    Vaval back is massive....
  3. Vaval being back is another positive. Walters off season so far has been very good.
  4. 5 points
Well with the goal post fuckery necessitating more short placement punts he might be very useful
  5. Castillo and Sheanan are back
  6. 4 points
And vaval will be back for this year. Hes one of the more interesting year 2 guys to see. It’ll be hard to continue his performance from the last 2/3s or so of last year. But if he can take a step forward at db and be more useful as a back up, and more consistent and secure in the kr game we will be in a great spot. There is a decent chunk of guys im excited to see in year 2. If a couple have that game slowing down process we could see some new star power on this team.
  7. Sheehan was either a lot better last year, or the least of our worries. Either way, I don't remember complaining about him near as much
  8. he significantly cut down on the shanks after a couple weeks. I think we could do more with greater punt depth given the depth and talent we have on teams, but i’m not surprised by this move it’s pretty solid. I also hope we bring in tough camp competition like we should at all positions. Very happy sergio is back. It’s been an excellent beginning to the off season. Walter’s has finally done well with what is in our control. We have dished out some big pay days, but no reason we can’t make it work in free agency still. Of what’s left for our fas, I expect big stan to get his deal done, I’d like makonzo back, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we bring back one or more of the imp wrs. I think schoen is pretty toast but we could sit him for a year on the 6 game. I like sterns as a scrappy over achiever, wouldn’t mind him back on the cheap. Wheatfall id be happy to move on from but who knows he could be back. Wr, and Dl are going to be big holes needing filling from fa. Then ol would be huge to add 1 guy. Powell would be tremendous to get as well.
  9. Good news on Castillo... I don't mind Sheehan though I'd like to see some legitimate competition for that job...
  10. I like Castillo being back, meh to Jamison's return.
  11. 2 year deal for Castillo & 1 for Sheahan.

I think we will likely sign him at some point on a barf=gain deal for late season possibly being ready....no harm in that really, but in no way count on him in any regard We have a couple of nice prospects we signed, but hope we add Hardy to Pokey, Demski and Clercius and whatever rookie pops off the page as the 5th guy and that would be a nice group Maybe we are gonna target a Canadian WR in FA and go 3 Canadians and 2 Imports...and allow us to maximize some legit Import beef on the dline
  13. 4 points
Maybe just maybe we should be looking at developing Canadian Qbs as well..say a designated 2 to 3 year spot for a Canadian Qb to be groomed( that actually benefits a team ratio wise), the talent has gotten so much better, they just lack the coaching that US players get.

Stan at the right price, I'd take... That's about it. Right now I'm wanting a good C, some IMP DL and REC... If we can grab some quality pieces there I think we're in decent shape.
  15. Looking at the BB free agent list...I'm not sure there's anyone left we really NEED to sign. Is there anyone who you think we should sign? Successful offseason thus far. Time to start looking at other teams' free agents IMO. I'm still thinking Brissett from Toronto would be a great add.

    More room for ads!
  17. While I was hoping they would also increase the size of the screens, I am glad they are improving the resolution. Now, if they just make use of the full screen for replays on occasion. I know they need to advertise and show the score but they should be able to use the full screen for video more often.
  18. Schoen will be 30 in October.....2 acl's ...I'd be very tentative about re-upping the guy .....He was a warrior for us BUT the injuries he suffered will most likely have affected his game.....Will he totally recover and be the same player....Big question mark and there's a few good receivers available in fa....I think it's time to move on
  19. 3 points
I think we should have the rogue but only in quarters 3 and 4 on days where the temperature is +25 or higher.
  20. for this yr yup....could stash him all yr on the IR to be part of the team and get involved in the new offensive system and then come 2027 he hits ground running, and then see what he has...if he doesnt have the magic back in 2027 camp....he gets released
  21. You're assuming because his recovery goes well that he'll be a viable option. I remember someone posting about how long it takes for WR to get back to to their regular production after 1 ACL tear, that was around 3 yrs. He's blown his knee up in 2 consecutive seasons. It would likely take a small miracle for him to have the same speed/agility/acceleration that he had even last season. And even then like you said he wouldn't be ready until at minimum half way through the year and then another couple of weeks to get back to game condition assuming he doesn't tweak anything like he did last year. I love Schoen...but at some point you have to move on. Bringing Schoen back would be imo pretty pointless.

The bigger problem are all the guys stunting their development because they are going to 7 schools in 6 years. The CFL is always going to only be attractive to people who want to keep playing. It's not life changing money for any American player or QB. Most guys who play QB in NCAA have their families spending as much money on QB and 7 on 7 camps when they are in high school as they will make on a CFL rookie deal.

A rough look at the depth chart with 3 weeks to go until free agency, apologies for any errors or omissions:
  24. 3 points
Hervey is the most overpaid & overrated GM in the CFL now that Chris Jones is gone.
  25. 3 points
Allen on a corner..Griffin at SAM..Woodbey at Will..Kramdi patrolling the middle...Nichols and Holm in their spots..that's a pretty versatile starting core and would allow a lot of different looks Younger could install Now if we get a couple disruptor DT's to go with Lawson...2 ends with motors who can allow WJ to play a limited rotational just get after the QB role with Bailey's unique skill set sprinkled in we could see circa 2019-2021 style defence again
  26. I’m ok moving on from all 3 Amazing news about Vaval. I thought he was going to be one and done and get some NFL looks due to his age, but this is great news. He has a chance to become one of the all time great returners.
  27. 2 points
That's awesome. The existing ones were starting to have problems. Glad they are on top of this
  28. Leg strength isn't an issue really. Consistency, mechanics, style/fit, those have been his question marks. He doesn't have one of those flip field positions when pinned deep in your own zone legs, as Ryan did. But it's more than fine. We aren't that type of team anyway. Early last year and prior to that, he was shanking atleast 1 a game, and pooching ones, leaving the returning running up for a free 15 yards atleast once a game as well. If he keeps that all in the past, he's solid and fits our system well. I'd love to replace him, and love to have a punter who can flip field position. But that isn't super high priority. James evans ended the season on the riders PR iirc, I'd love to have him back in camp again.

Glad to have the kicking team back. Sheahan will never be a guy with a boomer leg, but I thought he was really good this past year especially.

That’s a big haul for Andersson.
  31. 2 points
He did. In camp he played about as much corner as S, maybe a bit more. Then he played both in pre season, and was forced into action at corner for one game before he started at S as well.
  32. wallace played the best of our guards outside of vanterpool. It was his first full season and first time being a semi regular starter. The fire is pretty far from his feet. Eli, is the one who needs to step up most. After that, it’s bryant. We have a good few imps to push him, and we are going to see some very good imp tackles hit free agency. Wallace is more than fine if he continues his progress at the same rate. imo, upfront money is the way to get him and at a good over all price. https://3downnation.com/2026/01/18/b-c-lions-gm-ryan-rigmaiden-sounds-alarm-about-nils-effect-on-future-of-cfl-qbs/ The only thing i’d add to rigmaidens comments is, it’s not coming. it’s already been here. And it’s nil+ nfls expansion of pr and pr compensation. We already don’t see the guys who have any real success at good schools. We’ve lost first and second pick over of the former pipeline schools like bigsky, basically once a qb is 4/5star in hs, we’ve lost out on an opportunity with them unless they fully crash out of the nfl or blow all that money. Even then, the usfl is more attractive to those guys despite the less money. the days of 80-90k qbs with some upside is over. I think a second salary increase should partly be used to split the cap with qbs. The floor needs to be 150-200k for us to attract the talent the league desperately needs. Teams should have a floor 1million on ar qbs. It’s an investment in the league and game it self. 500k for the starter, 250-300k for qb3 and 200-250k for qb3. If your top tier qbs are earning 750k-1million each, instead of 500-700k you have a much better ability to attract young qb with upside talent and success. Yeah. Allen to corner, kramdi to s and griffin to sam would be awesome. pretty much just sergio to re up now
  33. Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-sign American DB Michael Griffin for 2026 CFL season - 3DownNation
  34. Neuf is a steadying influence on the OL for sure. I think he'll have a great season with Koala finally gone. I mean.... Finally.
  35. We also have to sign a FA receiver to push the ball downfield.
  36. agreed... I still think Willie and Big Stan will be back... please give me one big addition to the OL and DL in FA... but otherwise we've signed the guys that needed to be signed and released the guys that need to be released... so far, so good.
  37. To be real greedy, is there potential for him to be a receiver as well? Edit, oh yea they had him playing db, but how about as a receiver?
  38. 1 point
similar vein but less restrictive. The CFL as a whole could benefit from trying to develop QBs. Next time the cap is going up, the league should look at adding an extra roster spot for a developmental QB that is on the roster but is a gameday scratch. Can be American or Canadian. Then teams designate 1 player as their developmental QB. Ideally it's the same player all season, but if you set the salary to say 200k and then just divide it up by the season duration, you'll maybe entice some decent QB prospects who want to continue their career and not make CFL practice squad money.
  39. Guess Vaval took the guarantee over the non guarantee. Or what. Either way great news for bomber fans.
  40. Call me a traditionalist but i still like a kicker with consistent well placed quality hang time kick to help out his cover team. He can do it, i’ve seen it, just like to see it more.
  41. Pretty sure he is toast. But we always like to make sure a guy is absolutely ruined before we give up. He 100% wont be the guy he was before injuries again. Will he ever be a useful player in the cfl again? dunno. We have basically 1 imp wr at this point. Which is crazy. We need more than 1 guy to add. We need 2 starting wrs and a back up. Plus another canadian for depth at least.

Hmmmm interesting let’s discuss this 18 hours a week for the next seven years.

I think the idea of an extra spot for a developmental Canadian QB is a solid idea. I also like the idea of having a higher 1st year salary for some new players like QBs.
  44. I would love to see the TC 1 cis/ni qb allotment carried into the regular season. Free PR spot for 1 ni qb, maybe have it optional and eventually required. Then give an incentive for having one on the AR, maybe their salary doesn't count against the cap as a back up. Then if they start, you gain the di or maybe you can use a nat american even if they don't have the tenure. Could also bake Canadian QBs into the draft pick compensation for starting Canadians.

Yeah shay and Smith need to be integrated and hopefully makonzo is signed and stays healthy He can play corner..pretty much any db brought up here can easily play corner or safety as its pretty much a easy transition for most part coming from the u.s...halfback not so much...

It's GMs like Ed hervey that are irresponsible. You know he'll be throwing money around like it's no tomorrow & have a last place team again.
