Hypothetical question here. As more natural resources start becoming available in the arctic and Russia decides they want access to them and starts annexing parts of Canada, would you stand by and fall in line or would you fight for your way of life and country? Don't want to get into a debate on whether or not the US would ever allow that to happen, but trying to put yourself in the shoes of being a citizen of an invaded country.

@jeffkhamilton · 33m Nikolaj Ehlers hits the ice in a regular jersey, after wearing a non-contact yellow earlier in the week. Good sign for the speedy Dane, who has been out with a knee injury since Jan. 18.

I think you're confusing ignorance with their desire for Russia to succeed. Putin has many backers with the Rebel, Fox, and the other alt-right media.

  14. It's happened in Winnipeg as well so it's not all that uncommon unfortunately. This hotel could definitely have handled this much better though - I've read some accounts where other hotels realized they screwed up and didn't jack the prices for Grey Cup week, so they kept the existing reservations as is but any future reservations were made at a much higher rate. Another version I've read was that a hotel cancelled all reservations but immediately rebooked the rooms at a slightly higher rate. They then contacted the affected guests and gave them the option to keep the new reservation or cancel. So same scenario but 3 different approaches... The Hampton chose the worst possible one. We booked rooms a while ago as we found decently priced rooms (for GC week anyhow), but now this story has us checking to make sure our reservations are still in place! 😂

  15. https://3downnation.com/2022/03/02/cfl-fans-accuse-regina-hotel-of-cancelling-grey-cup-reservations-without-notification/ The world is such a different place since 2013....but Regina isn`t. Same old crap and the main reason they shouldn`t be hosting Grey Cups. I am still traumatized by how bad the Grey Cup experience was there in 2013. Price gouging being my main, but not only, complaint....and here we go again.

Ukraine is a democratic country. They elected their government and have been invaded several times in the past decade by the aggressors, the Russians. Russia thinks Ukraine belongs to them. Get f***ed if you're going to try to both sides this.

This is likely the most realistic scenario where we would be drawn into a physical altercation with Russia, besides a NATO war. My biggest fear is that my sons will have to fight a war someday. If I could take their place, I would. If they choose to fight and the military is willing to take me, I would.

I think you just explained why many trans people feel isolated enough to commit suicide without knowing you've explained it. In other words, your cause and effects are ass-backwards. "Suicidal behaviour is a complex phenomenon that is a result of many individual (age, male sex assigned at birth, previous suicide attempts, mental health history, substance abuse) as well as more distant environmental factors. A recent literature review clearly demonstrates the specific risk factors for suicide in sexual minority youth, which includes negative social environments, inadequate support within the closest social network, and an absence of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) movements in communities (29). In our cohort, both trans women and trans men show a three‐ to four‐fold elevated risk of suicide compared with the population rate in the Netherlands and can therefore be considered a high‐risk group. Although the Netherlands is known for its tolerance toward sexual minority groups in comparison to most countries in the world (30), the societal position of trans people is generally less favorable compared with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and cis‐gender population. Furthermore, compared with trans men, the societal position of trans women is lower (31, 32." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7317390/

Different now. You can't control things without at least some level of compliance from the people you are trying to control. Ukraine and it's army will not ever follow the direction of Putin or any of his puppets. In order for Putin or his puppet to have control it will take military occupation by Russia to gain compliance of the people. Russia's economy cannot survive it.

  29. Pretty much. The tour bus is what I went on. Got to Regina to find out that my hotel room included a stranger as a room mate for the weekend. Went downstairs to the hotel lobby to see if they had any rooms available by cancellation and was told that the tour bus operator had first dibs on any cancellations as he had overbooked his bus tour. I ended up finding a room at a fleabag hotel, it was old but clean and private, as I did not want to be sleeping with a stranger in the next bed. That was just a start to the nightmare though, throughout the weekend I had a terrible time accessing taxis, or even getting a bite to eat without long lineups. I have been to many LDCs prior, and since, and never experienced anything like that in Regina. They can handle a football game, but they sure as heck can't handle the Grey Cup. It's beyond their scope.

  30. Last time it was a tour bus company buying all the hotel rooms driving up prices & now this. Regina is too small to host the Grey Cup. It would be like Green Bay hosting the Super Bowl.

Ukraine is not going to surrender. I would think that much is clear by now. Russia likely takes military control of Ukraine at some point but there is zero chance of surrender and that is the biggest problem for Putin in all of this. He thought they would surrender and he was wrong. This is either a long term military occupation with severe consequences for Putin and Russia, or he saves face and leaves with some minor concessions from Ukraine. There is no chance that Russia wins the war, plants their flag, takes it`s military home and Ukraine is now part of Russia. That was Putin`s plan and it has badly blown up in his face.

Interesting that one of the richest Russian oligarchs not being sanctioned... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/tops...id=hplocalnews "But one of the most recognizable Russian elites to have been excluded from Canada’s sanction list is billionaire Roman Abramovich, best known outside his home country as the owner of Chelsea FC, one of the world’s most popular soccer teams. Abramovich, who had come under intense political scrutiny in the U.K., said on March 2 that he will sell Chelsea and donate the proceeds to Ukraine, the Financial Times reported . The team is only his most visible asset in the West. Among other things, Abramovich is the largest shareholder in Evraz PLC, a steel manufacturing and mining business that has facilities in Regina, Calgary and Edmonton. Evraz has provided the majority of the pipe to the Trans Mountain expansion (TMX) project, which will expand the movement of oil and refined products from the Edmonton area to a terminal on the Pacific Coast for export. Evraz’s agreement with original pipeline owner Kinder Morgan provided 250,000 metric tons of pipe to the project." "Abramovich announced Wednesday he is selling the Chelsea soccer club. Abramovich said the sale will "not be fast-tracked but will follow due process," and that the net proceeds will go to victims in Ukraine." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/chelsea...ovich-ukraine/

Man, those Ukrainians are courageous. just amazing. Note: don't piss off Germany: "Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov was sanctioned by the European Union on Monday. Two days later, Forbes has learned from three sources in the yacht industry that one of his prized possessions—the 512-foot yacht Dilbar, valued at nearly $600 million—has been seized by German authorities in the northern city of Hamburg." 😂🤣😂

I fear the worst.... At some point, the Russian military (when stymied) will fall back into to their ole default position........go strictly into straight full-on fire power mode - indiscriminate artillery and aerial bombardment and simply destroy everything, and to hell with any civilians. In fact, the goal is to exact a high civilian death toll in order to break the morale of the people. Following the well worn playbook....when they take control, the Russian may have themselves a military parade to symbolize the supposed final defeat of the "Neo-Nazi element", with a final phase of the operation to destroy pockets of "bandits" and "terrorists" - in other words, pretty well whoever they like. Grozny (Chechnya) all over again.
