections (mitigation measures) to protect the most vulnerable among us who might actually die. Wearing a mask is the most innocuous, basic thing I could so to protect someone who's immunocompromised and could die, even after being vaccinated. I'm perfectly fine with any and all measures they want to implement. Vaxx passports shouldn't have been abandoned... They should have been made stricter.

  34. Despite the heat they taken this year, Wheeler is on pace for 13G-52A-65P in 67 games as a 35 year old, and Scheifele in an off-year 32G-41A-73P in 76 games, and both had COVID. No, they are not defensive players, but they are paid to be scorers and at a point per game pace they aren’t as big a salary liability as some might think.

  42. Not like they once did. But they do. Really it's not a position you draft For nearly as much. Which means vets recirculate more. Check how many krs have tds in the nfl then come up here. An easy way is looking at cfl return men with nfl xp and check for tds. It's a tiny group I don't think any currently in the league. Once you break one you have camp invites for as long as you want. He's made over 2mil in the nfl. What kind of offer do you think it'll take 250k or more? He also becomes a prime candidate for the usfl too. It'd give him a chance to play right after in the nfl. At 30 a cfl contract is a career move. Meanwhile he qualifies for an NFL pension. Iirc the difference between 3 years of service and 5 years is 70k to 120k a year with the Max of 210 ish after 7. I don't see an incentive for him to come up north this year.

I find it disheartening that someone like Obby Khan who appears to be reasonably intelligent, would first run for a party that has a long history of racial intolerance and then parroting a catchphrase synonymous with a disgraced premier who fumbled the pandemic responses so as to not alienate his core supporters whose shoe sizes are roughly similar to their IQs.
