Bombers win a third Grey Cup in 4 years and Collaros retires.

Or we finally complete the 2019 loop and send Collaros back to Toronto to finish up his career at home (his current home) after this season.

To be clear, not advocating for this, just laying out the potential scenarios for Brown to stay here.

Think of what Edmonton gave Cornelius and think of what a team like that might pay a guy who has actually won a game in their stadium.

Please please no.

who knows...maybe he is content learning and biding his time, and being a part of a winner...weirder things have happened

on a diff note....Ford commented in after game questions that he figured they let up and played conservative as to not lose, being a reason for the collapse....then the might Chris Jones in his media scrum said " maybe players should stay in their lane and execute the plays that are sent in"...what an A-1 assbag coach

Wow. There's that culture in a nutshell.

Bleh.  They actually passed more after they were up 22-0 than before.  Ford just doesn't have much ability to move the ball.  They needed to try to grind down our D and stay on the field.

They really need to base the offense around option run plays if they are going use Ford consistently.  But then it's not like you can throw Doege out there if you need to with the option stuff fully installed.  The issue with guys like Ford and why they end up being gadget players.

Further, Reilly had just turned 28 when he went to EDM and his play style exposed him to a lot of clobberings. Brown will have just turned 27 when camp starts in 2024 and he seems like he'll take fewer hits judging from the way he plays now. Keep it up and the potential for a long(er) career is there. Wouldn't that be nice for the league

once we adjusted and just went to playing traditional Bomber defence, and not have players taken out of the play before it even started with unnecessary spying...the Elks were dead in water....We made them have to beat us with the throw...and it wasnt happening...we have the number one pass defense in the league...and a raw unproven QB who is more a gadget guy at this juncture wasn't gonna beat us that way...

People were chiming in on Biggie being behind the play...or too slow....he was put in that disadvantage by scheme in the opening part of the game....and especially now with Wilson back and looking no worse for wear and likely getting stronger each game now....we dont need to do that....he can clean up that random scrambling stuff all on his own.

Another thig to mention..Rose back has really solidified things on the back end...he is a great communicator and defacto DB coach out there ensuring guys are in the right spot...and seems to keep things calmer...as well as he looks back in form...hardly mentioned out there cause he seems to not being targeted much....BC tried originally but went away from it pretty fast...with him..BA and Nichols we should have minimal busts moving forward....sure there will be a clean beat here and there as that will always happen, but we should be solid...other than Houstons bad whiff on the Moore play...they were pretty sound, even tho it was just Ford tossing ducks up

2023 Rose is playing better than 2022 Rose don’t you think?

re dru brown, he can make quite a bit more money elsewhere I think.

can’t see him going to elks as long as c. Jones is running things.   Stamps maybe, since maier does not seem to be working out.  They have to be looking at dru now.

also…. Bombers clearly made a good decision signing prukop.  He’s going to break one of those third and short.

Yep. Sounded like excuses to me. Elks had a miraculous start. Props to them for shooting themselves out of a cannon to begin the game. Part of that is the Bombers making some questionable defensive play calls. But part was the Elks offensive line having a tonne of energy. Fact of the matter is that they couldn't sustain that level. And eventually the Bomber D matched and surpassed their intensity and blew them out of the water.

We essentially spotted them 3 easy TDs that game. The rest of the game was controlled by the much better team.

Dru Brown had a great game last night against the 0-9 Elks. The 22 home games lost in a row Elks. The 14 losses in a row Elks. The 'we can't win even when we're up by 22' Elks. Too soon to put him on the next great CFL QB train or even the next starting CFL QB train for that matter.

No room on that train with all the Mason Fine's, Dustin Crum's, Taylor Powell's, Bo Levi Mitchell's oversized ego, Cody Fajardo's, Taylor Cornelius', Tre Ford's

A good QB should look great against those bums. EDM came to play and Dru Brown came from behind off the bench and outplayed them, this can only be viewed as a good thing

Also the most wind affected game we've played this season so far.  Kind of notable when a guy comes out slinging.  He skipped one long one to Lawler in the 2nd but otherwise you would have thought it was a calm day.

How do we keep Dru Brown after this season? Sucks

Ya they talked about that in the post game. He's gonna want to start and get paid and he's looking like he's more than earned it. With the lack of quality QBs in this country, SOMEOME is gonna pay him... Gonna be tough.

The other thing DT and Aumell talked about was how much is hom and pure talent, how much is it Bucks system, and how much is the talent around him? Is it just that this is the perfect situation for him, or could he carry this on somewhere else with less to work with?

It's a multi faceted thing...he's in a familiar system that he's been in for 3 yrs...with all the same pieces he's played behind and thrown to this whole time as well ..so he's completely comfortable and accustomed to everyone and their tendancies

Starting from scratch...how does that translate...my take is with growing pains and some sub par performance games.

That being said it's perfect for our situation...and it was clear he learned from his mistakes from his first real start against BC last yr with almost all.the starters...he threw ball away this time when he needed to...and he was more composed and calm..and trusted in his players

So he has made progress for sure...but he is also mainly unproven still but promising. Yeah was Elks...but also put up over 300 yards...4 TD throws...engineered a Prukop sneak score...and that was from coming from being down 22 zip...in less than ideal weather...so that's is impressive and he has down more against them than Harris did this yr...Kelly....even ZC in his first game....credit where credit is due

So hypothetically Winnipeg could deal Brown's rights in the off season for draft capital. How does the 2024 draft look and what do you think we'd get?

I was thinking about this too.

BLM essentially cost Hamilton a 2nd round pick, a 6th round pick and they moved down a couple spots in round 1.

If I'm KW, that's the minimum I would take.  I'd rather have Brown than Broken Bo at this point in their careers.

I had my doubts about Drew, mostly because of his lack of experience in CFL games which were still in the process of being decided. His performance last night was all the proof that he is the real thing and that Collaros does not need to be rushed back into service if not 100%. This was a sad-sack Elks team, true, but his passes were as sharp as any thrown in the CFL this year. The biggest problem is how to keep him.

100%  ,  folks need to cool the jets on him for now.   Hopefully this continues but I do remember him in this pre season struggling to make basic plays against 3rd string CFL'ers.

But then again as I said to JuranBoldenRules .... Crum destroyed the Bombers in only a quarter so in the CFL game who knows what anything means these days.

That back end is the class of the league...that is all. And , I love what Wilson brings back, sometimes you take for granted what you had. Our D ,with a few tweaks just might be as good ,or better than 2019.

Thing is Brown has showed well in other regular season games too. It's not like this is his only body of work. I sat there freezing my ass off watching his absolutely abysmal first outing in Calgary and the guy has taken massive leaps since then. He shows as much potential as anyone in the league right now.
