A look at their offseason signings/ moves explains a lot, even taking the adams acquisition out: Acquired Orimolade - an all cfl end Green - Starting Canadian corner Webb - all cfl db (impact on their secondary similar to when we first got Alexander) T Jones, - dependable low cost reciever Rhymes - the list goes on Compare that to Mitchell,White,Logan, Jones, Hagarty, Vaughters etc.4 points

Yep, I've tailgated in at least 8 different lots around the stadium (9 if you include the official tailgate area) and I'm sure there's more that I haven't yet. I hope somebody posts video from a Banjo Bowl tailgate for this guy so he can see what it's supposed to look like.4 points

There's a Schoen interview in the Sun today which would be a little strange if he is injured again. Usually injured guys don't talk to the media. Obviously he isn't 100%, we all saw him pull up at the end of the game, but seems like he is "ok" to me. https://winnipegsun.com/sports/football/cfl/winnipeg-bluebombers/blue-bombers-dalton-schoen-thrown-right-back-into-labour-day-fire?itm_source=index4 points -

I've been to MANY games at McMahon over the last 18 years (...sigh...) and Mark's take here is super funny. They do have a lot of tailgating in their parking lot and area around the stadium (some people just stay in their tailgate and listen to the radio... Don't even go in to the games) but there is just nothing in the league that compares to a) what Wade has developed in the stadium tailgate area, and b) What the fans have set up all over th land near the stadium. I think a lot of people don't even realize how much tailgating goes on because it's not directly on the same property as the stadium....4 points -

people blame the lack of Brady carries on playcalling -- but in an RPO scheme the QB has the option to pull the ball and throw it. Zach gets a vote too on how Brady's used, and given that Brady had beaten the Als pretty much singlehandedly the week before, the Saskatchewan DEs were opting to crash down on the run more often than not. Zach put up some beaucoup yards and three TDs with his arm -- we almost beat them without our best player being much of a factor. Sucks to lose, but we showed we had a passing attack even with our ragtag receiving corps and leaky pass protection, which is way more that what I expected.4 points -
Then it works both ways: The 2018 - 2022 was also team that the HC wanted.4 points

I think they need to try Eli at centre and 100% insert an American at one of the guard spots. That's a far greater concern than any issues at receiver. ZC clearly has some good football left in him, but he needs support. The OL that played yesterday, won't stand a chance against the Stamps' pass rush.4 points -
But it's infuriating to see a QB barely get hit while sliding & it's a 15 yard penalty. ZC & others get clobbered - no call4 points

we aren’t running that much rpo. suitor thinks every pa play is rpo, it isn’t. It’s pretty easy to identify when we do run rpo, because we aren’t very good at it. watch zachs head/shoulders. if he’s looking at brady, he isn’t reading any one on the D. when we run rpo, you can see him stare down the key play on D. usually you would read the edge and bootleg based on his angle or pursuit. For us, we’ve read sam/wil on medium short passes that are quick, and run what I call fake rpo. which is when you go to the huddle with a call change based on pre set alignment. Buck did a lot of this prior to last year to try and speed up getting the ball out. if the slot coverage (half, sam, wil) is too far off, zach throws a snag, hitch, screen etc. it’s a no signal check run from the snap. We used to try and do pin and pull rpos like that especially with strevy going back to lapo.3 points

There are a number of teams...against whom we are overmatched in the trenches Against some...they countered that by using Brady in different ways, and it worked I understand why they wouldn't run him up the gut very much, but it confounds why he doesn't get 15 - 20 touches in other ways3 points

Unfortunately not everyone is capable of that sort of introspection and change. I look at it from a perspective of what I know (broadcasting/announcing) but I'm sure we could all point to people in our given professions who are just not capable of making changes to their process. At some point in their past they enjoyed a measure of success and decided there was never a need to change. I look at someone like Rod Smith. He is who he is. Someone gave him a job which reinforced his confidence in his style/process and he has never changed his style and he never will. Unfortunately he really isn't very good. He may have been good enough when he was hired for his first PBP gig...but he's never even bothered to considered improving/changing. So we get endless repetition of already mentioned stats/facts and non sequiturs. MOS is who he is. He's had success being who he is. I think he feels confident that his process is fine and needs no modification. In his mind if there's issues they lie outside of him and his process.3 points -

Roster turn over only by injury..(don't ban me again @Mark H. as injury is only way we change) or by defection...not from a guy out playing or showing more potential. Many instances of guys out playing vets in preseason...yet never or rarely get kept..or if do don't get a shot and rot on PR Don't have to replace every one at once but 1 or 2 a yr...and your roster fluidity thrives and your depth/backups become actually capable...be it a new face or a vet pushed to backup roll...we fail miserably at that here due to Osh way of rostering and penchant for valuing any vet regardless of skill..its very apparent @wbbfan hit nail on head with his post. Walters needs to step up and be the boss and if he gets resistance by his coach then needs to rectify it And if he can't perform that task the Prez who technically is the owner here needs to make some decisions And as u said here @17to85..standing pat...resting on your laurels and living with your past success thinking it will manifest again...pretty much pushing 6..7 yrs now is just asking to fail...just as your roster has to evolve and change...your way of doing things...how you coach and scheme needs to as well...especially 12 yrs into it...3 points

IMO, there have been 2 major shifts in philosophy: On D, less focus on pressure and more coverage. Richie Hall brought far more pressure, even though he usually had a better secondary than they have now. On O, more downfield passing and less bully bull On STs, interestingly enough, they gone back to more the aggressive style of play we used to see.3 points

Gotta make one post from my banning...wasn't gonna acknowledge the warning but some the dumb posts ...this one in particular was too much He was indeed rushed in early to start yr...said it right outta gate and his play showed he wasn't good yet Reinjured his fresh surgery...came back braced up...huge red flag...should never been brought in again....play showed it as he was seeing ghosts and playing in self preservation mode and really Echols would have offered more with limited time here Landed on it again...hurt...with brace...totally predictable...we won't see him again this yr now...thanks osh And we seen it with him rushed back before from ankle...along with 3 other guys in that Grey cup....yr previous with ZC and his ankle....Biggie...and there were others I know you are a great fan buy u need to take blinders off and remove head from Osh sphincter...just plain stupidity over and over with roster and player use...could have likely ruined Schoens career last night...and for what? Cover ones arse for a weak and depleted lineup? With Nichols bone headed play we still should have been up at that point anyway if not for pathetic offense play calling Or if the HC was alert enough to call a timeout to prevent a too many men penalty or the no end...instead of standing there with his smug but at times clueless look on sideline..inexcusable errors..and lord knows we didnt need to save a timeout for a challenge flag opp...that flag stays glued to his lil shorts more often than not Then going off all defensive on D.Taylor...u signed up for the HC job...deal with the criticism like a pro as you profess how your players should...lead by example...and I see minimal leading by him last few yrs...more coasting and thinking he has the answer...and if not the "room" will find it...and trust me...or don't...but the "room" ain't what a lot u think it is3 points -

no team should continually run an RB up the gut...even the best of the best will fail more than not or get beat to a pupl when thats all you do...and especially with an inferior center We have next to zero variation of runs, and do nothing to play off certain looks and plasy...and when have we seen the Strev package do anything other than a straight hand off...or he keeps and trues to run between center and tackle No naked bootleg...him take off right away with RB in option position....or variations of any of that and him throw....pretty much....never And people wonder why that package sucks...or claim Strev just doesnt have it...he's been set up to fail and teams know exactly whats coming...its pretty easy to defend only 2 variations off a Strev package2 points

Or just demote him...or to save face...as we know Osh won't admit he screwed up...another flaw...just promote Jackson and have them both as co-offensive coordinators The expectation that Hogan wouldn't struggle and look way out of his element with zero real relevant experience was a fools game from the start We dragged our feet way to long announcing a hire...Osh said we in no hurry and its all good...pretty much into free agency...prob a good reason why we maybe didnt land one of those top WR that were Free agents...they wanna know who they gonna be playing for...or the guy we promoted got a big ol no thanks from them...as players aren't stupid either2 points

Honestly too much time was spent living in their glory days of 2019, 2021 etc. Losing by 1 in 2022 with collaros on a bum ankle was the worst outcome. Delayed changes, and the making 2 more cup games just reinforced the idea their core was still good enough. Too little change post 2022 is the problem IMO. Yes I know there has been a lot of roster turnover... but I think a change in philosophy was warranted because steady as she goes isn't working anymore.2 points

Walters also noted that it has become increasingly difficult to get guys to come north because of the new spring leagues, and changes to the NFL roster rules. It's just a lot tougher finding US talent. Having said that, other teams are finding players so we need to do that too.2 points
-
I think that is a symptom of the greater problem. I'm a big fan of both those guys, but in general, since the 19 GC win, we've been losing more than we have brought in. That is across the board and from the roster up to management. From Kongbo, Hansen, Alford, Desjarlais, Stove, Lawler (twice), etc, over to Ryan, Ted, Cyril, Bourgoins, and more. We have hemorrhaged talent in all areas and brought in very little to replace the losses. Championship teams always go through that. But where prior to 19, we played an active role in FA trying to improve, we became complacent and expected that retaining as many of our pieces and developing guys internally would keep us at the top of the league. Problem is, many of our best moves in the mafia era are free agent scores from other teams. Combine that with the fact that our coach wants to ride the old guard into the dust, no matter who is backing them up and what they are capable of, and you have a massive collapse of what should've been the greatest dynasty in league history. The problem is Mos, but it is also Walters. And it's also Wade for not prevent the other 2 from messing up so badly. They need to skip blame (which they would't consider any way) and go right into root cause and repair. Whose replacement makes you better off, today and in the future? Who is easier to replace, and can either be recovered to be top tier in their jobs here again? But I don't think anyone involved is willing to have that conversation yet. It might not even end up being one; it might be Wade getting called into a BOG meeting and getting the choice of who goes. As others have pointed out, the Ham game after the BJB will be a big game for us. 3-5 in our last 8 games. if we win 1 of the next 2, bc/edmonton likely passes us for the last play off spot in the west / the cross over. After that, we had Ham, Ssk, and Mtl, which will all be tough win,s plus ott in ot,t which is always hard for us. The 1 remaining game, vs edm on the road, might not be a freebie either. With 7 games left, 4 wins likely gaurentees the play offs. 3 wins, if we beat edmonton likely puts us in. But in that case, we need toronto to strugle down the stretch.2 points

yeah and he still relying on those same guys for a lot of parts of roster Also coaches need to change thier philosophy and how they go about things too...their process a it doesnt work forever...evolve and adapt or die...and he hasn't whatsoever He was also supplied with players in their prime and best at their posotion...so success should have been the result....they are now not in may instances Historically the trends for sports is after teams start to struggle and fail that a HC change occurs about 80% of the time first...as they are most responsible for game performance...good....and bad.... It's almost always the first move as a G.M switch is more prone for bigger organizational shifting...or change...and most times unless it's real incompetence, there is no evidence right now for that....also a HC firing, or moving on from one is gonna show the team is looking for accountability before blowing everything up...and totally disemboweling your front office...thats just how she goes Coach goes first, and if things continue down same path...or worse...G.M gets chopped If we fail again this yr it's not far fetched to move on from the coach....it's a what have you done business after all....and we failed 3 straight seasons...and the 4th isnt looking super rosey either doubt it...neither of the teams they went to are ripping the league a new arse like were in our prime We brought in a good crew of guys to replace them...and Penn....That excuse is just that...an excuse with no validity to it2 points

IN pro football...a HC will let his G.M and scouting staff know what kind of player and skill set he looking for for about 80 percent of his roster....and the staff will also bring some in outliers they like to fill it out, as well as some prospects....Thats how it works The G.M for the most part isnt out bird dogging either.....not his role. He's more the make it work within budget/sms guy and completes all the trans actions He does not cut guys going over the head of the Coach...nor forces guys on field at the behest of his HC The roster we have/had is the vison of Osh...Not the scouting staff and G.M.....Sure there are some variances here and there and some other circumstances (guys falling in your lap..etc) but they miniscule at best I sure with some questionable stuff there is discussion about it but if the HC sells his point they gonna trust him until that trust wears thin....are we there now?...who knows Top to bottom our staff has failed in several capacities the last 3..4 yrs...G.M to H.C....and they reason/problem/disconnect needs to be figured out lickity split or we gonna see this trend continue The frustrating part save for the real lack of urgency this yr in player signings, or lack there of and coaching...waiting well into new yr for an O.C only to promote a guy totally not ready/qualified for the job, os that we continue to make a lot of the same stupid mistakes/moves over..and over...and over.....which lends one to think this crew in current format has hit it's best before date and has no answer now and needs to be rebooted2 points -

How many weeks ago was everyone on here shitting on Collaros for a first half in Calgary where he was forcing the ball into coverage? You can only take what the D gives. You can scheme to try to open up something vertical (and as you rightly identify you need protection to make that work regardless of what happens down the field) but against teams like Sask and Calgary that play the whole game in Cover 3-4 shells, you need guys to make plays once they get the ball. That's what the sport is. You really need a bust to complete a 12 yard pass on 2nd and 10.2 points -

That's kind of the "roster management" issue that bugs me. Ayres, Weitz, Shay, Smith....can we get a role for some of these guys on D even if they are just setting the edge and pass rushing for a few snaps a game? Use those guys, maybe drop Vaughters and get a real DT out there. I'm watching Jake Kelly get beat twice on the same play by two different receivers literally spinning like a top and wondering why they don't use Shay or Smith for anything. Secondary is the real concern to me. And you can open up a spot there to get another experienced body on by using all the guys in the first two levels of the D. Also Logan...drop him and get Echols on. Echols can return too. If Vaval is playing corner, he shouldn't be returning unless there's an emergency. Or if he's returning, get another DB on.2 points -
