  14. Related: If anyone's looking for a good CFL read, Ed Willes has a really fantastic book about the US expansion era of the CFL called "Border Wars and Endzones" that's available on Amazon and other places. Really fun read about a crazy time in CFL history...

  18. Very likely. But vet bias aside, Dobson will very likely pass gray as a better guard this year, maybe early this year. Having dobson be the guy to come in for the heavy package alone is going to be major. He's one of the best canadian road graders I've ever seen. He wasn't just a guy who dominated his man in college, he broke guys will to compete.

  19. Gray still has the starter gig all but locked up, just based on experience, but it won't take long for Dobson to figure it out and get more and more snaps as a 6OL likely...

  21. It’s great to hear that grant is getting a serious look at wr finally. That’s really exciting. Glad to hear that Saunders is looking good too. Yeah and a tough guy mentally. Being out of football soo long then coming back to what happened last year has to be crushing. If his work shows dividend’s with the hash mark move I think he’s going to do great. this is def his last chance unless he shows great.

  25. Thanks for these tweet imbedded posts all. As some one who doesn't really twit it adds a lot. Sucks about Agudosi. Hopefully its not too serious. At a point in camp like this especially with the none start I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of vet days and guys getting minor pulls. TC is tough as hell. Having a hitch in the start especially on a shortened start could make it tough. An article on 3dn last week had chris jones speculating that with the hash mark change the league could see a forced evolution of the Wil spot. As it is we don't see many 250lbs macs any more, the smaller side well rounded athlete at 220-230 has become much more popular. We've been seeing bigger sams become popular, guys who are more US safteys with cover skills and the ability to play in the box like moncrief. We might see Big ish dbs filling the wil spot. Guys like Kyrie can play HCF zone cover but not really take a wr man to man down field. If teams don't evolve on defense, offenses will use motion and rubs to create those miss matches. I could see a spot like that making opportunities for NI db tweeners. We have 8 dbs in camp over 200 lbs. A few of them like rutledge (imp, 6'1 215), Rene (ni, 6'2 206) Maston (imp, 6'0 210) Lavigne (ni, 6'0 210), Karamoko (G, 6'2 210) and the classic hallet bro, nick (5'11 202) with honorable mention to Ciguineau (ni, 6'3 196) all of whom could draw into that type of roll situationally or full time for maston. Ty ford isn't far off either at 5'11 194. Hes smaller then the rest, but a maximized athlete. 17 reps at 225 for a sub 200 lbs db is no joke.

  27. Yep, Ackie even mentions that just because he feels one way, doesn't mean others will. I can understand Canadian players not being happy about the ratio but there were a lot of gains on the players side. You're never going to be 100% happy and that goes for both sides, like I'm sure the ownership group isn't overly thrilled with giving up a chunk of Grey Cup revenue.

  29. Hopefully it's nothing. I was reminded recently that the way the negotiators view deals versus balance of the union membership can be quite different. The MLBPA negotiating team did not endorse the CBA but the membership voted overwhelmingly in favour. Sometimes, the negotiators have done enough, even if they don't feel it.

  35. It didn't go down quite like that... it was 2017 and Hewie had been running around for 2 days before CO's were able to tranquilize him. They were transporting him to a more suitable location when he died. The official statement said it was due to the stress & exertion of running through a populated area in hot weather. No, your recollection is pretty good. https://www.thestar.com/sports/football/2017/09/11/moose-that-almost-delayed-blue-bombers-roughriders-game-dies-due-to-stress-manitoba-government-says.html I still have video of Hewie going for a swim in the pond south west of the stadium. We used to walk through there to get to IGF and he was our pre-game entertainment that day.

I hope they follow through with this investigation and identify the credit card holders, and don't just drop it now that Kenney has resigned. I think he knew he couldn't win by cheating again this time, as too many eyes were watching him for any sleight of hand.

  38. I know players don't stay on teams because they're nice or whatno, just watched the video of Mourtada. Sounds like a good guy, sounds like he put serious work in the off season and I'm actually pulling for him. That being said, this I feel would be his end if the season goes like last after having a full off season to train instead of being thrown in halfway through the season.

  39. It's more of a marketing gimmick for the team, and we sorta manipulated it into Fort Hew (now a nickname for IGF) and then #DefendTheFort Really appreciate your work!!

  40. I think you're blowing things a bit out of proporton on the future of Alberta. When it comes right down to it Kenney played dirty politics. He was a crook. He cheated to win the UCP leadership in 2018 & he did the same thing with the review. Except that the voters in the ladership review knew that already so it didn't work. For example, just 8 credit cards bought $48,000 worth of new UCP memberships. Who were these 8 individuals with the credit cards? Why aren't their names being released? What candidate were they working for? Were they government credit cards or individual? Why would anyone spend their money on their own credit cards buying memberships? So I think I know the answer to that question. These memberships were bought & paid for by taxpayer dollars. Other accusations include memberships being sold in people's names who didn't buy them. Elections AB is now investigating. Kenney's word could never be trusted. He was as transparent as the Red River. For him, being Premier was going to be a stepping stone to a coronation as leader of the CCP & ultimately PM. Kenney's govt was corrupt. He was a contemptable little man.
