    Covid-19

Just got a call from Alberta Health Services. I tested negative for the Covid 19 virus. Although I can now say that I do have a cold. Which tells me how easy it still is to pick up the virus as I have not gone out much the past 3 months & I carry hand sanitizer in my car. I also wash my hands as often as I can. The virus is invisible so we don't know where & when we touch it on an exposed surface.

Ricky Ray was infuriating as it seemed like the guy could always find the open receiver and drop it perfectly into his hands. After years of guys like Brink skipping the ball into the dirt it was very hard to watch Ray beautifully lay it into a receivers hands in stride.

I will disagree... I found a lot of Durant's success was him hucking the ball in the air and his receivers making big plays for him. When the receivers wouldn't make the plays he struggled.

It's going to be a long four months: Trump and Fox News just keep ramping up the racism Desperate to distract from the coronavirus catastrophe, Trump and his media allies are going full-on rabid racism So now Trump, aided as usual by the massive propaganda apparatus at Fox News, is pushing all his chips on the bet that just enough voters in swing states will disregard all these failures, so long as he keeps escalating the racism. There's no real evidence this will work — his efforts to whip up racist hysterics about a "caravan" that was "invading" the U.S. in the fall of 2018 (it was really a small group of Central American refugees fleeing from violence) did nothing to prevent the Democrats' big midterm win — but Trump is a dull-witted man with few real ideas. Racism is all he has. And if racism isn't working yet, Trump clearly thinks that piling on more and more of it will finally turn the tide. On Tuesday night alone, Trump — who clearly isn't sleeping much, based on his Twitter patterns — went buck-wild with the overt racism. Around 9 p.m., Trump tweeted that at "the request of many great Americans who live in the Suburbs" he is "studying" (ha) "the AFFH housing regulation that is having a devastating impact on these once thriving Suburban areas." The reference may be a little obscure, but the intent definitely isn't. Trump is referring to an Obama-era rule to enforce the 1968 Fair Housing Act, aimed at ending racial discrimination in housing. Or, to put it more bluntly, Trump is suggesting that it ruins suburban life if Black people move in, and he's eager to do whatever he can to stop it. (Trump himself was sued by the Department of Justice for refusing to rent to Black tenants in the 1970s.) Trump's administration has already put a pause on enforcing some Obama-era rules to desegregate housing, even though evidence shows that there continue to be dramatic levels of discrimination against Black people seeking homes to rent or buy. The administration has made some noises to make these moves somehow sound not-racist, but Trump's unsubtle tweeting suggests he sees the racism as a selling point. His theory, one supposes, is that white voters will thrill to hear he's working to keep Black people from moving into their neighborhoods. Later that night, Trump threatened to defund the entire U.S. military if the Senate tries to rename military bases that currently sport the names of Confederate military leaders. Again, not exactly subtle. These bases should never have been named for traitors who took up arms against the U.S. government and killed hundreds of thousands of patriotic American soldiers in the name of white supremacy. With this threat, Trump is pretty clearly saying that racism matters more than patriotism, which is turning out to be a pattern with him. There are reports that some members of Trump's staff think that going full-on white supremacist is a bad look — anonymous White House staffers recently told reporters that they spent three hours trying to get Trump to take down a tweet featuring that infamous video clip of golf-cart-riding supporters shouting "white power" — but the biggest hosts at Fox News think this ramped-up racism is a winning strategy for their orange reality-TV president. https://www.salon.com/2020/07/01/its-going-to-be-a-long-four-months-trump-and-fox-news-just-keep-ramping-up-the-racism/

  8. Best pure precision route runner & as good a hands as I've seen as a receiver was Eskimo's George McGowan. Corners who were more athletic & faster had a hard time covering him. Caught the ball in a crowd or in a small window.

There is a phenomenom called "fishing in troubled waters" wherein someone deliberately incites conflicts in order to intervene to affect events to their benefit. This has been the Russian aim, and it has been adopted by American interests such as the GOP, the Koch brothers and so forth. Times of turmoil can often cause the fearful to look to a strong leader or one perceived as strong and delegate their thinking and power to that person. If Trump and the GOP incite hatred and ensuing chaos, it can served their ends as well as a victory at the polls.

I am not a trump lurker but I will say one thing after reading the Bolton book: Trump was dumb to hire a lunatic like Bolton but he wasn't dumb enough to spray bombs over the Middle East like Bolton wanted. Trump -- despite his big talk -- doesn't appear to have a boner for a shooting war in the Middle East and that's one giant improvement over the last GOP administration. And would Bush have been competent with the coronavirus? Remember how those goofs completely bungled Hurricane Katrina? How the FEMA dude was a patronage appointment and how he did a heckuva job? Maybe Bush could've convinced America to wear a mask, though I agree that Trump is fresh high-pressure sewage contained in some kind of structurized human skin costume ... but the GOP as a whole is composed of devilmen, gentlemen criminals, Jim Bakker, and Mammon worshippers. That's been true for quite some time now and those devilmen and criminals did a great job grooming the USA for a tough-talking marshmallow like Trump.

  30. Just a hunch but don't be surprised if the cap is shrunken to at least $4 million maybe less. Every player will have to take huge pay cuts. This was done in the early 90's when the SMS came into being. Players had to suck it up.

  32. BC's problems went far beyond paying too much for their QB. Too much change. First year of a major rebuild without Wally for the first time since 2003. Rookie coaches including the HC that couldn't figure out how to turn things around when they started going badly. Think back to MOS' first year for comparison. Horrible OL that suddenly got better when Kelly Bates finally replaced Bryan Chiu mid season. JJ as the OC who couldn't or wouldn't change the offence so their expensive QB didn't get killed game in and game out. Even fans know you have to have a running game and you can't throw bombs all day especially when your OL is truly horrible. A change to quick passes, adding screens and draws would have saved Reilly from getting killed, which in turn coulda changed the outcomes of some of their games, especially in the first half of the season. A defence that consistently gave up 30+ points till game 10 by which time their season was pretty much over at 1-9. Tons of injuries on a team that didn't have quality backups (This one is partly due to over paying Reilly and partly due to being the first year of a rebuild).

  35. yEAH....I think mentality and reality set in and it's become apparent in the sports world now that excessive spending doesn't work now...Many leagues are realizing this...The positive post Covid world tho for the CFL is going to be the reality that it's NFL...or CFL and that will be it..highly doubt any upstart league will come around for a while now..id ever and even so...won't be able to out price established vets, and young up and comers in the CFL The top end guys will still get the nice deals, (not crazy money like the last QB free agent frenzy) but established guys will be in the 400 to 600k range and thats sustainbable, and top tier defensive guys and offensive stars are going to all be sandwiched in the 150 to 250k range and thats also very manageable for teams to have some guys in that salary range (albeit not pulling a BC and hamstringing yourself) Once all the dust has settled I think this will have been a good thing for the league..an eye opener for teams...and players...and a better sustainable business model will be in place. The league average As well as minimum wage will be higher, making it more attractive to new players to come up...allowing for league to discover/develop new stars, and you will have a lot of hungry player putting in the work with the knowledge that if they show they belong they could supplant higher priced aging players...which in the end is good for the league...the teams..and recruitment

  36. Have to agree with Swervin Mervyn. I met him at the IGF Packers Raiders tilt last year. He is a very large guy and massive mitts. Said to him “nice to meet you Sir. But I have to say I hated your guts. You’d pick us apart and were unstoppable. It’s my pleasure to meet you”. Well he bust out laughing and responded, “you know how many people today have said they hated me (Lol)”. I really did hate this guy back then. “Granny” Liggins - quick off the line and teammates of the great Wayne Harris and John Helton. Granville had eye problems and had to wear shades while on the bench. Tom “Wilkie” Wilkinson. Too slow, too short, too swollen, couldn’t throw, though he won. Matt Dunigan, when ever he wasn’t a Bomber. Angelo “King Kong” Mosca. Because he was a wrassler too.

    Covid-19

You bet I did. I called them Monday morning & spoke to a loss prevention officer. Then in the afternoon when I got home from my Covid test I got a call from a senior manager expressing her regrets & apologizing for what happened. She said protocols in place were not followed & that action will be taken. She said they know who the clerk is. She asked if I could call her once I get the test results back & I said yes. I said I'd let her know. If I get sick I don't know if I can sue. I'm hoping my test will be negative. Meanwhile I've been told to self quarantine until we know for certain if I have Covid.
