  5. Moving on to next game, we won't see an injury report till tomorrow...Stamps are getting healthier and bringing in some players (Michel signed yesterday, Begelton is back). I fully expect a win in front of a big crowd on a perfect Friday night in Winnipeg. Cheer for an Argos win tonight and we can match Bc's record in the West with a win!

  6. Holm didn’t cover 500 square yards on one play…he sucks for sure. If Holm could do his job we wouldn’t even need to dress 5 DBs.

  7. Hopefully we see a Lawler debut, defence slowly getting healthier, I could expect a pounding.

  8. Here’s a quote from BA from the post they released today on the WBB website. “And that big play before that… that was a big ‘my fault’, as well. I should have been there for Holmie (Evan Holm) on the post, and I wasn’t there. That’s definitely my fault. I’m glad I was able to make it up on the next one. To be honest with you, that interception shouldn’t have even needed to happen because I should have been back there on that post play.”

  9. "The Bombers had originally predicted Lawler, who signed a two-year deal over the offseason, would be back somewhere between three and four weeks. That timeline has now passed, with next week marking a potentially fifth straight week Lawler could be sidelined, and there’s been little as far as updates from the team. “It remains a work in progress,” Miller said. “It’s just taking a little bit longer than everybody thought it would. We hope to get a resolution very shortly.” Miller said the process is a time-consuming one and there’s nothing the club can do to speed it up. Lawler isn’t permitted to be with the team while he occupies a spot on the club’s suspended list but has been staying in shape and wouldn’t require much to be inserted back into the lineup. Miller said Lawler’s spirits remain high and he’s eager to rejoin the team and contribute both on and off the field, with community work already something he and the Bombers had been discussing before news broke of his current situation. As far as giving back to the community, Lawler hopes to run a football camp for kids over the first bye week, assuming everything can get figured out, which isn’t a guarantee just yet."

  10. That's his running style. Lunch bucket & powerful back. He 's the working man's running back. Nothing fancy. Hits the hole & runs hard. But you can see that he's maturing as a back. He sees the holes much better & has really improved upon his blocking. The Bombers made the right choice to let Andrew Harris walk as a free agent.

I'm just glad I'm retired & never have to worry about this again. I'll let you guys sort out the woes of the working world. Way more important priorities to think about.

  13. I love the “this defence is worse than 2021” people. Basically every CFL defence that has ever existed is worse than that defence.

  16. How so? Faj dropped the ball on the snap, bighill goes over the top usually on short yardage so the botched snap nullifies all that anyway. That was luck for the als that the ball came back to faj.

  17. There were so many times last night he saw the hit coming so just put the shoulder down and gave as good as he got. God willing he stays healthy cause that's the kind of player that can just grind a team down.

  18. This post and along with the week's "Battle of Steubenville" contest (Collaros vs Najee Murray) brings to mind a sad story of another Steuby grad with Canadian experience, Calvin Jones. Cal was an All-State, All-American 1955 Outland Trophy winner with the Iowa Hawkeyes. When the Winnipeg Blue Bombers offered him MORE money than the NFL, he went north. Calvin had a good year and made the league all-star team. He slept in and missed his morning flight home, taking a later plane. It crashed leaving no survivors. Jones is celebrated in his home town with a monument outside venerable (1933) Harding Stadium. His storied rival in college was Ohio State's Jim Parker who went on to a HOF career with the Baltimore Colts. Cal was the first African-American to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine, and his number is one of only two to be retired at Iowa, the other being that of legendary Nile Kinnick. Steubenville kids all know his story and are inspired to this day.

  19. I totally forgot to also mention how Usher is a complete clown and would totally fit in with the 2022 Riders team. Guy show boating when they were down by 2 scores and not doing well at all. He was an idiot.

  20. That is so true...we weren't winning games by halftime...all teams have pro players and they can make plays at any time...one fast receiver gets behind coverage and qb drops it in and the field is flipped. Super Bowl champs Chiefs with the best QB in football and a TE that is better than most receivers and top 3 defensive player in the NFL and some of the best coaches didn't blow teams out - point spread matters for gambling and that is it. Bombers know how to win because of the players and coaches and team they have.

  24. last year's Stamps game went right down to the game saving end zone INT that won the game for the Blue so I don't expect a blow out on Friday either.

  25. I think the league plans to crack down on Bighill's over the top missile shot on the QB this year, if the helmet can't be the target, he doesn't have much to aim at.

  26. won't be long before every punter in the CFL is Australian. I'm a big fan of the AFL (Go Dockers!), those guys can boot it 40,50 yards into a pickle barrel while on the run and a guy hanging off of them, amazing athletes.

  27. I watched the highlights after alexander int, the entire defence turned and really booted it upfield. you can see Bighill's speed on that play.... man is he fast. He was hunting for someone to kill. I wonder if they are coached to be careful not to get a penalty on an int. dont want to ruin a huge play with that. take it out of the ref's hands. It would be interesting to sit in on one of their blackboard sessions. these guys are such astonishing athletes.

  29. The BC game has my confidence shaken and likely will be the rest of the year. I don't think much of Maier, but I also didn't think much of VAJ. We have to be healthy, and bring our A game every single week just to get a win, never mind whooping anyone. I truly believe the days are gone where the Bombers are head and shoulders above everyone else and untouchable at home. Every game will be a struggle.

  30. Yup...Like how the defense is slowly coming together...get Wilson and Hansen in mix....Parker and Rose....see what they bring...Swarmay another game to see if he keeps improving....love his aggressiveness and tackling, Houston just seems to be around the turnovers, and seems to be coming to form...and we still have Holm...Lawrence and Mouhamed to choose from...we be okay in the back end when all healthy and we sort out whos where.....and gotta say..Clements has beebn solid all yr...pleasant surprise...yr 3 a lot of times is when things click

  31. Said some thing about medical issues. Guess he’s on the 6 game too. Hopefully he’s better soon. They haven’t done it yet this year. And didn’t do it each week last year. It sucks that was their best piece by a lot.

  33. If they win at home in 2021, everything looks so much different. We got the bounces at the end of that game. Also think we deserved to win it too but a bounce goes the other way and Steinauer never buys another drink in that town again. And, yet, here we are.

  43. I'll take 3-1 right now with all the injuries. At this rate we only need to win 4 more games this year to at least get the cross over lol...

  44. and one break...and a positive drive...we possibly could have pulled the BC game out as late in the game....it was in all honesty still winnable....thats the part over looked even though we seemed like we were dominated save for the first 2 games...we haven't fielded the same secondary since....and even then it was a secondary that had 2 guys starting that were not projected starters when camp opened...I'll pass more judgement when all guys are available, and see what we trot out then, an how they perform....weeks 1-5 in the CFL with basically how short TC is....the smaller rosters and if u have injury issues a feeling out process anyway....our 2 grey cup win seasons...both those yrs we had an unsettled secondary late into yr as well..and it panned out ok

  45. Maier does not seem to handle pressure very well. He can however at least physically throw the ball deep so I imagine as always the key for success is the d-line.

  46. There is this narrative that because of not just the BC game but also other teams "keeping it close" that the Bombers aren't the same team... but very rarely the last several seasons did the Bombers ever blow teams out. They usually won closer games pulling away late, which aside from bc is pretty much the story this year. Bc game was ugly, but they have had those kinds of games before. I don't think it's time to worry yet, this team still has most of the hallmarks of previous teams. And if guys like Hansen and Wilson come back anywhere close to where they were before injury we're laughing.
