2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season

I don’t necessarily think that’s entirely fair to say. It’s going to be a long road back personnel wise before any coach (O’Shea included) has success here. Despite what O’Shea thinks, we need a total overhaul. The roster is ancient and being held together with duct tape and chewed gum.6 points

I was looking at the 2021 CFL all stars. The Bombers dominated the west with 15 (4 this year for comparison) and the thing that is really crazy is we had 6 out of the 9 available spots on the O-Line and D-Line, and not a single player this year in either of those positions btw, it all starts with the complete overhaul in the trenches, to me there’s not a single starter that should feel 100 percent safe on both sides of the line except in my opinion Cam Lawson.5 points -
In the CFL a full team can be fixed within 1 season. When a team lacks in only a few areas then it is much easier.5 points

That's pretty much what most people here are saying. If MOS is not willing/able to make those much needed decisions, then like it or not, we need to part ways. If he can do that though, he should be brought back ang given an opportunity to right the ship. But I would be having that conversation before any extension is given.5 points -
I think he's dead... if I recall correctly, Bridget shot him and Ray took the fall.... could be misremembering...4 points

A combination of Khari Jones and Jarius Jackson will be a lot better than O'Shea and Hogan.4 points

Looking at the overall picture, let's be honest, we're not an attractive place to land anymore ...When you're a winner it's easy to pick up quality players in fa, players also want to remain with a winner....Quality draft pics want to be welcomed by a team like we were....'were' being the operative word...We have a tough road ahead in just keeping our talent, as other clubs are looking a heckuva lot better in a lot of respects....I don't envy Walters this off season.....with the changes that need to be made and to present a club worthy of the fans in the Peg, it's all uphill......With that in mind I hope the club is going to be in rebuild mode 'early' and settle the coaching staff question marks pronto so nobody is left 'hanging'.....fans included3 points

It's pretty bad. We don't have a single OL I'd rate as "good." Canadian depth on O is basically a 29 year old tailback and a 32 year old receiver. We're winning right now by 1 of 3 ways or a combination: elite special teams/D turning ball over or scoring points and basically shutting teams out, Collaros playing unconscious. We don't have anything consistent on O going on almost 3 full seasons. Our D is also crazy inconsistent.3 points -

we really should have made a statement the week following the playoff exit...id we dont make it the week following the Cup....We can expect more the same.....missing out on some quality coaching prospects....some for sure player exodus...the ones we dont wanna see exit...and a sad vet laden lineup with aged out guys...Osh fav's and loyalists and a team with minimal depth, and no desire to integrst new blood in...unless forced to with injury...hate to be a debbie downer but you can almost book it I will gladly eat crow....pile of used sweatsocks...whatever....but until proven otherwise....Can't see it...and havnt been far off the mark on the prediction i started drumming after the 2023 joke of a Grey Cup and season end3 points

he’s like krampus, he shows up occasionally (once per 5 years to a decade) to remind us of our own futility and to give a bit of hope when he leaves. I love the guy on tsn, I’d love to see his youtube channel take off. I wouldn’t be stunned to see him back here, but I really don’t ever need or want to see that. He would’ve been better than sulk hogan though Please don’t suck bc. Please go in and mop the floor with the riders2 points -
Change is probably needed but let's not kid ourselves that things can't get worse. All it takes is one bad hire to send us back to 4-14 land for half a decade.2 points

Dammit.....hahaha All jokes aside...if we want to give new blood a chance...like we did with Osh...he'd be a good choice Also has a better resume than Osh did..was a HC in university in Canada...as well as varied pro coaching positions...and respected and liked by players...and is known2 points

Last I heard they were desperately attempting to paper the place because tickets sales were so low. Michael Ball posted something in his socials about an organization sending him (and everyone on their mailing list, presumably) an email to offer 4 free tickets to the game. The nonsense idea that Sask is some mecca of Canadian football is long dead and gone.2 points
-
The same wilful blindness and stubbornness that O'Shea used to create this current mess will not allow him to acknowledge it or change his M.O. Sad to say, the longer it takes for a definitive statement about the GM and HC positions, the more probable that there will be no change. That would be a huge mistake and will be reflected in the efforts and successes of the players in 2026.2 points

I don't necessarily think it's as bad as all that. Needs some significant tweaks but they're not like they were when oshea started.2 points

That’s just it. When the team was at its best, they had 2 very good co-ordinators and no less than 3 all star/HOF level players on each side of the ball, all around their prime. (Biggie, WJ, BA, Jeffcoat on D. Andrew, Yoshi, Bryant, Lawler on O) The team was primarily built through FA, with a lot of Ringmaiden-era holdovers making up the bulk of rest of the roster. MOS has a lot of faults right now but really, unless the personnel department hits a bunch of home runs, it’s going to be a couple rough years no matter who’s coaching. This is key as well, they screwed around soo much last offseason.2 points -
and smart organizations....dont make shifts when everything is already in the dumpster and may take yrs to get out of This has been a 3...now 4 yr degredation and no deviating really from the root cause, or the common issues/concerns that have led to the quick decline....If the band-aid needs to be ripped off and allow the heaing to happen then some of it needs to be done now....and similar issues or decline next...then G.M is next in cross hairs Players arent happy....some....the ones who know they safe due to recent history will chime in they want the band all back together...When your hometown star...bell cow RB nad face o team is saying show me you serious here or I am outta here...thats a huge red flag...And be clear....he's not the only one feeling this....just the one who was out front and frank about it...if you were watching and listening since last cup loss, and this yr...others have alluded to it...without pout right saying it 5 cup appearances...with the 2 wins eons ago now in the sports world but a constant slide in the wrong direction....and stubborn stupidity/blindness to it....but a lot of excuses....well the good will has long dried up saying...and actually doing tho...2 different things.....and history shows us he set in his ideal and ways...and why risk it with an extension only to maybe have to can him a yr into it and be on the hook for his salary...further delaying and hindering any quick turn around....just not worth the risk...I can see your point...But he has had ...2...3 yrs to turn it around....instead he has almost drove it into the dirt2 points

We can't drag our feet...that's part of the reason we had to settle with Hogan...also why we ended up missing on some FA's I think when Wade took over things shifted a bit in regards to the BOD He essentially has say over the football ops. He may run things by to get a feel or let em know..but football related stuff is his domain...the way it was before was why we were in the state we were Yeah..he has too much say...and no real feel on the pulse...and things coming out and rumblings I hear is his way on going about things in some instances doesn't sit as well as before...and interestingly enough more so with some vets2 points

"I’ll admit I thought first about O’Shea when the Dinwiddie news broke, but the more I thought about it the less I thought it was a good fit. Given the small-world nature of the CFL, the Argos are certainly going to inquire and should know his interest soon. I don’t see O’Shea in Toronto being a good fit for several reasons, the biggest being O’Shea doesn’t seem to do well with change. There are too many variables for him to manage with a new organization, even if he is familiar with the team. O’Shea finally got the Bombers to the top of the three-down mountain after some lean years. Winnipeg’s ascension, however, coincided with the arrival of quarterback Zach Collaros — a trade O’Shea didn’t approve before it was made. I’m not sure O’Shea would be able to do the same for the Argos, mainly because they don’t share his strong desire for continuity, constantly overhauling the roster each year. I couldn’t think of anything more anti-O’Shea, and I don’t see the Argos ownership caring about a culture change." https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2025/11/05/coaching-dominoes-begin-to-fall2 points -

I'm not 100% opposed to OSH returning if he can show that he can make changes needed. If he can't recognize that Hogan was a mistake and wants to keep continuity there, then I think OSH should be shown the door. Hamilton's column in the Freep today talked about why he didn't think OSH would go to Toronto. Basically saying that OSH wouldn't want to be in an environment where he had to make lots of changes and couldn't keep with continuity. Good description of OSH but also good reasons why we need to move on here.2 points -

Oh, I'm fine with MOS back if he fires Hogan and gets a real OC and he starts saying bye bye to the aging vets. I get frustrated by him but appreciate the 9 straight 10+win seasons, 2 cup wins etc. Honestly a little worried about who we would replace him with. Yeah so basically I just want Miller to kick MOS and KW in the ass, light a fire and then improvements.2 points -

the asterisk to that is, they need to have or get a top tier or fringe top tier qb, and they need to get lucky or do a historic job of fixing canadian talent and their ol. We hit mop zach, and had built an insane stock pile of ni talent / ol for about 3 years. That’s why teams like montreal, toronto, and calgary have changed their fates quickly. And why it took soo long for hamilton, ssk and ottawa to rebuild. As that applies to us, we have the stock pile of canadian assets and imo half the ol. We have the ability to cut salary and add significant talent to our biggest needs like 1-2 ol. Qb is the biggest question mark roster wise. Zach could do any thing next year. He’s the least reliable qb in the league over the past 2 seasons. We also have the most question marks in the front office and coaching staff.1 point

went from gordon ramsay to 50 cent real fast, almost with a detour to biggie smalls. Looked at it a bit, seems like it was a robbery which is wild he got shot 11 times to get jacked. And they got about 100k worth of stuff. Glad it ended up not too bad all things considered1 point

If they run it back with Hogan, they won't be getting my season ticket dollars. I'm a diehard fan so, of course, I'll watch them and cheer and jeer from my big-assed recliner but that's it! Some interesting management/coaching scenarios have been discussed here. With both Walters and O'Shea without contracts and the situation in Toronto, it will be interesting times watching things unfold. There's a rumor (and I stress RUMOR) out there that Walters and O'Shea are no longer seeing eye to eye. Could it be because Walters has brought in some decent players who have been cut or have not been given adequate chances to prove themselves on the field? Anyway, if football is like most professional sports, the coach will be let go first. (Most managers get at least two coach misses before they're shown the door.)1 point -
That would work with me in all honesty....nothing wrong at all in that scenario Osh has had 4 chances since 2021....and his decision in Hogan was the cherry on top of the shitsundae on how he goes about things...Players...coaches.... If we run it back as is.....we know a good majority of the less than stellar giys will be back....positions given...not earned....no deviation from anything if not working or optimal....insistence no to use all the rules afforded to us.....so yeah peob a write-off...casue in all honesty, why would we expect anything different?? Factor in other teams working to be better....Hi there 5th place1 point

I think the only chance to replace both and have a chance to be competitive just evaporated with ott getting dinwiddie. Firing both is rebuild mode not just this off season but next year. I think the best move is to replace one and do a strong re tool in the off season. I believe walters is the easiest to replace competently, but that mos is a larger piece of the problem. I also don’t expect either to go any where unless they decide to go. Toronto may well lure mos away. I don’t think we will make an active decision. I think what we do will be reactionary. Any one who seriously tables keeping hogan on as oc should be immediately escorted out by security. Id be interested in the young guys up front of the als organization for gm, for hc man that’s hard.1 point

Through all this discussion about our lazy GM Walters, Osh leaving for Toronto (please go), firing Hogan or maybe losing Brady if we don't, Zach's unhappiness, Younger & his Cheetos no pass rush defense, Walters not doing enough this past off season, Osh roster management issues.... All I want is a change. The room has gone stale. It stinks. We need Wade Miller to go in & open the window wide to let a fresh breeze in. As a fan, I want change. Meaningful & serious change. I don't care if that means head rolls & we don't renew the contracts of Walters & O'Shea. After 12 freaking years, the team has to do something to shake it up. I don't want to watch my team decline further while we have a GM mail it in another off season. While players & coaches who should be gone get special treatment & undeservedly stick around for another season. After 12 going on 13 seasons, I don't think as a fan that I can take anymore of this **** because I know it'll just get worse.1 point -
