Vanterpool in for Dobson is a major upgrade up front too. Vanterpool would be my player of the game. Here's a stat for you: Peterson averaged 130 yards per game in his last 2 years of U Sports. 130 yards rushing in his first CFL game. Took a few more carries to get there than it did in U Sports...but still.

Give some love to wheatfall too who looked like a legit threat out there.

Maybe it’s because we’ve seen the same stubborn loyalty to veterans for a few seasons and some people would like to see the team adopt a slight shift in philosophy so that it could potentially lead to winning the Grey Cup, not just being in it.

This game showed me why I'm glad Buck Pierce is the hell & gone as OC. Stev's best game of his pro career. He showed he can play qb. Changed up his fundamentals this off season. He showed that if you give him the entire playbook & not just make him a one dimensional raging ground warrior or gimmicky qb he can make the throws. For that we can thank LaPo & his protege Buck Pierce. Lapo had at least a bit of imagination with Streveler in 2018 & 19. He actually used him the best at the time considering back then his limitations as an actual qb plus his inability to read a CFL defense. Pierce OTOH was just sadistic expecting him to go out there & take the punishment that he did. I'm excited for Jarious Jackson as his position coach.

Strev - **** you to anyone who says he can't play QB Rookie RB - To not be overwhelmed in the moment is almost unbelievable, given the circumstances. Yeah....He had a perfect group of guys to catch league off-guard at first to toss up a lot of contested balls...and got lucky with that...and they let an awfull lot of OPI go on with his 2 big targets....But teams figured him out...and he faded....also his quick strike plays when not there, and he had to actually decipher a defense...well you seen the difference Our defense especially with multiple looks...and the same looks but it switches at snap...utterly confuses him Betts too...One big season and a lot of that was questionable "was he offside" crap...once he started to get called....and guys got hands on him...What he do? Not a helluva lot...except pout and show a piss poor attitude My gripe with a lot of the CFL Media and especially TSN is this over the top/unwarranted Canadian pushing with certain players....I get it's the CFL but enough already....Market and promote the actual top players who been doing it for yrs...regardless of where they were hatched. The average joe fan or a lot of the new fans they are wanting to pull in...and a lot of them are...and where a it's a huge market is within the immigrant community...they could give a rats ass...Most Canadians really could care less other than a small fraction...Whats it really matter...it's played in Canada...under unique Canadian rules by a lot of Americans who call Canada home yr round...promote that aspect Not to look at things thru blue glasses but it really is an injustice to BO that the powers that be in the CFL don't promote him more...What Canadian RB post the late 70's early 80's...Or player for that matter has won back to back MOC....A MOP and MOC season...gunning for 4 straight 1000 yard seasons...lead league multiple in a row...and actually grew up in Canada...played all his formative ball in Canada prior to College?....These the guys that should be getting the attention

Update: Oliveira is feeling much better than expected over the last 24 hours and may possibly only miss 1 game. He apparently said that he even hopes to suit up this weekend, but i would think thats highly unlikely. Its a long season and im sure the Bombers would err on the side of caution with him, especially with how Peterson looked.

Rolling out a lousy depth chart, not sure what to expect but......LFG!!!!!!!!

There’s no way the OL changes aside from injury. Take out Sterns, play one less American on D, drop Ayers or the returner….all things that happen before the OL changes. Just had 450 yards of offense with basically one half of Streveler in rhythm (never affected by rush on a drop back) and all but one drive with a guy who was playing against the Bisons 8 months ago at tailback. We can live without edge rush. OL is priority 1000%.

Bottom line is there were a hell of a lot of guys with standout games tonight and that is an amazing things IMO. What a statement to open the season.

2 main issues to me are, one WR injury away from Corcoran being out there every play and no DE depth for 2 guys in their 30s.

Because the DL depth sucks on the depth chart... they've got a linebacker listed as the only backup DE... they've got 3 Canadian DTs for some reason instead of proper DE depth. We can quibble about whether they made the right choices in terms of players at db or lb but what they did with the DL is a god damned disgrace from a positional perspective.

They'd be thin out of the gate to always have 2 Canadians out on D, but it wouldn't be that bad. You'd need 2 of Kramdi, Lawson/Thomas, Munier-Bailey, Shay, Smith, Gauthier, Hallett on the field on any given snap. Chances are we will have 2 of those guys on the field anyway. If the difference is QB having time to move the ball vs QB not having time to move the ball, it's a pretty easy call.

We should win this, need to see Zach put up solid #'s, defense needs to contain Ford, dont let it be a trap game. LETS ******* GO!!!!

I’ll never understand these type of posts. The majority of us are just shooting the **** offering up a variety of opinions on the great, the good and the bad of certain aspects of the BB. Its where we come to escape and play gm/coach/consultant. And my opinion with lots of in-depth analysis behind it is BC sucks.

Hello Went down a rabbit hole one Sunday night and dug up the W/L numbers as starters for Collaros and Flutie (didn't have to go digging for Mitchell's with the milestone he just hit). Was sharing them with Noeller and 17to85 but thought maybe some of you might have interest. These are all current. Win/Loss on a single team (minimum 50 Starts) Flutie (Stamps) - 63 Starts - 50 W - 13 L. .794 winning percentage Mitchell (Stamps) - 117 Starts - 90 W - 25 L - 2 T. .778 winning percentage Collaros (Bombers 2019 - present) - 66 Starts - 51 W - 15 L. .773 winning percentage All time Win/Loss Flutie - 105 Starts - 78 W - 27 L. .743 winning percentage Mitchell - 143 Starts - 100 W - 41 L - 2 T. .706 winning percentage Collaros - 132 Starts - 85 W - 47 L. .644 winning percentage A few observations. I have given Bo 1 win for his 2 ties. Fluties only real losing was to start his career in BC. And even that was only for 1 year. You can see his numbers with the Stamps, and by my count the 2 years he was an Argo, they went 15-3 both years. The only way to spin that Bo wins more than Flutie is to use the "fastest to 100 wins" when we know Flutie didn't play enough to get 100 wins. I was curious when I put this together if Bo's record was actually better than Flutie's. We can see its not, and isn't really that close. I guess when he first left Calgary, it was but he's dropped off since then. And Zack's run in Winnipeg... When he left Hamilton after 2017, he was 24-27 as a starter (even coming here he was only 34-32 as a starter after Sask), and since that time has somehow willed his way into the conversation here. Collaros would have been #1 on the team chart until 2024 happened. Almost half of all his losses as a bomber were in 2024. Mathematically he can't get to 100 wins in less than 143 (absolute best he can do now is 147), but I could see him passing Bo for all time wins or winning percentage all time. Flutie is probably untouchable, and I'm okay with that.

And a Bomber game is far more fun than a Jets game.

Lots to learn from that game. Edmonton exposed our coverages by running switch routes where guys cross and go vertical to other side of field they started from. Our HB's and Safety made really bad reads on what route they needed to prioritize on some of those plays and Edmonton hit/almost hit several big plays off those. Nichols kind of got lost on the TD and jumped eligible OL...but really who cares about that guy at midfield, not a threat, while Bridges stayed with his guy across the field and the other wideout got passed off twice, third time (when he turned vertical) to no one because Nichols was out in the flat on a OL. Then he was running by himself to the endzone with the ball. You know it's a bad bust when a guy is running completely free on a play from the minus side of midfield because our coverages hugely prioritize sitting on vertical routes basically until they cross the 30. But the games are so long, have 4-5 negative plays are going to happen. You want to be able to get those back with turnovers and sacks.

He had 2 in the first game, only in goal line. I'm halfway through the 3rd of game 2 and he has 4 in this game. All at defensive end.

Identical to last week

I liked what I saw from Cooley and would love to see him get more reps. He seemed to be a guy like Charles Roberts who can do quick cuts and find holes but with the added benefit of being build like a tank and being able to power through for a few extra yards. It would be nice to see if he can be the real deal.
