  1. Man I don’t like the auto scrimmage from the 40 after a td. Maybe if it’s a none offensive td and make it automatic after a fg. I’d rather move the teams closer and make it slower speed for td kick offs. And or the no one can move until the ball is caught. Kr is a pivotal part of the Canadian football identity.

  2. A MBB tradition, it's the Game 69 thread Time: Thursday, 1800, TSN3 Stats: 44-19-5 @ 33-32-4 Streaks: W3 @ W1 Last 10: 7-3-0 @ 3-7-0 Game Notes: Brossoit needs to play 7 of the last 14 games for the Jets to be eligible for the Jennings trophy. Toffoli’s 800th game.

  3. For sure. I looked hard at both those draft boards and I am not seeing any gems that we passed on. Just a butt load of unrecognizable names behind our picks even a couple years after the draft. 2022 we only had one pick in the first 3 rounds and we took Tyrell Ford which is a really solid pick, and let's be real we are not finding future starting potential beyond the first 3 rounds....or at least that should not be anyone's expectation. A lot of people getting on about Schmekel and Bennett but I'm not seeing anything better behind them really. just looking at the round by round draft and I think every GM in these 2 years are probably disappointed after round 1.

  4. This is an insane take. Have you never heard of Chris Benoit? I've met several people (mostly wrestlers) and MMA/Kickboxers with CTE and it is very obvious that some of them cannot process or think properly and have something very off with them. I've also visited nearly every reserve in Manitoba numerous times and what you are saying is something completely different. Some reserves are fantastic and others remind me of the original Mad Max movies. For the bad ones usually it has rampant corruption within the reserve where they maintain terrible traditions or behaviours such as pimping out girls when they are 8 years old to friends/family, lots of alchoal and abuse, lots of extreme neglect, all while the bad people are protected by the elders. Lots of suicides are a result from extreme depression and extreme abuse without being able to escape because everything is covered up. MMIWG exists because nearly every case is someone within the reserve committing the crime with others covering for each other. It's really sad. Suicides in reserves are primarily with younger people , I remember 5 or so years ago visiting a reserve where they had an epidemic where 20+ teens committed suicide over the course of one summer. Naturally the news never covered it. Usually for the people who can escape these places and find success in life do not commit suicide when they are 50+. It seems far more plausible that CTE would be the reason. Many times it is a vicious cycle where someone is in extreme pain from the CTE so they take drugs and the cycle continues to a point where they are so messed that they usually OD.

  5. Only thing I'd do for kickoffs is not allow the cover guys to move vertically until the ball is kicked. Would open up returns a bit and reduce speed of collisions. Not a fan of the XFL setup. Think you can accomplish the same thing but still allow a wedge.

  9. Of course you can find those outliers. But you can’t rely on finding that soo far down. That’s why we generally see a run on long term nfl talent right around that point in the draft. It goes from a trying to win on a scratched to a lottery ticket to keno. Off the top of my head our best late late pick under walters has been exhume a career teams guy. Albeit a damn good one.

  10. No, that 🤡 is Purifoy, I believe. Leonard hasn't peed in 8 years to avoid getting tested. Then he berated the poor staff that had to collect the sample.

  13. I really believe this is the case, and not Walters suddenly forgetting how to gauge talent...

  14. They're just jealous. They get all the hype every year past couple seasons only to have the Bombers punk them in the games that matter.

  15. Yep and there are often reasons why a guy is available later in the draft (like NFL interest for example). Eli may have gone in the 4th round but he's not a 4th round guy, talent wise. If anyone else in the league had any idea that he was interested in playing ball again, he would have gone way higher than he did.

  17. Probably based on the NFL study that indicated that was the case. https://operations.nfl.com/updates/the-game/nfls-prioritization-of-player-safety-leads-to-promising-injury-data-for-2023-season/ Maybe it's the CFLPA pushing for the change, cause I can't see any GM's being overly concerned.

The cheers were quite loud when the jets scored so not everyone in NY Is insane.

  20. Yes, Winnipeg isn't supposed to win in New York. I still remember when we won in New York in 1979 in our first year in the NHL, which wasn't supposed to happen. The ref (I think it was Bruce Hood) talked about how he got death threats after the game.

The whole play was strong. Josh’s pass was sweet. Jets deserved the W. Regardless of who they play, they will be hard to beat 4 out of 7 games. I honestly think they are Canada’s best chance in a long time. depth is there. The D play is there. Ppl look at shots but lots of those are coming from far away. I think I saw we had 15 high danger chances and they had 3. Thats pretty wild. We pretty much shut the rangers down for 57 minutes at msg.

  22. Comes off sounding like a tool who didn’t get his way. Probably a comment better left kept to himself, can’t see other GM’s particularly happy with those comments.

  23. Is it still driving up the price when he signed here for much less than what they offered? Maybe to an extent but he was still in line for a big bump. I guess we'll never know what he could have signed for if not for teams like the Lions. Also way to pat yourselves on the back guys. You made the 2nd highest contract offer (Hamilton offered more per year - $275k vs BC's 250ish) so if anyone was driving up the price, it was the Ticats.

  24. Wasn't Osh who made any comment about how we will draft. It was Walters. He stated that "our kind of guy" is one that is physical, tough, and loves to play the game. I see nothing wrong with any of that being a prerequisite for any of our draft picks. If you want to attribute it to Osh, and move the goal posts on what was said have at it though, I don't see Walters as a guy who is leaving talent on the board at the draft. Yea, he had a rough draft last year but so did every other GM. It was an awful draft year. Winnipeg is also happy that BC lost out on the bidding for BO's services. I guess this is a win win....actually nope...the Lions lost and are apparently giddy about it.

  27. I'll tell ya... I was at a concert in Commonwealth last summer that was a sellout... so 60k+ in the seats, plus the field was full with "floor" seating. It was bonkers in there... it's quite the atmosphere when they DO fill it....

  29. Maybe it’s me but didn’t notice many of what they mentioned during kick returns. Yes there were hits and stuff but in football you can hit people and the ppl being hit know that so I don’t see the problem. Keep it as is. Kick returns is what makes the cfl different than the NFL. Gizmo or Keith Stokes. Grant. The dude from Ottawa before. I mean. Those are get me out my seat plays. The media pushes it more than the league tho. Not sure why. It’s a contact sport. But in reality you can get injured pretty badly crossing the street. Or get a concussion from golf if a ball hits you in the head, so. I don’t get it.

  30. "As per Osh" were your words, not me putting words in your mouth but I agree that Walters has been part of our poor roster management equation as well. I agree to pick the best player available, and I am not entirely convinced looking around the league that they didn't. This year is supposedly a deep draft, if all they come out of it with is teamers we will know whether they purposely picked teamer type guys or that's all that was really available when they picked. I would bet big money on us picking guys that would best help our club on every pick we've made over the past couple years. Unfortunately, the last 2 drafts did not have much depth at all because of the covid deferring.
