There’s also the reality that I see a lot of people on social media (not here) missing, which is that a lot of our veterans aren’t getting raises. I guarantee you Willie, Kyrie, Bryant, Neufeld, Eli, Castillo as a whole make less than they did last year. We also let go of some big ticket low impact players … Ceresna over Vaughters was less than $100k increase. Tim White over Dillon Mitchell was maybe a $50k cap increase. Jonathan Jones and Peyton Logan are gone and their cap hits were decent. Even Jake Thomas had a decent cap hit that is now off the books. We paid big money to Pokey, Holm, Lawson, Kramdi, Brady and some others but a lot of that went on the 2025 cap and a lot of it came from offsets elsewhere and that’s probably exactly why we were able to come out swinging on a guy like Broxton. It may not result in a return to the glory days (also, it may) but I can’t help but be impressed with what Walters has done with the cap so far.

Really going to miss Schoen on the Bombers, it was a treat getting to watch him play when he was fully healthy. Always going to be a big what if. If he could have stayed healthy I think he could have turned into one of the greats. Dumb decisions to play him injured, and man the guy took a pounding after the catch on some less than stellar passes.

I think you can pretty much count on the Bombers starting 3 American OL with Elsbury being a strong contender to win the centre job too....possibly 4. They have 13 American OL signed for 2026.

The Riders could sign every free agent and win 14 straight Grey Cups and they would still suck. That is just a fact. I don't know why Rider fans come on here thinking they can convince us otherwise.

I would imagine Shay and Smith will get reps otherwise I’d be starting to ask why we drafted them. But hey, I’m not the coach.

I’m curious to see if we actually use the roster exemption spots this year, since we never have. It’s been a bit murky so I may admittedly not completely understand it. Pretty sure we have to start 8 “Canadians” but one of them can be an American with enough service time. This is the one that baffles me, since we consistently deploy enough veterans. We could also use the designated Nationalized American and I’m wondering if that’s what they do with Ceresna. The Bombers have been adding a LOT of DT types to the negotiation list lately, which makes me wonder if they’re still going to try and find a big body there and utilize the inside-outside ability Ceresna has. Not being inside the mind of Walters or O’Shea, it’s impossible to say what they’re thinking but what I would personally do at this point with the way our roster is built … I’d declare 6 Canadians (Brady, Demski, Nield, Neufeld, whoever plays center and Stan) on offense and 2 Canadians (Lawson and Kramdi) on defense to get to 8 and then I’d start a rookie DT next to Lawson and make Ceresna the designated Nationalized American on defense … rotate him in for Lawson up to 25 snaps, rotate him for Willie or the other American DT the rest of the time. We also could use a designated Nationalized American on offense in addition, but I’m not really quite sure how you’d work that since your 6th OL is probably Gabe Wallace which you’re happy with.

You also fail to mention that you lost a Canadian starter, lost a very big piece to the NFL (Meyers), suddenly need a Global to replace a strong contributing one, Nield was a borderline starter and a strong depth add at worst, your starting DT retired and you paid a LOT more money to the same guys moving from 2025 to 2026. The DT we have added to our negotiation list are very interesting and it’s pretty obvious by the amount of them we have added this year that we’re recruiting hard there Anterio Thompson added on the 19th … 6’4 310 James Thompson Jr added on the 23rd … 6’6 305 Kevionta Spears added on the 28th … 6’4 315 Casey Rogers added on the 23rd … 6’5 305 Dominic Bailey added on the 16th … 6’3 300 Looks like they’re recruiting a specific build type of here and not looking at the fire hydrant guys we have in the past. Getting longer. Like to see that a lot.

I mean, realistically there was a lot of confusion surrounding the cap amount and there are definitely a few teams who got caught waiting too long to use it but at the same time, I’m glad he didn’t just spend it to spend it last year. Must’ve been tempting in a Grey Cup hosting year but who was out there that would’ve made a difference? I suppose you could argue maybe a Eugene Lewis type player but with Hogan calling plays, we were ****** anyways. Our roster and its usage was not anywhere near good enough last year. We were in tough the moment we decided to sign that horrendous foursome of Mitchell, Vaughters, Logan and Jones.

I don’t necessarily think he’s done but I think the big impacts have been made. Still a couple interesting pieces I’d love to see us in the mix for. Charleston Rambo is one that I do really want to see … feels like a guy on the come up and he would jive well with what we already have here. Plus, you could theoretically give him the offensive DA spot to let him sub in for Nield/Clercius or hell even Brady 25 snaps a game. Blessman Ta’ala the global DT out of Ottawa would be another big piece. Wouldn’t imagine he’s going to return after they signed Baldonado and I know the two globals on the DL may redundant but I like him as a depth rotational piece for sure, even if you just use him instead of Kornelson. Wouldn’t mind Ciraco to compete, also wouldn’t hate to see us acquire Sean Thomas-Erlington … think Tommy Condell knows him quite well if I’m remembering right.

Micah Johnson, Carney, Baldonado from the dline, Reavis and Allen from the linebackers, Nield and Robustelli from the wr group and the back up QB, that's a lot of loss.

Let me type slowly so you will understand. Sacks, especially when you are talking 6 of them, mean nothing. His PFF was the 2nd lowest at QB pressures in the entire league last year. He, also, struggled badly at holding the edge because he was too slow. We had probably the worst DL in the entire CFL last year, and chose not to offer him a new contract. That ought to tell you way more about his on field impact than the fact the QB got pushed to him a few times last year. We had zero pressure off the edge last year...like none....and we got scorched because of it. Willie J was asked to drop out a lot of the time, so he can be forgiven, but Vaughters did zero and he was supposed to be our pressure guy off the edge. You guys got the worst De from the worst DL....and you think it was a good signing. You are proof that Da Nile isn't just a river in Egypt. After about 2 games of running backs going around the edge on Vaughters and QBs breaking contain on him and QBs surveying the horizon because they have all day in the pocket, and you will realize fully what you had in Carney and what you got in Vaughters. It will cost you games. The losses you guys took will result in lost games. I predict no better than 3rd in the West for you guys next year, and MIGs, you know as well as I do that I am really good at accurately predicting the Riders.

Vaughters was old and slow imo. I never liked him last year at all, and would have rather we tried rookies out.

Powell is the guy I wanted at QB if we were going to go veteran backup. Nothing else really out there that's worth bringing in unless we have an emergency during the season. U can guarantee most if not all those big deals we did prior to Jan has money on the 2025 books We had and likely still have $ to spend..and wouldn't shock me if we grab another nice piece I wouldn't be shocked if its another one of the best available canadian recievers
