  3. Case was decent on returns last year. If they gave him some run to focus on it I'm sure he'd be dangerous but also just get you 10 yards every time. Both Mitchell's are the style of trying to break one every single time which is great the one time every half season they break one, not so great when they lose you 5 yards trying to outrun contain. Cobb had better return #'s on same squad than D Mitchell. Overall I expect our special teams units to be more athletic, physical and consistent. That was really prioritized in the off-season.

  8. yup....and Jackson/Hogan would likely have a lot of offensive touches for him too....dude is explosive If we go into yr with Cobb or Case...thats a big step backward....Case showed nothing other than he was average and had zero explosiveness....Cobb is what he is...serviceable but far from dynamic and far from a field flipper and with one on the roster to be a returner and receiver depth as well is a big ol Meh....we can and should do better Time to move away from the "everyone is a starter" which is horseshit and actually bring in a legit talent....and if it means having to cut bnait with on old retread on downside with zero upside....so be it...

  10. That shift in culture could catapult the Lions back into Grey Cup contention and finally get them over the hump against the team to beat in the West Division. “It’s always Winnipeg,” Covington admitted. I now, like this guy 👆. Hopefully they cut him (like they did to Kongbo) and we can pick him up. 😁✌️

  14. Yeah, I love that they're finally doing away with the 'half the distance' bullshit. I always hated that rule. And honestly I thought the ineligible rec rule was already in place. Once that ball is tipped, it should be game on for everyone.

  16. The eye rolling is because the comment is usually pure stupidity or ridiculous. Yes we all know your opinion of eye rolling, why...we've seen it written many, many times. Fyi you're not right all the time and your opinion isn't fact. You do have some interesting takes and seem knowledgeable at times. Hellybuyck has to be better and stop letting in soft goals EVERY game. Nobody expects shutouts, but it's an uphill battle with him in almost every game. He has to better and there's no indication he will. When it's celebrated that the opening shot didn't go past him, there's something obvious wrong no matter who doesn't want to admit it.

  17. Blue Bombers Training Camp Report | Day 5 - Winnipeg Blue Bombers List getting longer.

  18. It's way too early. The local sports media are all over the Jets. Most outlets only have 1-2 reporters. If Edmonton makes the SCF they are going to have a hard time getting numbers as a league for regular season games. Wish they'd go back to the season starting on Canada Day.

  19. We don't get reports like we used to, from the media or the fans. It's unfortunate. Noeller had to travel halfway across the country just to give us one taste of the kind of reports we used to get on a daily basis. Even Twitter is quiet. If we get four tweets from Derek Taylor that's basically an info bonanza. I'd love to get out for a practice and jot down some thoughts but it ain't easy get out in the middle of a weekday and go down to the stadium to watch football practice. If they ever switch venues to the Rods field I'll be all over it though.

  21. Should have but the new commish likes it for whatever reason. CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston a fan of onside punt rule - 3DownNation I don't think he'll be seeing the field anytime soon so he probably won't have to worry about it.

  23. Only if his feet are on the ground and he is reaching to catch the ball in a prone position. Woli took one of these here that was pretty helacious. In that position, you should be able to continue to close and not need to dive as the defender. Extending grey areas instead of clarifying and intensifying rules. What is late, but not egregiously late? The spirit of these changes is where it needs to be, but it will continue to cause uncertainty for refs. I like the fumble advance change. They should've taken out the stupid pooch kick Montreal play. That crap is bus league by little league standards.

  24. More ways to apply rules they won't understand or refuse to actually apply. Good in theory for player safety but we'll just see fewer flags or more excuses for why the rule doesn't apply. If there's no standard coming from the review booth, won't matter much.

  34. Osh comments on the Montreal dribble thing: respectfully disagree. kudos to Montreal for finding a weird gap in the rulebook and exploiting it, but they've had their fun and I would hate to see a game-winning drive in the Grey Cup feature that tactic.

  41. Eye rolling is for 7 year old girls. If you are a man that rolls your eyes, you need serious help. Oh but I am right because half of you on here probably didn’t even expect them to make the playoffs even. we do need a shutout to win when we have only scored 5 goals in 4 games and 9 in 5 games. For the record I don’t give a **** what anyone really thinks. It’s all irrelevant crap that doesn’t matter. None of us have any say in any of this.

  45. he will be one candidate. Mitchell also returned for Edmonton, case returned for us last year. Sterns has the tool kit, we probably test him too. Jaylen hill also has some kr history, and Harris has an extensive background returning kicks in college. Time to fire up the airlift plane, should look for RB/krs but honestly I think we need to air lift some WRs but maybe that comes from cuts.

  47. Didn't think Patterson was gonna stick around and last....was a pointless signing when you think about it. Pretty sure they wanted to get eyes on Strev in camp to just confirm he good to go, so we didnt have to go in to the start of season with 2 basically rookies behind ZC Wilson showed more than enough last yr to be developed and groomed behind ZC and Strev with big upside...Swapping him for Patterson would have been 2 steps backwards..as his upside has been met....and it's not pro starter ability

  48. Definitely lost some weight, thought I heard some thing but now I’m not sure. Hopefully he’s just working on losing weight and is healthy. The last of a generation of treasures. We will never see the like of him again sadly. Looks pretty close. At this point we are moving guys around and it’s still very fluid. After ps game 1 I think it’ll be more ironed out. Thanks for making the list to keep track. With numbers would be amazing.

  50. I don't think the injuries limited his effectiveness, it's just that you can't build around a guy who misses 10 games a year. When he was on the roster, he was a menace. I hate moving on from a guy like that, but I do get it. I don't think WJ is far off in terms of contribution tbh. WJ stays healthy, but he has huge streaks of zero effect in the pass rush while being a huge liability in the run game. At least with JJ, if he was on the GDR, you knew what you were getting. With WJ, you could get the MODP (which is all too rare these days) or a guy who is only visible when he's getting his lunch eaten in the run game. The number of times teams abuse him on read plays is absurd. I love Willy, and I get why he struggles and coasts at times. He gets slapped next to fellow linemen who can't create enough pressure to squish a Kraft cheese slice. He and our D are hooked on playing his spot for PKD. But the WJ of 17-21 is not gonna come back. The best we can hope for is a stretch like the first 7 games of 23, where he had 8 sacks, 15 tackles, a couple of fumbles, and PKD. Unless he is surrounded by all-star DL and rotated heavily, I don't think he can sustain that for most of a season anymore. I will always prefer to spend the money on the line rather than WRs. Especially in the CFL, where you instantly have room and the ability to create space for guys with the waggle. I love Lawler, Schoen, Demski, etc. But give me dominant line play any day of the week, and twice on game day.
