  1. GO JETS GO! I'll be there at the game tonight! Tighten things up, shut down MacKinnon and we'll be in good shape. Canada Life Centre will be rocking!

  2. It's been said already, but it really is a shame that Brady got robbed of the MOP award. The League could have had a guy who at least appears to be a proud Canadian, playing for his home team and literally rescues puppies, as the face of the league....instead they have a Chad...

  3. He probably also thinks that because Auston Matthews scored in game 2 that Toronto is now going to rattle off 3 more straight wins and beat Boston because Auston Matthews Everyone is so eager to throw away the regular season matchups... but the fact is that the Jets dominated the Avs in all 3 meetings. Also conveniently lost in this, is that the Jets played Colorado's "game" in game 1 and still WON. Jets play Jets hockey the rest of the series, I'm confident we're going to round 2.

  5. Grant is a fearless returner. He hits the hole hard and fast and gets a lotnof big returns as a result.

  7. The guy was a lawyer in Chicago for a few years before jumping into coaching at the NFL level. Very, very sharp guy. The guy knows football. He would have made an excellent CFL HC. It's too bad he never came back. Had he come back, I think he would have had a similar career to John Hufnagel with the Stamps.

  8. The real solution is to just not punt... like that game where we scored on 7(?) straight drives.

  11. That would be hilarious if they gave this award out at end of year. As Garrett Marino was unable to be here, I'd like to call on Simoni Lawrence to present our next award, King Douchebag . . .

  12. As admin time is all volunteer time not sure I'd agree with this.

  13. I get what you are saying, but this was no more dangerous than the vast majority of punt returns imo. Was it necessary? Probably not. Was it excessively dangerous situation? Not really.

  14. They could have given the MOP to Brady who'd be an excellent face of the CFL but they gave it to King Douchebag.

  15. Bombers signed defensive back Isaiah Norman. He's 6 foot tall from Marshall and tried out for the Chiefs last year. Looks like he got into 3 preseason games.

  16. Tait is back with positional previews ahead of the drafts. https://www.bluebombers.com/2024/04/22/positional-preview-1-the-specialists-2/ Not sounding like Janarion is in the plans for the team.

  17. I've got it, they could call it the Ed Philion Award for the CFL Douchebag of the year.

  18. I as gonna say the exact thing....and doesnt hurt to have a backup place kicker in case of an injury...a global punter is a waste unless he is something special and consistantly swings the tide of game in your favour (and that Global would be down south anyway)...a DL guy...DB...gives you way more benefits, and an overall better roster

  19. Then him and Simoni could get into a fist fight over who really deserves the award. Now that's some solid gold TV right there.

  20. The problem is not just the goaltending. The whole defensive structure of the AVS sucks. National media also don't realize that the Jets may not have the top-end league leaders on their roster, but they are deep, and every line can score. I thought the Monahan Ehlers Toffoli line was the best in game 1, and they did not even score.

  21. He has missed big portions of the last 2 seasons to injury and was kind of average last year when he returned from one. I'm thinking teams just want more reliability and Grant's is questionable.

  22. I think Janarian still had more to give. I'm dissapointed to lose him. He was an all time great returner in my opinion. The best I have ever seen in a Bomber jersey, better than Albert Johnson, better than Stokes. Although Stokes was pretty special

  23. Hell yeah. Last year was easily the worst performing sts unit (sans k) we’ve seen under an mos team. It was nuts how much field position we gave away each game when trading punts/kick offs. For sure the janky scheme was part of it. He seemed on board with in early talking about how we were trying some thing different. He has stepped in before to force adjustments on D. Idk maybe he wanted to give enough rope or maybe he thought it could work. Mos will give you all the rope you could ever want to build a noose. Takes a long time to finally hang but it does happen. we also didn’t do any fakes save for the horrific on side punt attempt. We used to keep teams on their toes last year we got real long in the tooth. I think we will see a very different attitude and play style on both teams and D.

  24. and the far too many big returns against, and games where we constantlylost the field position game Getting a productive defensive rotational player on the field for 18 gams, as opposed to a gimmick punter is well worth it i think weith age...and being a yr older for 2025, and the durability issues of lastfew yrs it's probablybthe right move to transition now. Grant is great when he is healthy and playing, but is he at that point with age...and how he plays with reckless abandon just not worth struggling again if he goes out for an extended time?...Always will be one my favorite returners and pound for pound one the toughest...and strongest guys we have seen in recent memory...

  25. That Canadian punter doesn't really exist. There'd be 9 teams chasing that player. The only Canadian punter last year was Jake Julien. Everyone else was Aussie or import. Could try Castillo.

  26. No, I think that's just an evergreen statement.

  27. prob wouldnt have been much as he was on his rookie deal still.....cutting him loose to go with a rookie punter maybe not the best use of roster

  30. Sure, and we might well draft one global punter if the other guys we picked aren’t coming (doesn’t seem like they are) with two kickers in camp though and one punter I don’t think we see more than one leg if that.

  31. Castillo has been a full time punter in the league, he has 134 punts in his career. We also have the rights to 2-3 other global punters from previous drafts.

They showed what they did not have last year: the ability to push back

  34. Anyone else irritated by the fact they got Janarion hurt last year by running him up the gut on a gimmick play? I’m all for using ST weapons as part of the offence, but running a 170lb returner up the middle was very foolish imo.

Helle was pretty good I thought. He made a ton of tough saves. We just got into a crazy firewagon game that we don't normally play. I feel like Bones will get that fixed in a hurry.

  37. IT'S a huge need that wil go a long way in maximizing how/who we roster....that is if we don't do anything riduculously stupid like last yr

  38. Easy. And we wouldn’t have the probably 20+ shanks or ultra low yard boots we saw last year.

Garry Galley (whom is my fave color commenter) put it the best, this game never felt safe. Case in point was when KC put up us 6-3, no way did I feel this game is in the bag. This game's feeling brought back memories playing the 85/86 Oilers. We're up 13-1 going into the 3rd period thinking is this enough? Nope, lost 15-13. I'm exaggerating for effect but not by much.

  40. IMHO Helle gave up 1 he should have had. Georgie 3.

  41. Last year we netted 33 or so on punts. I believe Castillo could do that. With improved cover teams hopefully we are closer to 40. Directionally he's a bit inconsistent. But if it gives you another useful player on D for 20-25 snaps a game...potentially worth it.

  44. I actually dont think right now Haba is our best DE option to ully replace JJ....And thats a good thing, and not a slight on Haba whom if was allowed to have been rostered all last yr would have really developed....but we went a diff route and wasted a yr basially on allowing several players to develop. I think this Yrs DI's will be obviously Castillo....a dedicated returner who can actualy pull signifivant and impactful offensive reps (and i think Cruickshank or Smith may be that guy) at first glance, tho will adjust my opinion after seeing some camp up close Obviously a DE you would hope will be the other and likely a LB ....with Ford back we can go without the extra DB and who knows he may actually win a starting spot on the corner......and if that is the case then we can also rostwr an impact guy who is an import at SAM.....we have no reason or need to go Canadian there if Ford steps up...even if he doent we still have no need to put an extra Canadian there....just because. What we need to do is scrap the Global punter....and use that spot on a DL guy we take in global draft..there are at least 4 guys in that draft group who can make the roster and have meaningful reps on defence....the craptacular punt results last yr wasn't all on the coach we canned, but moreso on personell...and whatever new scheme they wanted to try, which in my opinion coincided with that constant gadget punting we tried over and over...which failed miserably.....sign a cnadian punter who can kick it consistantly 45 yards...with hangtime...and understands positional punting...it's not hard to do...or let Castillo do it...he's above average at it and would offer us probably better results than what we put up with last yr, and free's up another roster spot for another foot soldier
