  1. If you're honestly curious (no pun intended) its just about representation. Being gay isn't all that defines Michael Sam, he's more than just a gay man, but he does have the distinction of being the first openly gay football player in the NFL (and CFL), that's just history. It's going to come up when his name does. Sam broke an unofficial barrier that existed in the locker room for a long time Same way Herb Trawick broke the CFL colour barrier in 1946 (no doubt to the chagrin of many people around the country), this matters to the people who once thought 'I'm on the outside, I'm not allowed in'. It's positive to see people 'like you' out there succeeding despite this thing about them (skin colour, sexual orientation) holding them back. We straight white guys would be unlikely able to relate, because we've seen straight white men in literally every imaginable role since we were born With all that said being gay has nothing to do with the position he holds, but people who are gay can now point to Sam and say 'he's doing it, maybe I can too'. It matters to someone somewhere, I assure you

  4. 7. SASKATCHEWAN RODEEM BROWN OL | ALBERTA Originally I had Bryant RB Daniel Adeboboye here as an immediate plus on special teams and possible future ratio changer at running back, but in a weak lineman class I believe no player helped themselves more than Rodeem Brown on CFL Combine weekend. Heading back to U of A in 2022 could drop his stock, but the Riders aren’t in desperation mode looking for a plug and play lineman. They should take Brown, develop him for 2023 and potentially add their centre for the next five years.

    Top 5 Bomber QBs

According to 17to85, there's a discussion on CFL Reddit about top 5 QBs for each franchise, and this has led to discussion in our group chat about the Bombers Top 5 QBs all time.... And it's a tougher decision than you realize. How do you rank sustained success vs short term? A guy like Collaros hasn't been here long but has had a lot of success. Khari and Dunigan had a ton of success but no cups. Glenn was a MOP until Eiben. Etc etc etc. I think, for us, its: Ploen Jacobs Brock Khari Collaros (Clements, Burgess, Dunigan, Glenn all right there, too....)

No, your healthy scratch is being replaced by a d-man we drafted - Samberg. It is an interesting topic. The Jets have drafted and developed 3 legit D-men (Morrissey/Trouba/Poolman) and 3 marginal/potential d-men (Stanley, Heinola and Samberg). In that time, they have only drafted 11 d-men in the first three rounds of those drafts). By comparison, the TBL (I picked the champs but didn't look at any other teams) have made 10 d-man selections in the first 3 rounds of those same draft years and have produced 1 legit d-men (DeAngelo) and 5 marginal (J. Dotchin, N Nesterov, S Koekkoek, L Hajek & Cal Foote). Hedman was drafted in 2009, 2nd overall. I focused on first three rounds, as anything beyond that is a lottery ticket, although Poolman was a 5th rounder, while Nesterov was a fifth and Dotchin was a 6th for the Lightning. You could also make the case that the quality of the 6 Jets D is greater than than the 6 TBL D that made it during that same time frame.

Finland can do whatever the hell it wants, IMO. Russia trying to bully yet another sovereign nation to its best interests is only going to temper said nation's resolve. I think that's only been reinforced now that we've seen what a mess its "special military operation" has been the last seven weeks or so in Ukraine. There's no neutrality to be had with Russia anymore, at least not without Russia having the upper hand in some way. Is that really neutrality? No. I'd say the wheels are in motion for both Finland and Sweden becoming NATO members in the very near future. And Putin, despite his incessant lamentations and objections, has nobody to blame but himself for it. Ironic.

The original premise was that the Jets were the worst at drafting and developing d-men. The analysis was meant to demonstrate that simply isn't the case. As for Poolman, a bottom pairing d-man is still a legit NHL d-man, and he has a 4-year, $10M contract to support that. Also development doesn't only happen once a player reaches the Moose or the Jets. The team's development personnel work with the players on fitness programs, nutrition, etc even when they are playing in the NCAA. I believe one of the reasons the Jets have a good draft record is because of the focus they have put into the development side with guys like Jimmy Roy and Mike Keane.

We've drafted and developed more than 2 full time defensemen in 10 years, they are just no longer with the Jets. Think if you look around the league, you won't find the defence corps of other teams to be much different in terms of who is on their roster right now.

Mezzalira (6-0, 225, McMaster University; born: March 10, 1994 in Hamilton, ON) joins the Blue Bombers after two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders (2018-19) as well as spending last year on the practice roster of the Toronto Argonauts. He has appeared in 22 Canadian Football League regular-season games, all with the Stampeders, and has registered 11 special-teams tackles and one fumble recovery. He was also a member of Calgary’s 2018 Grey Cup championship team in his rookie season. Mezzalira was selected by the Stampeders in the second round, 17th overall, in the 2018 CFL Draft. He played in 28 games over four seasons (2014-17) at McMaster, accumulating 95.5 total tackles including 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and two pass breakups. He led the Marauders with 43 tackles in 2017.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers — OL Cyrille Hogan-Saindon, Laval The 24-year-old was an RSEQ all-star at centre for the Rouge et Or in 2021 and fills a need for Winnipeg along the interior of their offensive line. Laval offensive linemen have plummeted down draft boards in recent years due to injury problems, but Hogan-Saindon is looking to reverse that trend. 18. Winnipeg Blue Bombers — DL Anthony Federico, Queen’s The six-foot-four, 240-pound defender lacks the size to be an every-down player at defensive tackle in the CFL, but I could see him excelling in a rotational role in Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers lost Jonathan Kongbo to the NFL this off-season and need to add depth along the defensive line wherever they can get it. 38. Winnipeg Blue Bombers — DB Daniel Valente, Western The U Sports first-team all-Canadian lack elite size and speed but certainly fits Winnipeg’s mold with high character and football intelligence.

  29. I can't see there being an election next year. That is to say, as long as the LPC-NDP agreement remains in place. As for Poilievre, irrational hyperbole (Justinflation, for example), dog whistles, and empty promises will only get him so far. He should've learned from the last two CPC leaders how ineffective those tactics can be.

I think the issues was the drivers having no idea on what they were doing. They piled a huge amount of snow in the middle of a street (bus route) and left it causing a back up in traffic. Dude got out and reamed them out. I think the issues are they hire new drivers for little money who do a crappy job.

    Covid-19

Philadelphia Restores Indoor Mask Mandate Amid New Wave Of COVID-19 Cases Philadelphia is restoring its indoor mask mandate as the number of COVID-19 cases rise across the region. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health announced the reinstatement of the mandate on Monday, giving residents and businesses a “one-week educational period” to prepare for the change. COVID-19 rates are rising in Philadelphia, with an average of 142 cases per day within the last two weeks and a 4.5% increase in positive COVID tests, according to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. Since the pandemic started, over 275,000 city residents have tested positive for COVID-19, and over 5,000 have died because of the virus. Currently, 76.9% of Philadelphia adults are fully vaccinated, while nearly 94.7% have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Philadelphia has four COVID-19 response levels. The city is currently at a Level 2, which indicates that the average number of new cases per day are less than 225, hospitalization numbers are less than 100, and cases have increased by more than 50% in the previous ten days. At Level 2, masks must be worn indoors, but there are no vaccine or testing requirements for places that serve food and beverages. In the press release, Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney said the city’s response levels “allow us to be clear, transparent and predictable in our response to local COVID-19 conditions.” “Given the recent rise in cases, we are moving to Level 2 in hopes of preventing higher case rates and stricter measures,” Kenney stated. “Our city remains open; we can still go about our daily lives and visit the people and places we love while masking in indoor public spaces. I’m optimistic that this step will help us control the case rate.”

The private contractors are so hit and miss at clearing snow. I had one dude flipping out at the other guys this winter because they were destroying everything and causing a huge mess. I've definitely seen a drop off in care/quality since they have gone private.
