    Covid-19

I find it disheartening that someone like Obby Khan who appears to be reasonably intelligent, would first run for a party that has a long history of racial intolerance and then parroting a catchphrase synonymous with a disgraced premier who fumbled the pandemic responses so as to not alienate his core supporters whose shoe sizes are roughly similar to their IQs.

    Covid-19

Facts matter. Just because some people are bored with Covid and just want to move on, that does not mean it's not going to return. I guarantee within a few months, our elected officials are going to be up there failing to explain why we're back under lockdowns and the hospitals are being overwhelmed. "Woulda, coulda, shoulda" is their answer.

  5. I almost wish the Jets were 10+ pts out of the playoff picture. With them now being only 4 points behin, management might start thinking this is a playoff team. Anyways I don't think the Jets will make the playoffs and we need to retool for next year. Perfetti has shown he's ready and it's too bad he got injured. I'd shop Copp and Stastny, and Beaulieu, although Copp's injury likely derailed any trade talk now.

  6. Not like they once did. But they do. Really it's not a position you draft For nearly as much. Which means vets recirculate more. Check how many krs have tds in the nfl then come up here. An easy way is looking at cfl return men with nfl xp and check for tds. It's a tiny group I don't think any currently in the league. Once you break one you have camp invites for as long as you want. He's made over 2mil in the nfl. What kind of offer do you think it'll take 250k or more? He also becomes a prime candidate for the usfl too. It'd give him a chance to play right after in the nfl. At 30 a cfl contract is a career move. Meanwhile he qualifies for an NFL pension. Iirc the difference between 3 years of service and 5 years is 70k to 120k a year with the Max of 210 ish after 7. I don't see an incentive for him to come up north this year.

  8. Personal faves nostalgia-wise are VJs, Super Boy's, The Burger Place, and Dairi-Wip. Contemporary faves are OGC, Rae's Bistro, and Junction 59. Not in Winnipeg but I gotta mention Nite Hawk Cafe out at West Hawk. The scene here in the city (and within the province) is simply awesome, with plenty of variety to suit almost any preference as far as burgers go.

Which greenhouse gas would you rather discuss? Methane maybe? Much more potent than co2. Sadly, also a byproduct of oil production. "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it." U. sinclair.

plastics are a good one, still a whole lot of deforestation going on in the world, there's all sorts of pollutants going into water ways. I just find the singular focus on environmental policy being climate change is a really, really narrow way to look at environmental issues.

You're right that the cases will spike again, you're wrong that anything will be "comprimised". The governments are done shutting anything down. Numbers will go up and down and people will just live with it.

I wouldn't be shocked if we're right back in the thick of another spike within the the next few weeks, to be honest. Easter Weekend could be compromised, IMO. I sincerely hope I'm way off but the last two years have my confidence all but shattered in the vast majority of our "leaders" in positions of power.

not sure anything. She'd said in her retirement post that she's looking forward to spending more time at the rink cheering him on. Said she might play some mixed doubles with him, but that he'd really have to convince her, as she's just not that interested in playing right now.

Mike is just kind of unbalanced. That's what I've learned. Reid is the calmer head that should be calling the game and throwing last rock, but I'm not sure Mike is capable of being in a subservient role. The sooner this team implodes, the better. It was never meant to be. Our best men's curler right now is Matt Dunstone, who is living in the BC interior now and skipping a bunch of knuckle dragging cousin fuckers from one province over. Colton Lott and Kyle Doering are really good, as well, and will be taking the leap soon, just not sure it'll be in Manitoba, unfortunately. Cathy and Ron Gauthier's son Jacques is going to be a really good one, as well. Fresh out of winning Manitoba juniors and will be a regular on tour very soon, I suspect. The issue is how many stay in MB to play full time, and how many leave to skip teams out of province. Make no mistake, Manitoba still produces the best curlers in the world as we always have.....it's just that Oly and WCT money move them elsewhere.

I agree. Also, the mining and smelting required for battery production will create massive environmental damage. Until the world can produce clean electricity and can find ways to eliminate the massive byproduct of pollution from mining, the EV is just replacing one set of problems for another. It's no magic bullet for the environment. Governments around the world need to stop putting the cart before the horse and invest climate change dollars in clean energy production before making spending dollars trying to force everyone to transition. Upgrades to electrical grids, the phasing out of dirty electricity need to happen ASAP and that s where the dollars need to go. I mean you can disagree if you like, but what part of producing dirty energy to power clean energy makes any sense whatsoever.

    Covid-19

Should have stopped after the first sentence. COVID doesn't care about countries or provinces. Denmark is 81% fully vaxxed with 88% of those eligible been vaxxed at least once. 4,746,722 of 5,828,401 fully vaxxed. Manitoba is 82.4% fully vaxxed. *"Fully vaxxed" means 2 doses. Population density argument goes out the window when you consider that most of Manitoba lives in Winnipeg.

    The RIP 2022 Thread

I saw Scott Hall iwrestle at the old Winnipeg Arena in early 1985 during his pre Razor Ramon days. He was this huge dude who looked like a body builder pushing 290 lbs. He wrestled Curt Hennig & defeated him. Most of the crowd had no idea who Hall was. He was all roided up. He really trimmed down when he wrestled as Razor Ramon. I knew about the shooting death in Florida. The guy was reaching for his gun so what was he supposed to do? he was never charged as I think it was viewed as self defense but it took a toll on his life afterward. 43. I'm not pointing fingers, but man it has gotta be exhausting being sour/angry/negative all the time about seemingly everything. I have faith in this regime because they haven't steered me wrong yet. I have faith in a raw kid who kicked 92% in CIS. I have faith in an American guy whose only real issue (apparently) was the angles of a much larger field. We have a whole camp to get it figured out and if they don't have someone they like, there are dozens and dozens of kickers out there that can be brought in.

  45. Believe that Lirim Hajrullahu would appreciate reading that comment after he was run out of Wpg a few years back, then to see many wanting him back last year.... Shake my head. Secondly, Marc Liegghio's university kicking was absolutely nothing to worry about, pretty damn good in my opinion and an excellent draft pick!!!! The young man needs this fan base to back him, rather than hear the boo birds come as is the case... Wow, its sad reading some of the stuff on here. Sometimes I think I'm in the green/white site... Lets not do what has been done before to the above kicker who is kicking in the NFL, today. Mourtada, well we need to be careful here. As has been said, he needs to make the adjustments and work on his craft. Definitely wasn't a Sergi but who knows he just may surprise us... I'm not giving up on him and for sure not going to crap on him as well. Sergi Castillo, well prior to Medlock, I liked him as a kicker when he was with us. He was good then and still is very good for our organization and looked like he was enjoying this time during the Grey Cup celebrations at the IG in December. The 2021 Grey Cup game was more than enough. I hope he does make his way back to the Wpg for the next couple years as our kicker. He's a keeper.... As far as our kicking situation in general, our management group, has had things in control for a few years now. Little is let out of the bag, until things are in place, i's are dotted and t's crossed before the fan base is made aware... We will be OK... Patience, I believe is required. I don't post often, but have been on this site for a while.. and read most of the material..... Just my two cents, for what ever that is worth
