Maybe it’s because we’ve seen the same stubborn loyalty to veterans for a few seasons and some people would like to see the team adopt a slight shift in philosophy so that it could potentially lead to winning the Grey Cup, not just being in it.

Rolling out a lousy depth chart, not sure what to expect but......LFG!!!!!!!!

2 main issues to me are, one WR injury away from Corcoran being out there every play and no DE depth for 2 guys in their 30s.

Because the DL depth sucks on the depth chart... they've got a linebacker listed as the only backup DE... they've got 3 Canadian DTs for some reason instead of proper DE depth. We can quibble about whether they made the right choices in terms of players at db or lb but what they did with the DL is a god damned disgrace from a positional perspective.

I’ll never understand these type of posts. The majority of us are just shooting the **** offering up a variety of opinions on the great, the good and the bad of certain aspects of the BB. Its where we come to escape and play gm/coach/consultant. And my opinion with lots of in-depth analysis behind it is BC sucks.

I think the biggest playoff problem at qb has simply been Zach has by and large sucked in the big games.

Lawson and Ayers too. Plus if things went haywire with injuries they'd roll with the 30 fronts exclusively. Kornelson might surprise some people. Look at who is getting picked and not in CFL Drafts these days, and who is getting cut. There's no participation medals anymore. I haven't seen many DT's come through Canada West who were as disruptive as him. He's not just a gap filler, he'd finish as many plays as the Bisons LB's. Huge motor, great tackler. Strong as ****...think he has multiple weight room records in the Bisons room. Faster than Schmekel, stronger than Schmekel, more explosive than Schmekel.

Why is the depth chart lousy cuz the guys who complain about literally everything says so? Cuz why. Guys who they hype up aren’t on the AR yet? Cuz ppl complain about let me guess. Cuz Jake Thomas right. Or cuz a rookie American rb isn’t on the roster eventho we have the best rb in the league. But hey Greg mcrae cuz that worked out so well or wait Damian Jackson who actually played special teams and made some tackles. I mean why is the depth chart lousy ? Cuz 4 ppl say so?

It’s really not even that bad, so I don’t get why people are whining about the criticism. Sterns/Mitchell/White is likely just preference. Corcoran being the backup receiver, who cares? That’s the nature of the CFL. Nobody would care about that if he was American. The defensive choices are what confuse me and always will. I don’t see a world where Jordan Younger loves the defensive lineup and wouldn’t change anything about it - he stresses versatility and we hardly have any on the DL.

The thing is ... Virtually everyone in here is in agreement about how the roster is being deployed. If you're the only person saying "this is fine..." then maybe it's you...?

Bailey for Kornelson would give an extra pass rusher which makes sense since we have 2 30+ DEs. Cobb for say Novak would mean we have 2 back up receivers which seems prudent. But what do I know, I'm just a fan on a message board. I should just shut up and listen to The Leader.

Why not both?

Sterns had an interesting college career, he played for Western Kentucky and he had the highest receiving yardage total, receptions and touchdowns in the entire NCAA in 2021 with 1902 yards and 17 TDs on 150 catches. I don't care what league you're playing in, those are crazy numbers... Especially for a guy who is barely 5'8". I'm not going to judge him on what he did in Sask on a mess of a team. I think there is some great potential there.

Giving him 3 recievers who couldn't run in 23' didnt help him either...who made that brain wave decision...oh yeah...osh

Wheatfall absolutely won a spot in the starting lineup in preseason. If he can take a step that's huge for the offense.

I just hope he plays QB and doesn't end up bull rushing much at all.

Personally I'd have gone white as the vet receiver, but that is minor IMO. The big issue, as it was last year is decisions in the front 7 on D, defensive line in particular. Basically they are saying "we are OK with Thomas playing the whole game if we need and we don't need depth there". Which is ludicrous when you look at the ages of the starters....

FWIW....Sterns, Mitchell and White are all within about 3 yards per game average in their CFL careers. So fair to say nearly exact same level of production in 23, 32 (White) and 45 CFL games. IMO keep/roster the guy the QB's want/mesh with and who fits the offense....which we haven't seen yet with Hogan scheming and calling the plays.

They don't have much of an idea around the Offense though. Rookie OC with new weapons at his disposal. WPG has been able to watch what BC did last week and know what Buck likes to do better than anyone. Just need to stay away from turnovers.

Iron man sure. Level of play is my concern. And it's been gradually dropping since 2022 IMO. Which means he's still a good player, but eventually won't be good enough. We've basically lost the past three Grey Cups because we couldn't pass protect well enough to score more than a couple TD's. Yeah D could have made the big play in the close ones, but we could also score a hell of a lot more. We have 11-12 starters who have changed over since the 23 Grey Cup. 22 different players on the game roster. There has been a lot of turnover, whether it fits the narrative or not. And I 100% agree that there could have been more or different guys kept, let walk.

From the interviews I’ve heard from our OC and O’Shea they believe Strev can run our regular offense. No gimmick plays, or deployed as a glorified running back.

Considering Lawson is possibly going to be eased in...and Kornelson....well is a huge question mark...showed less than Schmeck...and he didnt show much...so that reeks of Thomas being on the field.....alot

To be positive, looking forward to seeing if Wheatfall takes another step this season, how Vanterpool and Randolph look on the oline, if Wallace can get some run on the oline and how Smith and Shay progress.

The CFL as a whole really de-emphasized the pass rush in 2024. Bombers rushed three on a ton of downs last year. Maybe a reason why the DL looks thin?

Coaches coach better same thing happens. Before last year, we played it pretty close down to the wire and came up short. Coaching would've made a bigger difference in those years. Last year was such a mess of poor play and coaching, but we should've been able to beat up on a team QBd by arbuckle.

WELL...we chose not to dress any actual back-ups...we had several on PR....so is that a lack of depth...or a lack of roster judgement?? Same with this yr...we have a guy on the PR....with experience....who can play ST...but we choose to roster a raw rookie who to be honest.....has the least skillset of any receiver we have kept.....while we rostered 17 LB'S/DB's....

He's a YAC guy. Probably not a bad fit with Streveler but Collaros with both OC's has been a guy really locked in on vertical. Get him big guys.

Yeah and go after nfl cuts aggressively if they fit our need. Idk about Lofton. Fringe guy missing this chunk will have a serious uphill battle. Unless Randolph fails, he’s gonna be in a bad spot in a month.

We're $400,000 under the cap so... The personnel decisions being made by the Bombers Walters & Osh are just head scratching. Make no sense.

I met the soon to be mother of my child at the Bomber game against B.C. our first date was August 3rd 2023 We beat the Lions 50-14, I had my last ever first date, Less then 2 years later, we have season tickets together, we bought a home, and we’re expecting our first kid together. A lot do amazing memories In a short amount of time, especially against the B.C. Lions! Go Bombers!

8 rookies by my count. Plus guys like Wheatfall, Bridges, Vanterpool and Randolph stepping in as starters. I think in some ways people's biases toward what they think the biases of O'Shea are is colouring their view. But for sure there's some guys on there vet for the sake of a vet because the DC trusts them. Bryant and Neufeld scare the hell out of me. They've been have trouble putting together more than 8-10 solid games a season the past couple years. But they are building a team. Not just slapping together the most impressive looking athletes and sending them onto the field. This team has had a lot of changeover in the past couple seasons. I'd argue they probably could have kept Lawler and Wolitarsky, and maybe that's what you're alluding to with the discussion about $$$.

Hopefully big improvement there this year with Shay and Smith. Kelly and Makonzo once they are healthy too

Has anyone gotten over Depth Chart shock and excited for the game? I'm experiencing depth chart fatigue. Not happy about it but it is what is it.

Players play better we win... maybe better roster usage nets those few plays needed...

We used all our roster flexibility to put every backup possible at LBer and DB. And to start 3 American ol. Maybe its a decent chance this doesn't end up biting us in the butt. But boy is it risky, especially for the game 1 roster. Just 1 or 2 injuries for the game at positions other than DB/Lber would have us cooked.

I get the frustration but the signing bonuses are a sunk cost no matter who plays now. Mitchell got 63K upfront, 148K overall, so $85K for the season, ~$4.7K per game JJones got 15K upfront, 120.5K overall, so $105K for the season, ~$5.8K per game. It's game 1, so $10.5K to sit. *numbers from 3downnation so who knows if accurate Sorry. I'm an accountant. FWIW I really want to see JJones play and would prefer him on the roster. Hope he gets in soon. Mitchell it sucks to burn the bonus money but whichever of the 3 vet receivers brought in showed the most in camp gets to play. Overall much better depth position than last year at receiver and LB.

veteran insurance is nice...when that insurance is capable....and you dont need an overload of it either...you need the new breed to work through games and get experience and confidence You get none of that in practice....it's rare to show anything and running drills in skelly aint gonna replicate what a guy can...or cant do under live fire
