  4. I do not understand the mixed feelings. Fatboi was one of our best and most consistent players along the line this past year. They signed him to a new contract...they didn't guarantee him every rep of every game. He'll come to camp and compete and if he earns it, he'll get his rotational reps again this year. There is absolutely nothing to be "mixed" about with this signing.

This is such a bullshit boomer argument. I snapped at the in-laws for parroting the false narrative that the NDP were bad for the budget. NDP came into power as oil was cratering. No **** they had a deficit and no wonder the UCP got a surplus when oil bounced back this past year. for 40 years Alberta governments rode the oil royalty gravy train for easy surpluses. The NDP didn't piss away a billion dollars on a pipeline that had no chance of ever being built Trump win or no Trump win. The NDP didn't give away big money in corporate tax cuts to watch businesses still pull up shop and leave. The NDP didn't piss away millions on a do nothing war room to go tilting after windmills. There are elements within the NDP that are extreme and I don't like that, but Rachel Notley showed herself to be a very pragmatic leader in a time when that is in short supply. You are very quick to hand wave away Danielle Smiths so called distractions... but with her it's not really a distraction. This is the reason she never unseated the PCs before when she was running the Wild Rose party. She doesn't know when to shut up. Other conservative politicians play the game and keep the quiet part quiet and work insidiously to undermine our social safety net and public institutions so that the rich get richer, but Smith just can't keep her big mouth shut and spills the beans all the time.

  8. C'mon man, you ain't that dumb. The premier of your province intentionally included that "colourised" black and white photo in her message as a wink and a nod to anyone with racist inclinations that might vote for her. But you're right it isn't "closeted racism", it's blatant.

  9. What's especially a red flag about this is Costanza (can't-stand-ya) has been in the league for a long time and has been considered a bright offensive mind for a long time... he left Calgary because there was no path to an OC job there... and same thing in Winnipeg after one season when Buck had a really good year... so he finally gets a chance at one of only 9 "dream jobs" and says "no thanks"... BTW.... if there was ever a chance we were to lose Buck... Costanza is a guy I was hoping we'd look to bring back.

  10. Remember when Kyle Walters went into the offseason and the one before that and the one before that saying money was tight not sure if everyone can come back... and then retained most of the key pieces anyway? Yeah these guys don't go bragging about how much money they have to spend. If anyone thinks the Bombers don't have the money to keep Kyle Walters well I just don't know what to tell you...

  11. Bit of a reach? If it was entierly a black and white photo- I would agree, too much of a reach... but once you add in the orange highlighting.. yeah that is a ******* dog whistle klaxon horn. It's essentially trying to tie in the NDP with Singh's turban. It's totally "Othering" the NDP. It's pretty on-brand for the Conservatives.

  12. Again, if you do things half assed then this is what happens. Both JOD & especially Dickenson threw his assistants under the bus for his mistakes tnhat he refused to be accountable for. Those guys should have been fired & they weren't. If the HC doesn't have his assistants backs then no one will want to work for those guys. The Riders deserve everything that happens to them.

  17. You’re right, the playoffs are never going to be called the same as the regular season, but can they at least be close to consistent from game to game? Actually, I’d settle for consistency in game. The ticky tac stuff they call early, then turn a blind eye to blatant infractions…. It’s infuriating. You saw how frustrated Scheifele was last night.

This isn't the burn you think it is. It speaks more to the lack of proper parenting by YOUR generation than anything else. Though I will say I think Boomers get way more worked from rage farms than any other generation.

  25. We need a Canadian or Global DE or the DL rotation falls apart. None of the interior guys we have can really handle more than 20-25 snaps a game and none of Canadians are really strong playing Nose.

  26. I mean, we've got Cam Lawson and now just signed Cole Adamson......we ARE attempting to get younger at the position. And if they're good enough, they'll beat out Thomas at camp. It's not like they're guaranteeing anything by signing JT to a one year deal. And in terms of getting more push from the interior.....that's more to do with recruiting an American DT than about who the rotational Canadian is in there.

so much this. Alberta is just like the red state US. Generations of "Our family votes this way always" because reasons. NDP/Liberals = bad because reasons. Generations of "we're so hard done by...all the politicians in Ottawa hate us!" just keeps going on and on and on. I'd NEVER heard any talk of this during my 27 years in Manitoba, but the last 15 out here have been eye opening...

  28. Mixed feelings on this. Like Jake as a rotational player but feel like he may be an older player we are holding onto too long. Then again, believe next season we can rotate a 5 year american vet or a 3 year vet who has been with us all that time with one NI.

  29. Boomers? Stop with the stupid bullshit. There are more 35 plus years old Albertans from your generation that hate Trudeau & Singh's guts than any seniors out there. They're the ones with the **** Trudeau signs on the trucks. The same ones that organized the convoy to Ottawa. We boomers are retiring. Don't blame my generation for the fact your generation are the ones that want that went squirrelly alt right & want to overthrow the federal government. We Boomers have afternoon naps & morning coffee with our fast dying off friends at McDonald's to worry about.

  36. That's not really the point. She continues to set a knuckledragging tone in our province (Alberta vs Ottawa, anti science, anti consequence for actions etc etc etc etc) like it's priority one for the majority of Albertans. It's not. I love humour like the next person but I gotta say its frustrating to hell how she was able to slither her way into a position of authority to breath more life into the mouth breathers with their desecration/misuse of the Canadian flag, their F Trudeau decals proudly plastered all over their trucks and their lack of understanding of anything complex.

Ukraine war: The Russians locked up for refusing to fight Published 15 hours ago By Steve Rosenberg Russia Editor When his son was sent to fight in Ukraine, Sergei begged him not to go. "You've got relatives there. Just refuse," Sergei recalls telling Stas, who was already an army officer. "But he said he was going. He believed it was right. I told him that he was a zombie. And that, unfortunately, life would prove that." Sergei and Stas are not the real names of this father and son. We've changed them to protect their identities. Sergei has invited us to his home to tell us their story. "So off he went to Ukraine. Then I started getting messages from him asking what would happen if he refused to fight." Stas told his father about one particular battle. "He said the [Russian] soldiers had been given no cover; there was no intelligence gathering; no preparation. They'd been ordered to advance, but no one knew what lay ahead. "But refusing to fight was a difficult decision for him to take. I told him: 'Better to take it. This is not our war. It's not a war of liberation.' He said he would put his refusal in writing. He and several others who'd decided to refuse had their guns taken off them and were put under armed guard." Sergei made several trips to the front line to try to secure his son's release. He bombarded military officials, prosecutors and investigators with appeals for help. Eventually his efforts paid off. Stas was sent back to Russia. He revealed to his father what had happened to him in detention: how a "different group" of Russian soldiers had tried to force him to fight. "They beat him and then they took him outside as if they were going to shoot him. They made him lie on the ground and told him to count to ten. He refused. So, they beat him over the head several times with a pistol. He told me his face was covered in blood. "Then they took him into a room and told him: 'You're coming with us, otherwise we'll kill you.' But then someone said they'd take my son to work in the storeroom." Stas was a serving officer when Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February. President Vladimir Putin promised that only professional soldiers would take part in his "special military operation." But by September that had all changed. The president announced what he called a "partial mobilisation", drafting hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens into the armed forces. Many of the newly mobilised troops were quick to complain that they were being sent to a war zone without sufficient equipment or adequate training. From Ukraine there have been multiple reports of mobilised Russian troops being detained - in some cases, locked in cellars and basements - for refusing to return to the frontline. "It's a way of making people go back into that bloodbath," says Elena Popova from Russia's Movement of Conscientious Objectors. "The commanders' aim is to keep the soldiers down there. The commanders know only violence and intimidation. But you cannot force people to fight." For some Russians, refusing to return to the front line may be a moral stand. But there's a more common explanation. "Those refusing to fight are doing so because they've had more than their fair share of front line action," explains Elena Popova. "Another reason is the foul way they're being treated. They've spent time in the trenches, getting cold and hungry, but when they come back they just get shouted and sworn at by their commanders." The Russian authorities dismiss reports of disillusioned soldiers and detention centres as fake news. "We do not have any camps or incarceration facilities, or the like [for Russian soldiers]," President Putin insisted earlier this month. "This is all nonsense and fake claims and there is nothing to back them up with." "We do not have any problems with soldiers leaving combat positions," the Kremlin leader continued. "In a situation when there is shelling or bombs falling, all normal people cannot help but react to it, even on the physiological level. But after a certain adaptation period, our men fight brilliantly." Andrei, a Russian lieutenant, stopped fighting. Deployed to Ukraine in July, Andrei was placed in detention for refusing to carry out orders. He managed to contact his mother, Oxana, back in Russia to tell her what was going on. Once again, we have changed their names. "He told me he had refused to lead his men to a certain death," Oxana tells me. "As an officer he understood that if they went ahead, they wouldn't get out alive. For that they sent my son to a detention centre. Then I got a text message saying he and four other officers had been put in a basement. They haven't been seen for five months. "Later I was told that the building they were in had been shelled and that all five men were missing. They said no remains had been found. Their official status is missing in action. It doesn't make sense. It's absurd. The way my son was treated wasn't only illegal, it was inhuman." Back in his living room, Sergei tells me that what happened to Stas in Ukraine has brought them closer together. "We're on the same wavelength now," Sergei tells me. "The wall of misunderstanding between us has gone. All his bravado has gone. My son told me, 'I never thought my own country would treat me this way.' He's changed completely. He gets it now." "People here don't understand how much danger we're in. Not from the opposing side. But from our own side." Produced by Will Vernon. 40. You're not wrong, he got 25 snaps the 1st game he was activated which was about 32% of Denver's defensive plays. He also got 21 snaps on teams which was good for 68% so quite a bit of game play for him overall. He only 15 defensive snaps (21%) & 3 ST snaps (12%) the next game though.

Trump Brags About Turning Down Deal To Bring Paul Whelan Home In a bizarre rant on his social media platform, Donald Trump bragged that he turned down a deal to bring Paul Whelan home from a Russian prison. Trump wrote on Truth Social: I turned down a deal with Russia for a one on one swap of the so-called Merchant of Death for Paul Whelan. I wouldn’t have made the deal for a hundred people in exchange for someone that has killed untold numbers of people with his arms deals. I would have gotten Paul out, however, just as I did with a record number of other hostages. The deal for Griner is crazy and bad. The taking wouldn’t have even happened during my Administration, but if it did, I would have gotten her out, fast!
