  1. I’m going to take it as a positive and say there’s going to be a lot of tough decisions to make, and they want to get the young players an extended look.

  2. I'm going to be positive and say that hopefully we are all surprised on cutdown day.

  3. Yep. Ayers is my biggest worry. That kid has soo much potential, work ethic and desire. He makes plays few people in football can pull off. Be it on teams or D. We gotta keep polishing that kid. If he half fulfills what he’s capable of, he’s the best defensive player in the league. Idk how many times we’ve seen guys who are that level of disruptive, but it’s been really rare for us.

  4. Imagine posting these two things literally back to back lol “when people talk football here they take it WAY too serious but when i do it it’s just vibes bro” exactly one post after talking exactly the same way I talk when you complain This is how I feel. I would love to believe Kyrie staying home means he hasn’t made the team but what has our front office ever done that would suggest that?

  5. Cooley will get a lot of film anyways. Wouldn't mind if they gave Chris-Ike some reps at tailback as he might be backing up there.

  6. Guys, keep politics out of the thread. We’ve been so good for so long, please continue to abide by Rich’s wishes and forum rules. I’ve pruned a few posts to get us back on track.

  7. hey maybe we can get a group deal? Buy 2 get kola free? I mean that will knock any one out of commission for a while.

  8. Seems kind of strange to burry the second game with back ups, when the first game of the season is in week 2. I am glad a bunch of guys are gonna get some good reps, but if the majority of decisions are made, whats the point?

  9. I suspect J.Jones would end up as a DI if Wilson and T.Jones are the starters but Ayers being cut or put on the PR is a concern. Wilson should not have been brought back and T.Jones while he helped us last year is a JAG we got off the scrapheap last year. Hopefully MOS realizes this.

  10. In an interview yesterday, Novak said he has the option to go back to school if he doesn't make the team this year, but with the recent rule interpretation on draft picks, that doesn't guarantee he'll be invited back next season.

  11. I’m not too stressed on the vets staying home. They know exactly what they bring to the table. More time for the rookies to show they can play. Pretty much every team leaves some vets home for the road preseason game.

  12. I think Novak probably ends up on the PR. Maybe Smith too.

  13. Our QBs are set. Streveler is taking the lions share of the reps because he will be starting first game. Collaros takes reps because he isn't playing for weeks after. Wouldn't be surprised if Arto and Wilson get very limited reps or none at all. Like others have said, for some guys we know exactly what they bring and are being left home. Especially the guys on D. They don't need to get into a rhythm. Everyone else is getting more of a chance to put things on film

  14. I don't understand not grooming him more to be a RB, seems like we are lowering his ceiling. I really don't understand out moves at Lber. If Kyrie and Tjones were gonna be handed the starting jobs, why bring in Jjones? Give jones a signing bonus and bring him in to maybe DI and cut ayers? I don't think vaughters has out right won the position by play, but I also don't think any one has clearly out played him for it. The closest thing imo would be adams to DE with woods/pointer at dt to bump vaughters. But hes a better player than Kyrie at this point pretty easily.

  15. Jones was ok last season but let’s not pretend. He was better than washed up bighill but he really wasn’t that great. Dude missed plenty the tackles. If your American middle linebacker isn’t a bighill type impact guy and T Jones is not some all star middle linebacker then you should be looking forthe guy who can be. Maybe that’s Jon jones but likely it’s the younger Ayers. Swiss Army knife? That’s griffin and the Canadian we drafted.

  16. Subjective. Ayers has a strong hype train right now. Good special teamer last year. Started a couple games. Yeah looked good, not a ton of snaps. Certainly not a mainstay by any means. There's always 3-4 of these guys hanging on a team or in a camp. Lots of them never become impact guys. Both Jones guys are "scrap heap." J Jones had one really good year out of 3 in the CFL. Toronto didn't want to pay him more than rookie deal money. That's a tale old as time in the CFL. One team doesn't think a guy can perform to the money he's likely owed on a next contract, another team signs the guy and he's MODP of the whole league, or MOP if it's a QB. Guy could be an all-star, or junk. Wilson has been among the worst players on the field since he got injured in 2022. He's done. Griffin is getting on the roster IMO and he's not going to start in the secondary or at LB. He's going to be a Swiss army knife type guy and anchor on special teams. So that's who is more likely to squeeze Ayers off the roster with the current unsettled returner issue flipping the roster around a bit. Another issue is how many American receivers they decide to dress.

  17. If I was picking the roster....and looking at current and future value/use it would be Ayer's at Wil and J,Jones in the middle...and based if we want a legit dline front both Wilson and T.Jones pushed off....is that gonna happen tho?.... And to have 2 import tackles and an import end to go along with WJ/Vaughters/Lawson and the Global Bailey .. we gonna have to either not dress an extra import receiver/returner or some one like Parker or Griffin doesnt make active roster....which would be bad bad bad on many levels....I could go with the non import extra receiver but not having that 6th import DB we use so much would not be wise.....and If we gonna have Logan on at some point that leads me to believe Person or some other guy can't get on That doesn't even factor in the no ability to dress one of Wilson or T.Jones as an extra.....or J,Jones or Ayers if Osh leans to go with the vets who been here...which 99.9% I am sure he will....sadly to me it looks like we may have to forego talent like possibly Adams or Woods along with 2 of T.Jones...J.Jones...K.Wilson...or M.Ayers in lieu of lineup filling garbage like Thomas and Schmeckle and god help us not Kornelson....I just cant see the way we do it The DA tag on Castillo just handcuffs us so much....as good as he is and as great a guy he is in and outside the lockeroom it just takes away a key DA spot from us

  18. Who's your QB1? Rourke or Ford? Brady starts at RB, naturally. Five Canuck receivers: T Philpot, Demski, Emelius, Gittens Jr, K. Smith from Hamilton. I think Philpot is the best of these. Sad that he got banged up last year, he was on a 1600-yard pace the first half of the year -- with Cody Fajardo throwing him the ball, no less -- and it seemed like he could not be covered. Does anyone even play national offensive tackles anymore?

  22. Is there enough room for Shay+Smith+Novak or does one (Novak) end up on the PR? Vaval has apparently impressed according to media reports about camp and can return, does he end up as a DI who is the extra DB and the returner?
    1 point
  23. Given our previous camps it isn’t ridiculous at all. We’ve cut guys the day after a ps game who didn’t play, who played extremely well, we’ve failed to play guys enough to get the rust off etc

  24. I'm excited to see Shay, Novak and Smith all on the field at once.

  25. Camps have a second game for a reason and it is ridiculous for people to assume that anything is set in stone other than our star level players. Some vets are at home because we know what they bring to the table already, and some to shield them from injury, but players play themselves onto and off of the team all the time in game action (including this one) in preseason on every team every year.

  26. Ffs. You take it to seriously bro. You’re like Mike. Think you got all the answers. None of my posts are cut and dried or anything. It’s a simple like I said pre season BS. I mean hey it’s week 2 of pre season vs the same team from last week on the wonderfully crappy cfl plus app again. This time tho, we bringing the B and C teams tho. Fun. Last week was a good game. I hope this one is also. I’m not cutting guys or making roster decisions. I’m just talking football on a football site. I played hockey soccer golf baseball tennis badminton volleyball and hackey sack. I was too small for football. By the time I grew it was 2 late. I’m just a random fan in a hat and jersey some times. Maybe toque. But that’s like 99 percent of us on here. I’m sure some bomber peeps might lurk from time to time.

  29. Not sure it means much but Zach listed is interesting. Thought he wasn’t going. Also Wilson listed 4th is interesting. D Mitch behind Lord Keric and Sir Hall of Western Michigan. Prob means nothing but interesting just pre season bs really but just some interesting things. Our Canadian LB group got a lot younger Shay Smith and Novak prob all make the team. All Canadian and all drafted this year. Impressive Kyle. OL looks like 3 Americans be the plan

  31. Tony Jones played well last season, he easily matched Bighill's contribution and transitioned smoothly into the position, I would think MLB is his job till he loses it. Ayers is probably this year's Brian Cole, filling in and bouncing around between positions, but he might not become a starter till next season, great to have a Swiss Army Knife.

  33. Mcinnis, Emilus, Demski, K.Smith and Gittens Jr. are the top 5 Canadian receivers last year. The Philpot brothers, Shaffer-Baker and Mayala have at least 500 yrds receiving.

  37. Florida now has 3 of the top 4 players taken in the 2014 draft. What a draft year that was! We took Ehlers (which was a great choice) but we could have had Pasternak! Dylan Larkin as well. That's how deep that draft was. As for Drai, I got to see him play here in Kelowna in 2015, when the Rockets mortgaged their future and made the trade for Drai and Morrissey for their Memorial Cup run that year. I was surprised that Drai didn't go first overall.

  38. So if I have it correct @Booch is going to pull a Tonya Harding on Kolo, so we can get Eli at C. @wbbfan will do the same to K.Wilson, so that Ayers doesn't get cut. So who is taking out Jake?

  43. Yeah. Second to injuries, (and rider wins) the thing I hate most in sports is wasted talent. Hope he manages to get him self sorted and back to where he needs to play. it’s been a lot of adjustments and trials of different combos. I don’t think Lofton has practiced much at all. Randolph has looked better than Lofton last year though imo. Hes settled into rt nicely. Vanterpool has taken a nice step forward in general. Wallace has been good. Saw him get beat off the line couple times but recover really well. Think that’s why he got a run at rt. He’s lost 15-20 from his pro day time and he hasn’t lost strength. Run block wise, he’s our best bet at guard imo. Pass pro, he’s worth growing with at this point. Eli is pretty much the usual. Much better at C than G, though playing beside the other Cs he was better than with kola. They really like vibert, and I could see him getting groomed on the pr for a year. Hes a nasty inside guy who can snap a bit and be groomed into a back up C pretty easily. Realistically could be a 6th ol in the league this year from what I’ve seen. Gets off the ball well, strong with a good base, nasty type we always like. Neuf looks significantly more mobile than he did all of last year. More explosive than he’s been in a while. If he stays healthy he should be as good as you’d hope. Among the other rookie imps, Atkinson is a throw back body style. He’s thick and strong and significantly heavier than his listed weight. He’s aggressive and got some good attribute's, but he looks like a straight up guard in need of polish. Which doesn’t happen up here. elsbury has the measurables and it shows on the field, but he’s raw. Reminds me of Randolph last year. I like Hemphills upside, he’s more polished and probably the best of the zone run blockers among the imports. I could see us easily keeping 1-2 imp ol on the pr and 1 ni, and probably another guy on the ir. Best ol imo: Bryant Neuf Eli vanterpool Randolph. realistically, we are gonna start kola if healthy and I don’t think we have the ratio at this point to go 3 imps with our hurting the d and teams. Bryant Neuf kola Wallace Randolph with Eli as the 6th is likely. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more Wallace at RT. I could see a world where we go 4ni ol with vibert on the ar and Wallace at RT easier than I can see us going 4 imp ol. If that happened, it’d be best to slide Neuf to his side to give him more help. Over all I like our ol crop, could still use more Canadian talent as always, we likely have to face more struggles with change though. Guys needs to gel, and take some lumps as starters at their positions. But that is coming for us no matter what. It’s a good time to move forward with young guys and build in near future replacements for Neuf and Bryant.

  46. Dear God, i just realized Callaros has not thrown a TD pass in 4 of our last 5 Grey Cups. Christ, if he's even average we would have won 4 in a row. Great now ive made myself sad and angry. Fired myself back up all over again.
